@@hughphil I don't think that's what they were going for at all. I mean for starters, you're really stretching those two things in your attempt to connect them. But more importantly, that's not even really Larry David's style. Nor is it the style of the show. The butterfly catching bit is one of his typical narcissistic and absurd tangents...totally unaffected by the situation at hand and completely random. Turning it into an analogy about "capturing gays" (whatever that means) removes that randomness, and therefore removes a good portion of the humor.

I disagree. Sure she may be more feminine than her partner, but if she wants to be the groom, let her be the groom, it obviously means something to her. This is my life, in a nutshell.

Larry David is right 90% of the time and wrong 10% of the time, but he is an asshole 100% the time while other people are 50% more sensitive than normal. That's basically Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I know a guy who ended up getting a divorce. He claimed that the problem was his wife just could not handle truth. The truth was that he was having an affair.

Most marriages are very short now because people see it as the next step instead of an important life-long commitment. How long had they been married and how often did they have sex? There's a huge amount of men in the world stuck in sexless relationships because once they get married women treat it only like a special reward which makes it transactional instead of a bonding romantic experience between partners. Eventually sex can stop entirely which is never the desire of the guy. The divorce system also heavily favours women in the Western world and a lot of men know this so they just stay in their sexless marriages and often eventually cheat if another woman takes a liking to them. Baby boomer men are getting hit with divorces in record amounts by boomer women right before retirement. Many of these women have been housewives/mothers voluntarily which means the guys have been earning and funding everything their entire lives. Now all retirement plans are ruined, usually because of some delusion on the woman's part. This turned into a bit of a rambling comment on modern relationships but the key is that context matters.
