Make sure to check out the latest videos on this issue and upgrade the breaker, add de-icer lubricant and install a inverter if needed in extreme cold locations.
LOCATION: Alberta/Canada
TEMPERATURES: +35'C to -40'C
So this is a CURE to MOST problems that you might find with a Dodge air suspension. The compressor itself is fairly tough, but in cold weather it gets a little tighter and won't spin as easy.
Below -10'C you start seeing issues with the compressor being stalled, not necessarily due to water in the lines, but due to the tight tolerances.
Install a $32 dollar heater blanket to extend the life and make it work after a 20 minute warm up.
I have been using the truck for a little over a week now, after the install and in -25'C weather. It has been working 100% EXCEPT when I got on the road and it would eventually cool the compressor down. I have not yet installed a cord to go inside the truck WHILE DRIVING.
UPDATE:
it works VERY reliably now. The only problem I had was ONCE again after -21'C weather, going down the highway for an hour. AFTER running this setup for 3 weeks, it actually got better and better, without the need to plug in at all (maybe removed the moisture through the heat). The second week in having the blanket, plugging in seemed more like an insurance. Best thing I could do to this thing!

Let me just start off by giving you a huge THANKS I own a 2013 ram sport (with air suspension option) and tried this trick as my warranty is expired, I plugged the heating blanket in and left it for about 30 minutes as my suspension had been dropped for over a week... when I initially started the truck it appeared as though no changes had been made still had the same lockout logo on the dash (yellow truck with up and down arrows) but upon taking my truck for a 10 minute drive shutting it off for about 15 minutes and restarting it the error messages went away and the truck now raises and lowers through ALL the settings with no issues! Thanks for saving me thousands $$$$ I definitely owe you big time!

As an added bonus for anyone who has called dodge or had countless warranty visits please try this, my experience dodge wanted to charge me 2 hrs of labour which ended up almost costing me $250 plus tax just to look at it and before even going to the dealership the service tech told me over the phone they would probably be replacing the compressor and other lines which would have ended up costing much more with no guarantees it would be a permanent fix!

Glad to see you got it fixed. My issue is not cold weather. I am down in Florida. When i load my truck camper, the right rear side leans ~1.5 inches (measured ground to wheel body frame). From ground to top of the right air bag bracket, the right is ~1. inch lower than the right. Three dealerships and RAM care could not fix or adjust settings. I'm thinking of just adding a 1 inch spacer under the right air bag in hopes this will resolve the rear ride height when hauling a truck camper.

I did this and it has been working for me so far. The only thing I did differently was I ran the plug inside my cab so I could plug it in while I drove and ran another plug from the cab near the block heater plug. When I park it I unplug it from the console and plug the 2 plugs together then just plug it in by the block heater. This way I do not have a cord running through the door inside the cab. I also always put it in tire jack mode when it is sitting.

**Update** Well it appears -52 Celcius with the wind is the breaking point. I was excited as this fix seemed to be working even in -30 celcius however I came out this morning with the truck plugged in and the back end was right flat. Thankfully I have a big shop at work and was able to pull the truck in to warm up. It took a couple of hours but then I put the truck into off road mode and it raised and lowered. Location: Quebec, Canada Temperature: +35 C to -40 C So it's time for an update: couple days ago, I was on my way back from my cottage and the I got the "immediate air suspension maintenance" message and the truck slowly started to drop until the system was empty. It's the first time it ever happen WHILE driving so I just went berserk and lost my mind. I had all my familiy with me and truck was kicking like a mule on every tiny road cracks and bumps. Not safe at all! This is a real security issue and must be addressed ASAP but of course Chrysler will wait until a tragedy happens to act... The dealer changed my block valve 2 weeks ago so I was expecting tranquility for the rest of the winter...WRONG! So as soon as I arrived, I went straight to Canadian Tire and bought the exact same battery blanket. It was near closing time and I said screw this, I'll install it immediately. I've managed to do this with a frontal lamp (it's that easy) and it took about 45 mins. IT WORKS! The sample is small but since I've install it, no problem whatsoever and we had a mix of very cold to above normal temperatures and the system did not failed. I'm plugging it every 2 or 3 nights and it seem to do the trick. So again, thank you for taking the time to record and share this with the world. RAM engineers: take some notes for your next brainstorming session!

Once the suspension is down, the truck is unsafe for operation and I am glad you got your family home safe nonetheless. I feel like a combination of air suspension and coil springs would have been a better choice for these trucks indeed. It always puzzles me, how ignorant American engineers appear to be when it comes to harsh weather conditions.

@@AkoNiBai007 I guess Ram engineers never actually tested anything in Canada because they would have done things differently, unless they're completely retarded. He everyone. Here is an update on this fix that I did on my Ram back in September. I did not do an update for October because it was rather unseasonably mild. However, I still plugged in every night and had no issues at all that month. Note that in October 2017 the temps were similar to this year, and the truck suspension failed in 2017, so I consider the fix a success at this point. The last few days were -10C or so here (Edmonton, Alberta area). No way would the truck stay up in these temps before the fix. I would always find it dropped in the garage each morning. But since I had it plugged in, it stays up overnight, and driving for an hour or so each day, no issues. Very happy so far! To everyone who has this problem - please spend the $70 or so for the battery warmer, the get 24" ties and cord wrap and take the 30 minutes out of your life and try this fix!

Keith, thank you so much for the update, I am glad the suspension is working! I am a little shocked they sold you the battery blanket for $70 bucks! I bought mine for half that, but perhaps you went with more wattage? Apparently the Americans don't understand weather that reaches below 0'C like here in Canada. Yet the fix is so simple...engineers sometimes...I am moving to Edmonton very soon. Would be kinda cool to meet over a coffee, hehe.

Oops! I meant $50. Typo on my part. That's total spend (blanket, ties, cord housing). Actually, I don't think American manufacturers even CARE about our climate, let alone engineering anything to make it survive up here, especially DEF systems (different topic). How hard is it to make a heavy duty compressor, valves and tanks for these suspension systems? Anyway, why bother when they sell almost as many trucks in the warm climates of Texas and California than in all of Canada. Drop me a line when you move up! I owe you the coffee. @@oBseSsIoNPC

I've been having air suspension issues with my 2014 Ram Laramie since I bought it new here in Fredericton, NB. I've taken it to the dealership on numerous occasions, but those crafty little buggers bring the truck indoors for an hour or so, road-test it, and the problem has dissappeared every time. I myself have left the truck in my heated shop overnight, and it's a kitten the next day. I've always bought a bag of 40Amp fuses to get me through the winters for the most part. In discussion with a friend of mine who fixes big trucks, he couldn't understand why Chrysler hasn't added an air dryer to the system...or at the very least, an alcohol sump, that would act as an anti-freeze agent. I've actually considered trading in for a 2019, but this darn thing is so nice for the rest of the year's driving, it seems a shame to drop $75K on payments just for something stupid like this! So - tomorrow I'm going to Crappy Tire and buying the battery blanket and ties. Might be the best money I've ever spent?
@oBseSsIoNPC
@oBseSsIoNPC 5 лет назад
You go do that and give it a go, let me know how it does. I was actually also considering to install a drier system into the existing intake line. The alcohol sump they wouldn't want to do, because they don't trust owners to buy bottles and refill the bloody thing. A simple drier. spin on filter would be great indeed. Or a integrated heater that comes on in winter, with the engine running. Would need a bigger alternator I am sure. That's Chrysler and Americans for ya: "It works just fine in California!"

*UPDATE:* More and more guys share success stories, thank you for the feedback!!! The heater blanket is useful, but NOT the fix (it certainly helps a lot in the severe weather). The most notable thing to do is adding ALD3 de-icer lubricant or any de-icer lubricant for that matter. I have not even plugged in my blanket for a year and she is still going strong @ -30'C. *Watch my video for more:* ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0tcUlzDDexQ.html Make sure to cycle the suspension A LOT, after adding the de-icer, the system needs to warm up some and force the lubricant through the air bags! SO FAR SO GOOD!!! 70,000 kilometers and still on the original components, haven't replaced a thing!!!

I tried this "fix" and it didn't work after being plugged in for several days. Several others I spoke to experienced the same thing, so I took the battery blanket back and looked for plan "B". What I did discover, which worked completely thru the -29 bullshit we have been going thru, is: 1. CRC makes one, to which I couldn't find it BUT did find at Home Hardware in High River AB a product made for Bostitch air power tools a product called WINTER GRADE TOOL LUBRICANT...for use on power tools in temps of -5C or colder. It has a de-icer additive in it , but is not aggressive like lock de-icer. provides some lubricant and antifreeze to the valve body which I think it the problem. 2. I pulled off the right rear tail-light, pulled off the filter for the air suspension system, and poured a couple of tablespoons down the tube. 3. Left it inside for a few hours until things thawed and started working the suspension up and down. 4. For the past two weeks now, the system has been working like it was summer, in spite of -25 first thing in the morning. Worth a try because it is now operating like it is brand new. and cost about $10.00.

@@razvantomsa interesting. If that happened to my truck, I would look closer at the leveling sensors on each wheel. It should always go to entry/exit and level out there. I believe in each circuit air pressure is also monitored, which is part of the control valve and might prevent one from messing with it. These new rams are made for california climates...if u want a real truck buy one without the air ride...youll be alot happier and when its off of warranty get a laon and have it removed n swapped for non air ride. all u need r springs and shocks. Just buy quick struts for the front and springs n shocks for the rear.

Thank-you ObsessionPC for this video!! Last month (September 2018) I did this fix. I have a 2013 ram crew cab with 160K on it. I had not been able to use it for the last 2 winters because of the suspension issue, and I am not ready to drop $4K to fix this with the same parts that will fail later on anyway. Luckily we have an extra vehicle or two laying around. This fix is aasy to do and cheap ($35 for the battery warmer and $7 for the ties). I agree that the plugs that keep the compressor cover on are garbage. I just used extra zip ties to reattach it. Works fine. I know that temperatures here are not that cold yet, but last year at this time my truck dropped in -5 degree celsius weather (I am in Alberta, Canada as well). It would also drop overnight in similar temperatures even when sitting in my (unheated) garage. So far so good, and it has held up well while hauling a heavy load of dirt, plants and shrubs to the compost facility last week. I find the weight is what really works the suspension system in cold weather, obviously. I will chime in at the end of this month to let users know how it is holding up.

Right on Keith, thanks for sharing your personal experience of this. I have looked at aftermarket suspensions as well, but I can already tell I would miss the air ride. However, I will replace it, once things are properly broken, as of now there has been only ONCE since my modification, that the suspension did not operate. I love how I can just plug it into the truck directly, without the need for a receptacle. I think just having the pad on a few times will make sure moisture stays away from the actual motor, it helps big time.
@flintstone8263

If this fix works for me I'll owe you one. Big time. I also thought about running a cord into the cab to keep it plugged while running. Not sure where to route it though. Have you tried that yet? Sounds like you don't need to. Yes, moisture in the motor and freezing could be the main problem. I have been leaving it plugged in every night regardless of the temperature. My buddy asked why there is a cord hanging down from the bumper, though. Good conversation piece.
@oBseSsIoNPC
@oBseSsIoNPC 5 лет назад
Hehe, yeah, I can imagine it raises an eye brow or two, plugging in something at the back of the truck. I did not run a cord to the cab, since it wasn't necessary. I only plugged it in at the house or hotel so far and it worked reliably. 9/10 Sure beats the 0.5/10 times during the cold days. I am just glad when this helps the few people that have a truck with this suspension, it's still good, just not made for Canada.

In my case, the first year was ok. The second year it takes only about -10'C and high humidity (snow/slush) to make it act up. It doesn't matter if the truck is plugged in. -20 Degree weather is a guarantee for this issue to occur and stay until it's temperatures around melting. The last cold spills did not affect it, it usually will later into the year, like I wrote -20 and colder. With the blanket, it had become a lot more reliable for sure and quiet.

Well, so far so good on the rest of this truck. It had no other glitches or problems that left me stranded or frustrated. An air suspension is generally a complex system that adds to the list of possible problems dramatically. However, it's performance and ride comfort are worth the trouble to me. Especially the looks of the people when you are sitting at the rail road crossing, playing with the ride height. And yes. Dodge should have done a better job with keeping the compressor working in cold weather. Oh and it drops about 1-2 Liters /100km in Aero mode, beside the stiffer chassis, which is nice.

ObsessionPC I do agree that it drives exceptionally. I was quite impressed with it yesterday, infact I was leaning towards buying the vehicle but its upsetting to learn that the system has a very high chance of breaking in Alberta, I mean it was -30 for weeks here this year. Are you aware of dodge has remedied the system in the 5 years it's been out? Or is it the same system? I do work with compressors and closed systems and there should be a fix by now from dodge. I appreciate the response.

DO NOT DO IT. I have one and also live in Calgary. If the temp drops below -10 the air suspension has nothing but issues. The suspension goes into self preservation mode (which is lowered to entry exit mode) and it becomes ROCK hard. Every bump in the road you feel. I've had mine into the dealership 6 times since I bought it in 2014, with the first trip for repairs being during the first winter that I owned it. Its always having issues when its cold out. I'm on my 3rd air compressor, second set of bag on the rear, and have had the nitrogen tank purged and refilled 5 times. The truck is fantastic. But the air suspension is the worst thing in the world. I wish I never got that suspension.

Justin Gallow that is really unfortunate. In 4 years they still haven't found a solution. Im also surprised a mechanic engineer or hobbyist hasnt taken a look at the the system and found the flaw. When the compressor is trying to pump low temp I can see it blowing fuses, as for the vents freezing Im not sure why they havent put dryers in. I wonder if the compressor has a heater? Holy Schmoly! The fix is that simple? Been having that problem for 2 winters in a row and I was starting to think getting a new Ram without that damn air suspension but as you said, I love it so much! The smoothness is real. May seems like a weird question but can it cause overheating in the summer? Or since I do lots of gravel road, can the batterie warmer pad cause some kind of dust clogging between itself and the compressor that would negatively affects it? Or what if I get a jolly mixture of dust and water stuck in there? Assuming that dust can even get there in the first place of course. Oh and thank you for sharing this by the way! You might just have saved me a couple years of payments :P
@oBseSsIoNPC
@oBseSsIoNPC 5 лет назад
It can be THAT simple indeed, so far 9/10 guys report it fixed. I am also driving the truck up and down a gravel road and I am not slow. I have just checked the blanket and cover and it is perfectly fine, no mud or dust that could be an issue has collected there. I am not at all worried about the overheating in the summer. The compressor does not run for long enough to cause any issues, except you have the kids push buttons for minutes at a time. As for any other crap that could collect, because you took the truck through a slough, yeah, you better take the pressure washer under there or cut the zip ties and clean it out, as rocks might wear through the thin skin and expose wires.

the de-icer ONLY works, after it got cycled through a couple times, meaning the system has to work. The heating blanket can take up to 2 hrs to do it's job. @@TheBojaboja quite honestly, that system makes no sense and is hard to predict. You can always bypass the compressor relay and power it directly to see if the compressor works. I think I put it in my other video. Otherwise, put the suspension in transport mode, disconnect the battery by removing the ground cable and take a wire to go from the ground cable to the positive cable to discharge the capacitors and reset the controllers. I'm about to try this on my 2014 Ram Sport that I just got a few months ago. I am in Southern Ontario and this winter has been colder then most recent one and this problem started with just the "Immediate Air Suspension Service/ Repair" message but there were no symptoms, as of yesterday my front end was dropped and the rear was in OFFROAD 2. I changed the fuse and was able to avoid bumping my way home, but as of this morning, the issue came back and the fuse was popped again. They only had 2 at Canadian Tire, so I am already on my last one, but I'm going to get the Battery Blanket and a few more fuses and try this over the weekend. Question though, is there anyway to hardwire this and run a switch rather then have to plug it in? I usually do not park close to a receptacle at the house (I don't park in the garage, but that may start to change) and I don't really want to find a hole in the body to run a line to the interior receptacle on the dash.

@oBseSsIoNPC 5 лет назад
Hi Marco, I am sure the blanket will cure the issue for you, god speed! To hardwire the blanket into the truck, because it is a 110V A/C based blanket, would be quite a bit of work to do nicely, in the existing inverter. If anything, I would purchase a separate inverter rated for 300W, which will have a switch on it, and perhaps run it of the cigarette lighter, or hardwire it in from the battery. There are some ways, of fishing a cable through the chassis. I will attempt to find time today or on the weekend, to make a video about that. Just be aware that the blanket will drain the battery dead in no time, if the inverter is left on and the engine off.

Hey Boss, so i had tried the battery blanket for a few days now with the suspension completely frozen. The compressor will run but nothing else happens, put deicer in the airline with the filter but still wont lift and giving the payload issue code. Does that mean the valve is frozen or the tanks are frozen?
@oBseSsIoNPC
@oBseSsIoNPC 4 года назад
So here is the procedure in short: 1) use the battery blanket to heat the compressor if stalled (that is all it cures) 2) once compressor is warm and ran, add VERY LITTLE de-icer run compressor if possible 3) if compressor is locked out due to errors, use a heat gun or hair dryer and warm up the control valve 4) if errors persist, but vehicle is aired up, drive for a few minutes in high RPM (to warm up the exhaust as well), park, keep warm, add more de-icer 5) if errors still persist and keep you locked out, find a warm place, parking garage or a shop and leave to thaw out, usually takes ~1hr, oil change time? haha 6) once warm and functional with suspension cycling properly, add more de-icer and cycle AT LEAST 5-10 times, fully up and fully down 7) add another few drops of de-icer and DRIVE The system takes a few hours to cycle the de-icer lubricant all the way through lines, the tanks and the air bags, there might be the odd time it freezes again, you can support the process by using the battery blanket at first. ONCE the de-icer is in the system and all the moisture is displaced, it will stay working reliably.

When I first had problems with the truck, one side would drop and so the truck would sit crooked. After thawing the valve and compressor it corrected itself. I am certain the control valve was messing up at the time. Other than that, the whole suspension will drop, when the compressor is not working, but also the suspension cannot compensate, when the compressor is stuck. The next best thing to do, is checking the small linkages and potentiometers on each of the wheels, to see if they function properly, unclip one, move the potensiometer and see if the truck responds to the change. If the truck does not respond to some or any, you know it is the sensor, if the truck does not respond at all, it is the compressor. Either way, 8/10 times it is stuck due to moisture and cold.

How is the trucks air suspension working in the cold with the battery blanket on it now that you have a few weeks with it? Any other issues or suggestions?
@oBseSsIoNPC
@oBseSsIoNPC 6 лет назад
it works VERY reliably now. The only problem I had was ONCE again after -21'C weather when it wasn't plugged in for the day. AFTER running this 3 weeks, it actually got better and better. The second week in having the blanket, plugging in seemed more like an insurance. Best thing I could do to this thing!

I am in Alberta as well. When we had the -31'C End of January, it worked 100% UNTIL I went down the highway after 1 hr driving it complained one more time. I still suggest running an extension cord inside the cab, neatly tucked away. For me, the suspension is worth this trouble, I LOVE the way the truck drives, handles and saves a ton of fuel ducking down on the highway. This is my 3rd winter with it and the first with the trouble. It appears that the system is happy "long time" when you keep it plugged in at home for like 2 weeks straight. Again, no problems in -15'C weather and warmer, when not plugged in.

@@rockylarkin2764 It does not work as well as they're making it out to. It is a half assed fix, 50W blanket on my Ram plugged in over night. -14C and woke up to a slammed truck. Works okay when above -8C but only when plugged in.

Mark Langen 1 second ago I tried this "fix" and it didn't work after being plugged in for several days.

Hello From Montana! Did you remove this in the summer or did you leave it on? If you have left it on has the compressor over heated?
@oBseSsIoNPC
@oBseSsIoNPC 5 лет назад
Hello! This is the first summer I have the blanket off, because I was attempting to run just the anti freeze in the system over the course of the end of the winter. The previous 2 summer, the compressor never overheated, even in 38'C weather with the blanket in place. This includes hauling heavy loads.

@oBseSsIoNPC
@oBseSsIoNPC 5 лет назад
Temperatures -5 and warmer are fine and you won't have issues. When it is colder than problems may occur. Driving is the worst, as the truck will want to constantly adjust and wind will cool the system more. As long as there is a bit of antifreeze in the lines, the filter is o.k. and there isn't any moisture in the system to begin with, you are fine. A good dealership will be able to open the system and drain existing moisture. I highly recommend adding a one way filter or valve to the exhaust hose behind the tail light as well. It appears when moisture gets in there, the relief valve does not function properly.

Why is there no recall on these bullshit trucks with air supension. Very dangerous when going down the highway and your truck is on tilt. We paid so much for a garage truck. Never buy a ram again.
@oBseSsIoNPC
@oBseSsIoNPC 5 лет назад
It is not just Ram trucks that are problematic. Different manufacturers, different models, different problems. The number of trucks they sold may have been too little to make it a worry for them. It becomes more pressing when someone gets hurt or killed by it. Before then, they have plenty of warnings for the operation of the suspension in place, that will cover them well in a law suit. I am still a total fan of RAM trucks, I knew I was buying something that may be problematic, but that is me as mechanic. A regular consumer may not think the same as me and predict issues.

Ok maybe my Dad and everyone else should all complain to CBC marketplace or something. THIS IS TOTAL GARBAGE, Did Doge even do cold weather testing on the air ride? Also my dad did not garage his truck when he had these problems. Did you garage your truck or leave it outside when you had these problems?
@oBseSsIoNPC
@oBseSsIoNPC 5 лет назад
I always keep the truck outside, having it in a garage might even amplify the problem, as you create more moisture in the system, through thawing and freezing. Perhaps that is why my truck works quite a bit more reliably. Dodge apparently did do cold weather tests and did not deem it to be necessary to address the issue before hand. The borderline low temp (so I was told) is -10'C, although I found that this is already causing enough problems. The one thing Dodge really should have done, is warn and educate operators of vehicles with air suspension, that they are taking on a lot of responsibility and are open for problems. Air suspensions are NOT simple and are NOT trouble free in ANY configuration. Dodge certainly made it a lot less reliable the way they configured it.

My issue is I seem to get the 'Immediate Air Suspension Service/Repair Required' message almost daily when temps fall below 20'F and then the suspension stops adjusting. Usually I can turn off the truck and wait a few mins and turn it back on and the alert is gone and suspension works fine again. But then I will probably see the message again later that day or the next. I frequently also see the 'air suspension cooling down please wait' message as well as it leads up to the more severe message. Will this battery blanket fix possibly help my issue? I have never woke up to my truck suspension deflated but I constantly get this message in the winter, hoping this may be an option for me. Thanks.
@oBseSsIoNPC
@oBseSsIoNPC 5 лет назад
My fix is not a guarantee for all the problems with the air suspension. However 9/10 cases are due to the compressor stalling or the control valve being frozen, which this fix will indeed cure. I don't think that roughly $50 dollars are a wasted investment on the suspension either way. This setup NEEDS additional heat during winter and it needs to be run more frequently with the blanket in use to move the moisture out, from the air tanks.

@oBseSsIoNPC
@oBseSsIoNPC 5 лет назад
@@braydon9493 There is no issue with that at all, the warnings are the same on all blankets and at 50W I would not worry at all, considering at -20'C the blanket will reach max 35'C anyway. I overlapped the blankets for years on my batteries, never the full length mind you. 25% overlap is perfectly acceptable.

I am certain it works perfectly fine in California, like most of the things they design in the States. In Canada or the western and northern part of the States, it will eventually show up with problems. I think it is a great suspension and just lacking a few things that are easily added aftermarket. There is no air-suspension that is fault free and anybody knows, anything more than a coil spring with non-adjustable shockd is asking for trouble.

My fix last year was the 20A fuse, this year it was a 2 hr stint in a warm parkade. I'll get the battery blanket on asap. Or, per comments below about worries of a blanket causing overheating due to insulation on warm days, an alternate might be www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/pipe-tracing-heating-tape-cables-0522584p.html, or a smaller, but strategically placed pad in the right area from Thermon?: www.chromalox.com/en/catalog/component-technologies/flexible-heaters/silicone-heaters/sln-silicone-rubber-insulated-general-purpose-heater?Watts=100&Volts=120&Width=2&Length=10 We use these on the OilPro PowerGen Stirling engine power generators to keep pumps and blowers happy in -40C.

Nah, no overheating issues with the blanket on, unless you are constantly ramping the suspension up and down in the summer. The heating cables are too weak. The best thing to do is buying the de-icer I have listed in my other video. Makes the BIGGEST difference by far. Good luck!

@@oBseSsIoNPC OK ditched the pipe wrap idea, and just put the Temron 50W blanket on, and did the brake line antifreeze trick in the 1 way valve behind the headlight too. Now I'll route the line to the front to the block heater so they're both hooked up next time there's a cold spell and I plug the truck in. I now realize I only wrapped the compressor, not the plastic outlet lines. I'll let you know how it holds up. While I was at it I punched a few more holes in the cover so any melted snow can drain easily. I also did the 40A breaker trick. Awesome advice. Thanks so much! Calgary is basking in a Chinook and of course she's level again. I'l report back on how she does the next cold spell.
