Memorial Day weekend is usually when the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad opens to the public and operates from then until October running daily except Mondays. However, there are some exceptions. The railroad needs to move equipment from one side to the other to be properly prepared for the onslaught of people wishing to ride this beautiful railroad as all of the serviceable passenger cars are kept in Antonito, Colorado for the winter for repairs and storage. Photographers and other guests were invited by the railroad and their PR team to join the passenger car move from Antonito to Chama, NM with a few stops for runbys on the way. At 9:00 sharp we set out and it was off to Chama. It was a windy and chilly day but regardless a lot of fun to finally experience this ride for myself (yes this is my first time riding on the railroad). It was an honor to be a part of this and I thank the railroad for inviting me out to join along for the ride. Enjoy the video!
