It's great how these EV,s and plugin's don't get punctures.

It's like they believe we all live in crowded European / Asian cities where roadside assist can rock up in a jiffy 😂

Yeah, but the added weight and imposition of a spare is too much! I’m sure if you really want a space saver you could fit one somewhere.

@@therightcar correct. I have a Formentor VZe and I reckon we are the perfect PHEV users. We plug in every night and use zero petrol around town for weeks at a time, but every few months drive Brisbane to Roma (480km) using the filthy petrol engine - no range anxiety - avg 5.2 l/100km. I purchased a suitably full-sized wheel from Bob Jane and simply throw it in the back for the long trips.

Been driving for 15 years and last few years 30-40k km a year. Never had a puncture and the insurance will cover towing if I ever had a puncture. So if there is a chance of one puncture per 500000km I rather take the extra space or less weight I get without spare tire.

There was a 5k cashback last month and Cupra offers 1% finance with 3 years free service. It is hard to ignore when you shop a golf gti.

Wow that is compelling. Other brands are doing 15.9% and acting like that’s a good deal!

I’m impressed you managed to get 5 litres per 100km. I have this same model & the most from hybrid only with zero battery charge is 5 litres per 92.45 km & that’s really being gentle not exceeding 60 mph & largely motorway driving. For UK that’s 54.7 mpg. EV only I average 32miles or 51.5km per full charge. The most I’ve driven on a full charge was approximately 35 miles or 56.3 km. I’d definitely recommend this car it’s great fun to drive as well as ticking the sensible box for the family & the wallet. I had the 2019 Seat Leon Cupra 290 bhp before this for pure driving fun I still don’t think you can beat the petrol model for performance & fun but it comes at a cost. If fun & performance is your thing ahead of financial considerations I’d definitely recommend the full petrol Cupra Leon running with the Golf R powertrain. My last Cupra also shared the same powertrain as the S3 & Golf R. For some reason Cupra just has a knack for making it so much more fun.

Thanks for the feedback mate. And yeah, I’ll tell you I was quite surprised at 5L/100 too!

I have the 2021 PHEV model and tested the mileage on a road trip. Once the battery ran out, I reset the mileage information, and after 300km my mileage was 5,1 liters per 100km. That is pretty good especially because it is now winter and the temperature was -5c. During the summer, I expect it to be even more. The battery range during the winter has not been too impressive, usually around 30km and the highest I got was 36km. Will have to see how it is during warmer seasons.

@@JopeSane Interesting I’m still really enjoying my car although some gremlins with the infotainment control centre & front assist limited in poor weather. Still not enough to dampen things. Funny I’ve also noticed the same drops in range this winter especially with the air-con pulling power. I also found it more economical to drive with the battery regeneration set to minimum it still charges enough for stop start & coasting so best of both worlds there. If I set my hybrid mode to charge the battery to say 25% the mpg figures are not great around 30mpg ish. If it’s set to minimum it works a treat. One tip I’ve learned is when the door are unlocked the air-con automatically engages sucking silly amounts of power even if I have had it turned off when I last left the car. I now jump straight in if I’m not heading off straight away & toggle the air-com to off. I don’t know why they have done this but I used 6% 768W of battery power just going to my car and unlocking the twice in one day without travelling anywhere.

I am really impressed with the look, and I'm tempted by the PHEV because of the big tax savings and advantages available with novated leasing.

Great car and makes Audi A3 look expensive- love the styling and engineering plus VZx a bargain R with more distinctive styling - just wish there were a few more dealerships 🎯👏

SEAT/CUPRA definitely have a good thing going on! And yes, I'd pick the Leon over the Golf too! I love the whole CUPRA vibe! I've always considered SEAT to have more flair in it's styling, especially in recent times when compared to Volkswagen and Skoda. I still think a re-launch of the SEAT brand here would have a place under Volkswagen and Skoda in Australia, but I'm happy to see CUPRA here in the mean time!

I think originally the plan was to relaunch Seat but the economics didn’t make sense. And they would have had to de-spec the cars to a level that wouldn’t have been as desired by Aussies, who want a lot of stuff for not much money. But Cupra is a great fit for our market.
@barbarusbloodshed6347

@@therightcar it's an open secret Seat will be replaced with Cupra. And those plans probably have been around for many years. So I'd see any hesitation to bring the Seat brand to any new/foreign markets in the light of that. Just didn't make sense if they wanted to trash the brand anyway. And while I like Seat and drive one myself I can see where they're coming from. Cupra has become a great success in Europe, practically over night. Creating a new brand with a new image apparently is worthwhile. Germany's going crazy for the brand, especially the Cupra Formentor.

Considering a sporty hatch at a much lower price point, what do you think of the Swift Sport?

Why does it have a transmission tunnel if its front wheel drive? Am I missing something?

It shares a platform with AWD models. Like a Golf FWD - it also has a trans tunnel.

Only problem is the high pricing....how many kms would you have to do to recoup the extra spend over a V or VZ?

So many. But you buy a car that suits your needs, don’t you?

If you can get a novated lease, 100% of the payments come out before tax & are ftb free so instantly its much much cheaper than the base model

Does the car charge by letting the car rollout & by breaking? Or soly by recharging it?
@Hyjy0
@Hyjy0 5 месяцев назад
Just got one today. You can switch the recuperation mode either on aggressive, which is like pressing on the brake, light, which I couldn't notice much at all while driving, or off iirc. It came to me quite a ways away so the battery was dead on arrival so I'll have more experience with the car once it's fully charged

I dont think ill ever be comfortable with the idea of a hatchback thats as big as a compact SUV, that just defeats the purpose, its even worse when the space in the boot is rubbish. As it pertains to the pricing, yes its expensive but youre getting premium Spanish engineering.

You know that an Audi A7 is a hatchback…? 😜
@mindfreeze0838

@@therightcar there has been this trend in the automotive industry where some smart alecks in marketing say cars are in certain classes just because they want to say it is, not because the car physically fits the criteria. How is something that large considered a hatchback? Its as long as a Palisade!
