Switching things up on the channel as I have two similar products that I figured I would put head to head! This video was so much fun to make, especially once I figured out that Curlsmith Hair Makeup (Copper) and As I Am Curl Color Gel (Bold Gold) were two COMPLETELY different shades! I almost didn't even want to continue the video, but I pushed through for you guys!
You'll have to watch the video entirely to see who came out victorious! Leave a comment below on which side you like better! I liked the Curl Smith side more. The burnt orange looked more natural than the As I Am side. Overall I really liked the finished product. I think now I'm going to buy some Curl Smith Color Gel for my hair.

As far as color and texture looks goes I vote Curlsmith, but As I Am seemed to provide more volume.

I know this is an old clip, but I am always late to the game and it helped me to decide which brand and colour to try. The results are insane! I was scared but am so glad I tried it. I will be doing more temp colours now. Thanks for the comparison video, keep 'em coming😊😊.

Curlsmith specifically says you need a leave in conditioner before you use it. I don’t know if it would hold everyone’s hair, but it holds mine.

I've never used these products on dry hair; always wet and with conditioner, which is the recommendation on the CurlSmith packaging. I like them both. The As I looks honey blond. But you should compare the Curlsmith gold with the as I am color you used.

Definitely loving the curlsmith side great video the curls came out beautiful. I have the color copper and ruby from curlsmith but haven’t tried it yet. I think the curlsmith gold might be closer to the as I am bold gold. It would be cool if you could do a battle with Curlsmith’s Ruby and as I am red.

What about transfer? I've tried mofajang hair wax and curlsmith color gel out of the 2 curlsmith has less transfer but they both still got on my shirt, skin throughout the day, aswell as fingers if you touch your hair. Any other product recommendations anyone?

I have the ASIAM gold. Have not tried it yet because I have temp color in my hair already. I don't know if it is alright to use with my temp color. I am going to buy the red.

Yesss!! This makes me want to compare my hair paint wax with the curlsmith now. Those curls looked beautiful!! OMGGG. I’m ready to curl mine now. No issues with the color bleeding on your sheets, clothes, car seats, etc? That’s the only reason I’m hesitant to try my hair paint wax again 😭

Thanks for your video! I’ve been getting back into experimenting with hair colors, but this time I don’t want to risk damaging my hair as before, especially not while on my natural hair journey. I’ll try both of these products out, but I think I’m leaning more towards the Curlsmith one. I’m using a Gold color by Colorffect right now and my biggest issue with this is that it transfers- big time! Did these products transfer for you?

How was the spread for each product? I have the as I am, And it is thick. I figured Curl Smith must have better spread than as I am since it’s less ounces in the product and in your other video when you use the red as I am products you use majority of the contents in one use.

I have all of curlsmith colors! I must say the copper n the ruby r my favorite. I put the rose pink in my daughter’s hair. She’s 3 n she loves it. But this made me want to try the as I am. Great video!

I love Curlsmith. I have tried other brands and they flake. I have never had that issue with Curlsmith. It doesn't come off until you add water

I liked the curlmith on you but... I felt like the Bold Gold had a more defined curl! I liked how full your hair looked after you did the red color gel. In this video your hair looked a little droopy and your expression wasn't as happy as it was when you ended the last video!! Anywho, after I watched your other video I went and got a bunch of colors (buy 1, get 1 half off) and I'm about to experiment, I'm starting with purple. Yeah curlsmith won this for me. The curlsmith color that would’ve gone better with the As I Am is their Gold. To me the gold look better on hair that’s already blonde but when added to dark hair it gives off a greenish hue after a few hrs. Curlsmith has a more natural look

Did you experience any flaking with the Curlsmith? I tried the Curlsmith gold color and there was soooo much flaking. I wasn't impressed. I have heard the Curlsmith gold one was one of the worse ones from the ones they created. My Hair feels very hard and almost looks like a shiny wig LOL

That’s crazy! I had the best experience with the curl smith side, there was no flaking, a soft hold and my curls last. I didn’t add any product with curl smith I just used it by it’s self. But no I had no problems at all!

I'm glad it's not just me! I experienced flaking with the curlsmith copper too. I realized it does not mix well with thick leave-in conditioners. Mine clumped up so bad. I had to wash it out and reapply with a very watery detangler/ leave-in. But my hair feels so dry. The wax ones (Like ORS Color Blast) mixes well with other products but flakes a little. So as of rn, the wax wins for me. I will have to experiment with other spray leave-ins to see which mix well with curlsmith. I'm sad I payed $20 for a product that is hard to work with.

@@kelliebean246 I used Melanin multi use conditioner as my leave in. I had no issues with flaking using Curlsmith. Did you sit under a dryer to let the color set?

@@terris.1177 Oh, I did not. I didn't really think to do that. 😅 I found that I can use whatever leave-in I want as long as I let it set in some and my hair is not super damp with product on it. 🤷🏽‍♀️ But I will definitely keep the dryer in mind for next time. 🤔

I bought the red, the copper and the blue is coming from Curlsmith. The price is high, but I believe you should get the best to look the best...if you can. Price is important, so I would say when you have the money and do yourself a favor, get the best if it does not take away from something more important!!!

Sis, you kept mentioning the color difference which is why I have to write this comment: Copper is NOT the same color as gold! Plain and simple. You should not look at the color of the packaging as an actual reference. I am sure you learned from this.
