Mine are planted in a semi shady area, so they behave a little better. To keep them from any leaning I have some clear fishing line stretched across that area. So fun to see the few goldfinches we have left in this suburban food desert perch and eat the seeds outside my living room window. Also fun to see insects , bees and sometimes a hummingbird sip water from the “cups”.

Thank you! Great info! You helped me identify the flowers I mis identified before. A friend told me she thought it could be arnica so I never looked more into til now. Hello from Ottawa Canada 🇨🇦 😊

Thanks so much for this information. Just as an addition, I have moved the cup plants around in my garden quite a lot and they were not hard to transplant at all. Even the tiniest bit of root on one end will do it. However, they do kind of freak out and look like they might die the first summer you do this and then make a great come back the next year. Or at least that has been my experience.

nice video and info, how do I get to the "drive up" prairie in Wilkinson Park? I can't get around like I used to so appreciate roadsides. I've driven around Rock Falls only found one small planted plot. keep those videos coming...

Once in the "big" town of Rock Falls Iowa follow the black top road from the park entrance and follow the river, the green belt drive is lovely from the covered bridge to Nora Sprjngs - stay on the east side of the river

I planted it because I thought it looked like good habitat for tree frogs.

On a scale of 1-10 how aggressive would you say cup plant is? I love the idea of having it in my suburban backyard but am also afraid of having to fight it constantly

Should i want until the heads start to turn brown before I gather the seeds? Or is that too late

I usually wait till the seed head is dry before gathering seeds
