There was a discussion at the end (around 1:50:00) about the Abandoned Stave/Calcified Ember event. I do think there are circumstances in which I've skipped that event. They usually involve a deck with an incant strategy that's really not quite there yet in the midgame, and I worry that the extra blights will prevent me from getting through to the late game when the deck will be more tuned. Seeing the upgraded Draff in the challenge submitter's deck makes me think that maybe they skipped that event because they were worried about not drawing their non-priority unit in time? On a separate note, with Dark Calling Rector and Votive Key, this run was a Cheater's Hand away from having the most annoying you-have-to-plan-your-entire-turn-before-playing-anything trifecta.

I was a bit flippant about it in this video, but you're right. You need to weigh how important it is for you to hit certain cards ASAP in the next few combats and how much value you derive from the ember if you go that route. I very rarely skip it because I am comfortable trading Pyre HP for the power swing in either case, but sometimes you're far enough behind that you can't take the risk.

Super fun run! I always find Cilophyte to be really awkward to navigate, but you pwned this one pretty hard

I had that same crash message for MT a few days ago, thought it was a bit weird an that might be something wrong with my PC, but guess it's actually MT

I was literally telling someone yesterday that subsuming blade feels like it only really works with spell weakness support if you want it to carry you, and you go and kill divinity with spell weakness subsuming blade. Coincidence?

Awesome video! Interesting, so the blade increase damage is persistent between rings?
@lvlen-125
@lvlen-125 2 года назад
Yes. Note the word "permanently", as this is not the only time the term appears in the game.
@RisingDusk
@RisingDusk 2 года назад
Right, exactly. Normally you're looking to get Subsuming Blade to around 30 damage for it to be a "good card", but if you can get it higher then it can become an exceptional card like you saw here.

I have a seed ive tried twice now. Both times i have died in midgame. It really seems doable because all the tools are there but i dont seem to be able to do it for some reason. Would love to see you navigate it so i can learn what i did wrong. Challenge: LuxuryNationSticky

Hell yeah! I've added it to the list and will 100% play it, but it will probably be a month or so before it ends up on the channel due to other submissions ahead of you in the queue.

Something that I want to point out is that you kept picking bottom floor for your Recktor. I'm not sure if that was the right play or not. It feels like it has its pros and cons that should be taken into account before slamming. It is something you usually do because then you get your reforms immediately, but it also did cause you some relentless troubles where you almost didn't reform your unit in time. I guess if fast scaling is your issue, then you want him bottom, but wouldn't it be better to play him top if you are afraid of your burnout timers for relentless? (Also want to point out that the person who submitted the run had 105 shards on ring 5 going into harvesters of death crystal cloak. Fucker never stood a chance.)

This is something that gravitates naturally out of wanting the flexibility of reforming units dying on any floor. I've gotten so used to this being correct so long as Rector won't die, that it's rarely a consideration for me to set up elsewhere. Perhaps it's something I should give a little more discussion/consideration.

@WungusBillThat kind of stopped being the case after he first got the Penitent Remands. His sweeper was scaling so rapidly, the single turn lag times no longer mattered, since you can just have Rector top and reform your cylophite the first turn. Having the extra turns then just means you are less picky about what you put in your reform pool and fill up your floors. There was one combat that he almost just leaked an entire boss, but lucked out and drew the burnout extension the turn before his guy burned out and his Rector died.

The guy played a perfect run. I would think his decisions were pretty good. It would be like if a football team won every game and You're debating if the coach should have swapped running backs or not.
@BeginswithPIE
@BeginswithPIE 2 года назад
@@robertdascoli949 Just because you won, doesn't mean there weren't unnecessary risks or missed opportunities. For example, he had an endless stealth tomb that wasn't stacking any stealth on anything, because he had Rector and Shark bottom floor and didn't want to stealth Shark, and everything else was burning out. I feel the correct play for midgame, when he still only had 1 sweep unit, would have been to have Rector mid floor with the stealth tomb after getting the size upgrade, so that he could stack stealth on Rector and still have the flexibility for reforming his sweeper in early turns while stacking dregs behind the shark, since they represented a lot of damage. Then he could control whether he needed the immediate reform or to place it bottom, and stealthed Rector would have represented a good 400~500 damage in relentless in a worst cares scenario. It would have avoided that near fumble of his sweep unit going into relentless, which could have cost him, as he would have had no Rector, his scaled unit burned out and a nearly full health boss to deal with with only an endless shark, which still wasn't self infused and didn't have a +25 yet. He probably would have lost. If the situation was even slightly different. If he had a hold over or frozen burnout extension, or if he had a saw a back up reform card or something else to protect his relentless (the things you always look for when playing reform Rector), then bottom floor would be 100% correct. I am not saying that he didn't do a good job. I am just saying that he is treating putting reform Rector bottom as something you just always do, and you never want to get into the sort of habits where you just do something without thinking because that play has always been 'correct'. In strategy games, all habits are bad habits.
