ICYMI: Here's a Tuesday Tech Tip! In this video demonstrates the proper way to change the stage-1 & stage-2 fuel filters on the @CumminsEnginesX15 engine.
@@justingoedel47 No they don't mean turn the key off. They mean disconnect the batteries. This is literally the first step for almost every repair in every manual written in the last 50 years. They tell you this because there are various electrical components under the hood that always have live battery power (starter, alternator, relays, etc.). When working under the hood it is very easy to bump or touch the these components with metal tools that can arc out to ground, burning and melting things in the process. Besides the risk of causing an electrical fire there is the safety risk to the mechanic. You don't want to have to trust other people to not turn that key. Just because the fuel filters are off doesn't mean that engine won't start and run for a few moments. In those breif moments mechanics could easily become crushed or entangle by moving components like belts, pulleys, and steering linkage or diesel fuel could be sprayed everywhere. Not only are you wrong Justin you are dead wrong. Lots of people every year are killed or disfigured because of failing to isolated equipment so it can't be started while they are working on it.
Words can't describe how I feel rt now..I will say this,,,,I will never get the min back I wasted on clicking on this....I am rendered speechless...for that I give You a 👍🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Very professional people works here, I understand now why’s so expensive to perform this fuel filters change, It’s likely doctors getting surgery, thanks again
Nice video i just swapped out high pressure fuel pump. Although i primed as your video suggests my engine will not turn over. I air worked it’s way in the system. Any advice
This is exactly how I do my fuel filters, other than the battery disconnect. My 2021 x15 takes an absurd amount of time to get started again. I usually cycle the key and let the pump run 5 times and then try to start. If no start I let the pump run again until it shuts off then try again. Sometimes it takes around 10 cycles before it actually fires up and often throws a code for low fuel rail pressure. Is there a trick I don’t know about or what? Everyone I know with an x15 has the same issue
Make sure weather sep has fuel in it. Then to prime the primary filter just cycle the key a couple times ( without cranking the engine) after this it should start easy.
Ran out of fuel last night while sleeping, gauge showed a quarter tank. This was a whole lot easier than the old plunger until your arm is tired that was the routine on my old cat.
Now yall know why the dang truck sits for two weeks in a service bay. I wonder how long it'll take to change a head. 😂 BTW, is it me or he's got his clockwise, and counter clockwise messed up?Although I wish we can go back in time when we didn't have to disconnect an electrical component to change a fuel filter. Oh, the good ol'days.
Nah I use to prime it before I start n it does take a while before it’ starts Suggestion take to the shop let them do it watch how they do it. Then u do it exactly how they do it.
Just safety. There are under hood components that have live power to them all the time and you don't want to risk arcing out tools on them. If you look there's a big positive terminal that likely has battery power just Infront of the filter. You also do it to prevent other people from prematurely starting the engine while you're still working on it.
good way to blow pump seals. youlI need to bleed air out before turning engine over . been there with customers 2 many times. they dont do it right and get pump internal leaks. he did it right on this engine. but theres a ton of different guidelines. for older engines
I had the same problem, I had to call road service to come out and help me. He got it on with no problem. Did u figure it out, I still really don't get it. Lining it up
@@Nycbronx87 that’s the trick, I tried the first day for about 3 hours and got so frustrated. Went back in the morning and still nothing, then I decided to try another new one I had and that one worked. Good luck
I know what you're trying to say with "take the filter off by turning clockwise", but I'd strongly suggest you provide a better reference point. If you were to hang a clock from that filter bracket, it would not turn in the axis that the filter bowl is removed. You could have a mechanic on a creeper platform staring up at the filter, and his/her perspective of "clockwise" would be the opposite of another mechanic staring down on the filter. "Clockwise as viewed from below" or "clockwise as viewed from above" would be a preferable way to explain this.
Well written agreement But your still wrong sir. You turn a filter left ( counter clockwise) to remove and right or ( clockwise ) to tighten or install if you will. You filter base is a Righthand thread.
@@jeffwatson2234 you missed the point 100%. Completely. Totally. As in, never saw it coming as it flew over your head. And frankly, don't tell me "your wrong" for two reasons: one, I never said anything to the tune of righty tighty or the opposite, so I'm not wrong, and two, it would be you're wrong (if I actually said something that was incorrect, which I did not) - the contraction of you are is you're not your (and it would be Your filter base not You filter base). Regardless, the vantage point does matter, and you've completely missed that.
@@qbounti5152 Your truck must not have an electric lift pump or it may not be working properly. It would be very odd to not have a lift pump on a truck that new. I've done this pretty much exactly as they show on multiple kenworth C500's and have never had a problem.
I do appreciate the text book instruction but he mis spoke when he said turn the bowl filter housing counterclockwise to tighten and also he said clockwise when removing the fuel filter when obviously the tech was turning it the opposite way but he was only reading what was put in front of him so i cant blame him at all , mistakes happen
