I am in awe of your kind and generous spirit. It radiates in all of your videos. I put my paint brushes down more than a year ago, when I lost the love of my life, and you have inspired me to pick my brushes back up. Thank you, Lori.
Oh my gosh Brenda...I'm so sorry for your loss. Suffering a loss can really challenge your creativity, but it can also really have you move through the grief. I'm so happy you found your way back to the brushes. 🥰🥰🥰
Hey Brenda, It's 10 months since you posted above but I was moved & wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss sweetheart. I hope with all my heart that these last months have been filled amongst other things with an abundance of painting, creative emotional healing & finding your groove again in your Artistry. Much love.
Your marks will always be unique to you so showing them will make no difference. No matter how anyone tries it would be impossible to copy your lines exactly. Showing how you do it just helps the artist understand what you use to do it and your results. I had done RU-vid video paintings and encouraged the artists to follow along and paint what I did. I told them they could copy the painting and call it there own. Then I asked them to send me a copy of the abstract. I got over 100 submissions and each was unique.
I want to be you when I grow up;). I am so drawn to your art over and over again. I am an artist at heart and have been painting for the last few years. Your process is amazing. I was watching one of your videos and thought oh my gosh that looks horrible! Then you totally pulled it together. HOW? You are great!
You remember me a little bit of myself......about the same age and i think in the way like you do : art can be a good business, when you do it the right way. You are just one ore two steps faster than me....one day , i also will be ( when i do the right way) a successfull artist. I live in Switzerland !
LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I am a new(untrained) artist and i've always bought golden paints and mediums however at times I think about buying something more affordable but Im glad I didn't do that because golden paints are the best. I watercolor too and most watercolor artists say brushes are so important however when Ive purchased the 50$ brush I don't see much of a difference and then it ends up in my slop sink for days or I leave it in the water jar w paint on it... point being I don't take care of my brushes so being able to buy cheap ones is my jam. Paint and paper are a whole different story. That I feel is very important.
Thank you Lori for making this particular video. And for sharing the reason why, and how you use your colours. And the medium to water down your acrylic, to keep it bind. It cost same as a colour . You are awesome dear. Keep up the good work appreciate this a lot | Qui
Ha! You are so cute and funny! I love, love, love your content. It's perfect for me right now as I'm learning myself right now what exactly is involved in becoming a professional artist! Such a perfect match with you as I am self-taught as well! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Being in front of the camera will come easier quickly. You're doing awesome and are beautiful! I love those gorgeous Liquitex brushes! They put on a nice, thin coat without drag marks. Sometimes that's handy when covering large areas over with a glaze! Also, you can use them for large scripting. So cool. Great content. I'll be watching and commenting and giving you a thumbs up on a regular basis!
Awwww truly thank you so much!! Yep anything over time will eventually become easier and easier lol. As soon as I’m caught up and have some time to play in the studio I’m going to bust out the new brushes and see what I do with them. Happy painting and thanks for the comment 😊😊😊
Oh Lori!! This video is just what I was talking about in my other post- figure out what makes the painting unique to us (which here you are suggesting we can do that with our mark making).
You’re doin great😉👍 the information is well communicated & delivery easy; reads as ‘sharing your artist experiential knowledge’- so go ahead & clap ... and forced smiles are detectable & read as insincere; forget that consult to smile more your authenticity is so much more effective
I love your videos!!!! And if you don't want to smile don't smile, who cares, I love that you're just doing your thing, keep us the awesome art and content!
Thanks for sharing your supplies Lori. I know what you mean, I have WAY TOO many art supplies. I really need to take your advice and use what I have. Honestly can you be addicted to buying art supplies LOL, I think I am lol
Thank you so much for this video and the many others I’ve binge watched over the last few days! I’m an amateur abstract painter and really appreciate the knowledge you share in your videos!
Aww thanks so much Shauna!! Finding your own voice is key!! I can’t stress that enough. 😊😊😊 I’m so glad you find it informative and inspiring. That makes the 10 hours of editing worth it for me 😊 happy painting!!!
I wish I had more time to make videos. I’m sure I’ll get better in time and faster. Lol tried to get two videos out this week but just not enough hours in the day.
Lori , really great info thank you. What kind of marker did you use to add the bright orange in this painting. Is it a stibalo . Do you spray the fixative over the pencil marks. Your fixative can be sprayed inside .? Your videos are awesome Lori 💐
no no I have never used stibalos before. This is a spray bomb. There is another video on youtube that shows me painting this piece. Yes, I talk in this video about spraying first with mat varnish. Thank you so much.
Thank you so, so much for sharing,I will take your advice to heart and apply it in my paintings, I am also teaching my 14 year old daughter to paint as a way of expressing herself, children who are challenged need to have their creative side accentuated and it helps when they love what their doing....anyways just wanted to say thank you❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦
Wonderful video! Full of tips on paint...was always wondering how you get fluid colours from acrylic tubes. I use mediums but I find it hard to mix large quantities! Those large Liquitex cans with nozzle look great!
Thanks very much for sharing! I just discovered your youtube-channel! Will watch your other movies too.......I love abstract, but find it much more harder than other styles of painting! Thanks again!
Thanks again for sharing all your tools and supplies. Lori , a couple of questions , can you paint with pastels over acrylic or viceversa ? And if is yes , do you varnish everything at the end ?
I like the way you present. I don't think you need to smile unless you're feeling it. Authentic is best. Also don't worry about your camera skills. Your content is strong. Subscribed. 🤪
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist haha mine is covered with paint...hair stays wet until the air dries it. You are one of the neater artists I’ve seen.😁💫❤️
I buy all my art supplies at Gwartzman's! Been doing that since I was in my twenties, and now I'm 65. Thanks for doing this vid. I use inks, as well. very nice.
You are lovely and doing a fantastic job !!! Great informative video !!! I haven’t explored much out of my one brand of acrylics so this was super interesting .
Thank you!!! Great details!!! I’m dying to know about your easel & where I can get one!!! I love watching you create your masterpieces!!! I work much the same way, only on a much smaller scale...my glorious red Beats headphones & some insanely awesome & soothing jazz...the dancing is mandatory!!! 😁 Thank you for the inspiration & courage to carry on creating!!! 💝 Keep up the great work!!!
oh the easel is way too small for the work I do but i purchased this on at Micheal's art store when they were on sale. I need a heavy duty one. But I have something in the work so I'm sticking with this one until the new studio is built.
Hi Lori, thanks for all this great info and apologies if you've already answered this question before. Who do you get your stretched canvases from? I've been using Michaels and Curry's in Ontario for years but always looking for alternatives. Thanks!
Ditto to every single comment here! :) Thank you for sharing your art knowledge with the world, I really appreciate every nugget of advice, tips and demonstrations that you have passed on. Looking forward to seeing all of your videos.
Just joined your RU-vid today and going right back to the start to get the whole journey. I love your work and style. The process fits with the way I am starting to find my own style. I am stuck right now with a picture but realise whilst watching you work that I’ve started to fine tune too soon. There’s not enough going on to spark an interest so I going to have another play!! I love watching artists paint from start to finish. I follow quite a few but notice one common factor…..hardly any show the final stage as in the finishing when it arrives…..I don’t know why this is anyone any clues? Alison
Welcome and glad you are enjoying my videos. To answer your question it’s because everyone’s art should be there own. Showing the final layers is where the magic happens and what sets artists apart from each other. Think of it as a signature. You won’t go to a restaurant and see the recipe listed on their menu for their secret wing sauce or salad dressing. It’s the same for paintings. Some thing just need to stay with the artist. 😊
Oh my god just watching your art supplies video and you kind of explain why you don’t show the end process. I have my mark making end too But would still like to see some “end” work from you. Thanks Alison
Such a great video on supplies. I’m pretty much just a water color artist moving towards Abstract. It’s overwhelming all the different supplies so this is very helpful. Question- what can I put over failed watercolor paintings to start over? Gesso? Thanks if anyone can answer that. Also , is there a video on framing or I guess the best thing is paint on the canvases I see here where You just can hang. PS keep on clapping Lori ! Your awesome !
by framing do you mean stretching?? As for water colour...there is no painting over....true colourist allow the paper to to be part of the painting...If you cover the paper with gesso it won't have the same affect. If you just want to paint as practise then sure gesso it up lol
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist Ahh yeah finding new “go tos” can be a bit tough. Maybe try looking for well reviewed places on Google Maps or ask anyone whose hair you like. Best of luck!! ✨
What about using a pouring medium in order to make the paint more fluid? I think it will do the job and will probably be cheaper than the medium you are using... what do you think?
Love u and ur work. Don't worry about ur videos there great. And keep up ur good work 😍. It would be nice if u can show how to spray and varnish a finshed painting. I need to varnish mine but I'm afraid of spoiling it. Please help 😍😘
Thanks for all your great info Lori. I ordered a bag of brushes that looked like the one you showed us from Amazon and they are terrible 😳ha. Lori could I ask you to please look back at your Amazon account when you have time and send the Amazon link by chance ? I love your little wooden brush you use a lot 😊. Thanks so much Lori
This is one kind and the other one was angled but I can't find the link for those. www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B075TZ99S3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Great to see all your supplies Lori! One question...what are you using when you spray a graffiti type line to your paintings? Appreciate your generosity :)
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist So, I have Liquitex spray paints which are luscious, but the spray is defused...how do you achieve your line with them. Just love that and all your work.
I was wondering if you seal your paintings. Do you spray some kind of UV water based poly or something similar? Maybe the spray you use to protect the layers?
Love your videos 😊Lori. I’m having trouble finding a variety of golden fluid acrylic. Where do you buy yours May I ask. Also Lori did you buy the big liquitex on Amazon ? I guess there is shortage with Covid 😳. I feel lucky that I got to take your online classes and I’ve watched the videos so many times. Can’t wait for your next video 😊🌹
Aww thanks so much!! Yes the ones you see currently were purchased from Amazon. But I’m now with Deserres directly and my orders are taken care of them directly. Hopefully the shortage doesn’t last long.
@@TheSassyd3 no they don’t but they contacted me to become a zone member. Because I buy in such large quantities they fill my orders directly from the companies so I order the large sizes. 😊 Deserres is a lovely company.
Hi Lori, a little question, are there sizes of canvas we should privilege or avoid for commercial purpose and if we want to exhibit in galleries, and it is safer to paint horizontal paintings than vertical ones? Thank you! :)
I'm currently trying to learn how to use Tech. It fries my right brain 😭 I can't find any of those supplies in my country where can you buy them online?
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist thank you will check it out now. And thank you for the videos. Are your paintings priced from 2million or is it thousands? I honestly couldn't tell on your website. I really like your paintings
I love painting in the mixed media realm. I am looking for stiffer bristle brushes, any suggestions? I work in acrylic, cheap, and more expensive brands. What about brushes for oil painting?
Thanks! So grateful for your videos. I have been struggling to find large bottles of Golden and Liquitex paint. Can you share where you get your supplies?
I'm not sure where you are from so that might make a difference. get all my supplies from Deserres art store. I'm a zone member so they order them directly from Liquitex as the larger sizes aren't posted on their site, yet lol. I'm hoping I can influence them to change that lol
@@lorimirabelliabstractartist ok thanks! I am on the Quebec side of the Outaouais region (across from Ottawa) and I also get my supplies from Deserres. Just not seing those sizes. I was give my local store a call. Thanks so much for your quick response! Happy Valentine’s Day 😊
Hi Maryse, no those sizes aren't listed. I'm a zone member so I have a contact person there that I send my order to. When you call tell them that I sent you and that you are interested in the large size bottles. I have been in talks with them about carrying those sizes in stock. Right now they order them straight from the company so delivery takes much longer. If there is enough interest then they will start carrying them in stock !!!
Hi :+) You are doing a great job on your you tube videos! Do you have a video that says where to buy the large bottles of Liquitex and Golden acrylic paint?
Hi again and thanks for the very detailed and useful info. I'm in u.k. but will try and obtain the same supplies here. Big problem.... I make a lot of glass art, blown, wall (flat) and crafty stuff e.g. mirrors, table lamps, and some VERY large and heavy water features (78"×30"). Most of my glass is in u.s.a. whilst I am now, for personal reasons, based in u.k. mostly painting watetcolours and mixed media. Please have you any suggestions as to the cheapest, safest method of packing flat and 3D glass to either sell in u.s.a. or transport to u.k. to sell. I have contacted shippers, affordable, but packers are astronomical and therefore uneconomical. Has to transport by air. Any suggestions are very much appreciated. Meantime, thanks in anticipation, and thanks for all the VERY useful help you have already given. Off now to try make a website. 💕 Mx
