Cummins Diesel 4BT Conversion - Fullsize Jeep Wagoneer 

I just bought this Jeep! It’s still kicking. I picked it up from a guy in PA and am bringing it to West Virginia. Would be awesome to learn more about it.

3 Speed TF727HD from an early Gen 1 Cummins/Dodge. The T case is the original Jeep NP229. Still driving the beast...Has 2000 Hrs on the engine since the conversion.

Good work on the swap. Looks super clean, like it rolled out of the factory with that motor in it.

I am so jealous!!! I have a 2006 Rubicon Unlimited and now that I've lifted it, added 33X12.5 tires, a tire carrier rear bumper, winch and custom front bumper, etc. The weight of my rig is now off the charts and the anemic 4.0L I6 just doesn't have the balls to make the beast move very well. I need a Cummings 4BT or a serious diff gear upgrade. Would prefer the diesel swap.

Yes a 4" lift was installed by the previous owner. This is required for front axle clearance to the oilpan.

It looks like it was made to fit, since the base motor was the AMC 256 (4.2L) straight six it made perfect sense.

The 4BT is mated to a Dodge 3spd Auto from an early 5.9 Cummins powered Ram. I was going to combine the Dodge TF727 with the Jeep TF727 but did not want to have a bastardized transmission in case it broke down far away from home. The original T-case is bolted to the transmission, bet relocated back a few inches. A custom crossmember was fabricated to deal with the large pedestal mount on the Dodge transmission. A 90 degree drive was used on the speedo cable as well.

You might consider adding a charge air cooler if economy is your goal. I know it is not as easy as just throwing one on. I used a gen 2 dodge radiator and charge air cooler for my 97 Tahoe 4bt swap. I'm seeing a best of 27 mpg. It is 4WD and 2 dr. Your swap looks good.

@SuperDutyCummins It is actually International Harvester Red from Carquest. I was shooting for the ISX "look" I may get some shiny valve covers to add a few more horsepower :) I'll be putting this setup to the test this July, hauling my 31' Airstream around the north end of Lake Superior from Southern Ontario. I'll try to add a few video clips.

what mpg where you getting? im thinking of building one of these like this for my Daily driver.

There's a bunch of us with the same wagon/ truck that also want to do the only thing that gives mileage but leaves power. Yah can't tease us with this great solution without some tech answers! What trans? Is there an adapter? What did you need to do to the truck to handle the extra weight? Tcase to trans? Your fans have a right to know! :)

The best average combined driving has been 22 MPG. I have not done much toying with the injection pump as of yet. It is a huge improvement over the 360 though. I will be adding a fuel heating system and filtration to run waste veggie oil in the spring.

Sweet looking Cummins diesel conversion. Nice sound. I can imagine a 3.9 litre Cummins under the hood of a full-sized Jeep, either a Cherokee or a Wagoneer. Do you still have the Wagoneer diesel? If you do, how about a drive?

Cool swap! I've been considering a 4BT swap, but haven't worked out the details. Have you been able to get any fuel economy numbers with it yet?

I have a J20 with a Oldsmobile 5.7 Diesel. But a Cummins is much cooler though.

does it sew clothes? Sounds like a sewing machine...
