Culprate - Whispers (Part I)

Proud of being a funder, one of my favorite album. Ever.

For those of you who haven't listened to the album, all I can say is; prepare yourselves. I don't think the world is ready for such a beautiful album. Well done John & friends for delivering such a unique piece of art.

I've never been a fan of electronic music, almost all of my favorite albums were created by artists who'd either died or disbanded before I even existed, like Jeff Buckley, Bob Marley or Jimmy Hendrix. My first real taste of electronic music was when I was 17, floating around filthy dubstep mini-raves half mad on K. I truly thought, especially now with the music industries ceaseless addiction to cash and its blatant promotion of stupidity, that I'd never listen to an album in my lifetime that would make me feel the way this one does. Its not a simple emotion like happiness or sadness, its like nostalgia, that bitter-sweet, complex feeling that washes over you when you return to an old place from your past that has moved on, or when the smell of tomatoes reminds you of a dead friend. Thank you Culprate.

My love sent this to me when he was dying of cancer. His exact words were, "I'm happy that you will get what you want and I'll get pain." And then he sent the link to this song. I left to go out-of country and came back to hear he was gone.

The hidden "DMT" in the artwork is really cool. D on the left then center M and T, leading towards absolution at the end and with these kinda bug obstacles that are really just Mind or Soul unsure of its own reality (absolution) out front. Really dope.

I discovered this song a few months ago and could almost instantly tell I had found something special. What a beautiful and complex composition. I've not heard anything quite like it.

Got this on vinyl. The artwork is so great, but the music... Got to listen to it at least twice a year...

This will always be one of my favourite songs ever. Just feel like crying every time i listen to it.

I don't know much about music production, but this song hit me as insanely well composed

This is my favorite opening to any album hands down

First time I've heard this album I was like ''Culprate? The f*ck are you doing? Where's your Glitch Hop stuff?''. But then I gave another try and fell inlove with this stuff, especially ''Whispers Part 1'' and ''Within''. Played them like 100 times already.

Culprate and Koda

It is very rare when a song makes me cry the first time I hear it, and I can't stop replaying it. Well done man.

like others stated...this track is a gem. the album is awesome as a whole but this one track is magical.

All the small details make me come back everytime for the same reason: it never gets boring to listen to such a masterpiece

Thank you so much for making this song! It's this peculiar type of track that you don't tend to really appreciate when you first hear it (albeit you can easily notice the great attention to details) and start to truely like after listening to it several times. I'm currently in this mood, and what a pleasure it is to know this masterpiece. Whispers goes through so many different phases, venturing from a cheerful and dynamic start with a glad humming singer (Koda's hums I assume) to a very bittersweet nostalgic and melancholic sax part ; not to mention the impressive so-called 'rain' part (3:00) which genuinely gives me the tremble and shiver pictured in the lyrics, with a fair bit of mere nostalgia. The spectrum of emotions this song displays in myself is astonishing, awe inspiring. Although I truely like your other dubstep (or whatsoever) tracks, I can state doubtlessly that this song is by far the best you've ever made... Thanks again! Hope this song will get some more recognition in the not-too-distant future

This is still be my favourite one, it's like that piece of art that most of the people don't know apreciate, cause this is it, a piece of art, beautiful work, all the chords, the tones, melody and the effects, they fit perfectly, I love your work guys, never stop.

Culprate is so diverse, yet pulls of every genre with perfection. Definition of talent!

I hope that future culprate albums have songs like this.

I think I'll always remember this one. Been trying to get theneedledrop to review this album to at least grab it a little more exposure, and have been eyeing pitchfork for reviews, but there have been none so far. Really surprised that there hasn't been more hype for this - is it too controversial to say that this is underrated?
