Thanks Jon for the clear explanation on the winter cab temp issue. You're right. Well engineered! An argument could be made that for a rugged Minnesotan you might be getting a bit soft but we'll leave that for another day! ;)

You’re welcome Dave, yes I might not be as rugged as I used to be. However I’m also a little smarter than I used to be. Thanks again for the great question and thanks for watching. God bless

Great video packed with all the right information as are all your other videos. Well done and thanks for taking the time to pass on all this useful information. I own a 2018 Kubota BX2380 and absolutely love it. I have a front end loader with bucket, Land Pride 60" snow box for snow removal and a Kubota 51" rear mounted snowblower (hydraulic controlled all the way!) using the Land Pride QH05 Series Quick hitch for mounting. The Quick Hitch is great! I'm in Canada in the province of Manitoba. The winters are brutally cold and we sure get our fair share of snow in the prairies!. My Kubota is busiest in the winter cleaning my driveway, the street along my house as I have a large corner lot and I clean between 8-12 neighbours' driveways (4-6 car driveways). Everyone is happy on my street! You sold me on getting a Curtis Premium Cab and I asked my local dealer for a quote yesterday. My hopes for a heated cab have been dashed as the cost is $10,640! I'm so disappointed!! Oh well, as the cab is a no-go, I'm hoping that I can find an Artillian ROPS Bar-Mount Tool Rack as it would be so useful to hold my snow shovels, driveway ice chopper, etc. I could also use the large basket to hold my Stihl BR 600 Magnum backpack blower which I use to clear snow off walkways and house entrances. I saw that you had a draw for an Artillian tool rack! Lucky guy who won it!! Thanks again for all the great info on the Curtis Premium heated cab. The cab will have to remain a dream and I'll invest in heavier winter clothing! Lol
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 3 года назад
Sounds like you a very helpful neighbor keeping everyone happy. I would imagine it get very cold where you're at. The Curtis cab is expensive for sure. I paid around $5500 for mine. If you'd like a cheaper option Curtis makes an Advantage series that will still keep you warm. Then there is also Original Tractor Cab and they make a soft sided cab that you can get with many different options. Check out Biff's Equipment channel. He just installed one and he is very happy with it. You need a heated cab!! I appreciate you watching and the comments. Keep on tractoring!

@@ritterjon Hi and thanks for your response. Having a heated cab would be much more comfortable while cleaning my driveway and my neighbours. There is no doubt about that. Typical winter temperatures in Manitoba are between -18C (-1F) and -27C (-16F) with windchills in the between -30C (-22F) to -40C (-40F) easily. Last week we had -47C windchill (-52F). It's the wind that is a really killer. Anyhow. I was ready to pay $5K-$6K for that cab but over $10K is crazy. I have researched the Curtis Advantage cab and I don't like it. Plus I absolutely need a rear wiper as I have a rear mounted snowblower and the Premium cab has that option. Anyhow, I'll just have keep dressing very warm and be very efficient in my snow clearing! Lol I will keep my eyes open for a used cab. Never know if one comes available. Thanks again for all the info on the cab. Much appreciated. You're a very lucky guy to have that cab.

We live in N.E. Iowa about 30 minutes from the Minnesota border and it gets pretty cold here too. I drive my Kubota L2501 up to my Dad's woods which is about a 35 minute tractor drive from where we live. That gets to be a pretty cold ride sometimes. I usually have so many clothes on that if I were to fall down, I would have to have help to get stood back up. Great video as always Jon. Very informative. Thanks for sharing. Gary from Iowa

i like that system in regards to the engine screen, replacing the piece with a sealed unit for winter. i just bought a nice condition BX2350 with curtis cab. the new tractor sure is nice, the older tractor is still a great machine. its too bad curtis didnt do the same with the older curtis cab. i got the tractor with heated curtis cab, barely used 54" mower, and a 46" meteor snowblower. the tractor has 395 hours on it when i bought it and i paid 8,500. i figure for a brand new setup like that it would cost almost 20 grand. i dont know how people can afford that much
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 5 лет назад
You did well on that purchase, that's a great price and great machine that will last you a long time. You'll really enjoy that cab in the winter months and even just having some shade in the summer time is great. I used to have a BX25 and it was a great machine. Keep on tractoring!

I'm waiting on my BX2680 with quick attach loader & bucket, 50" tiller, and 54" box blade, yep about $20k for new. Only 395 hours on your machine, if its in that good of condition it could have easily sold for twice what you paid for it, nice score on your machine.

I see in your video yours rests on the side of the window which is my preferred position, but mine stops at the top of stroke which is in the middle of my view. I’m wondering if you happen to know of any adjustments available.

Thanks Jon for all the great Curtis Cab video's, I think I've seen them all. New BX 23S owner here, I'm eyeballing the deluxe cab for our New England Winters. My big question is: If I'm pretty handy as a DIYer, can I take this cab completely off in the Summer time? or once it's installed is it quite permanent?
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 4 года назад
The biggest issue would be the plumbing for the heater. However. Being able to take the doors and back panel off is all you really need for the summer. It takes just seconds to do. I’ve never had my cab off and don’t really plan on it. I like the roof over my head blocking the sun. Keep on tractoring!

Great video , now I have a couple of questions when changing from summer to winter should you replace metal plate for winter use is that it,I presently have a bx 2370 which involves vinyl cover over shroud with tiny sponge pieces inside the engine compartment to be changed. Second how difficult or easy is replacing or installing front loader,I have always had a problem with one pin fitting while second pin always present a problem. And last how do you like the attachment for snow blower ,again attaching short drive shift can be difficult and the new system seems much easier. I’m also considering the drive on mower deck as that also can be a challenge to remove or install. Thanks in advance, Roger Karstofsky
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 6 лет назад
Hi Roger, yes the metal plate gets reinstalled during winter use to keep the fan from sucking the heated air out of the cab. The loader is pretty easy to take off and install. I really like the flat head hydraulic couplings. I haven’t hooked the snow blower up to this new tractor yet. However the short shaft can make it difficult as it was on my BX25 but that is something I only do once a year. Yes the new front mount system looks better designed to me. Thanks for watching and keep on tractoring.

It’s just like a new car, it’s something you get used to. But I think they did a pretty good job making the sight lines in the cab about as good as they could. Jon, Hope your enjoying your kubota with cab, I have a small dilemma regarding the grab handles which they have removed due to lack of roam I assume. Do you find getting in and out of the tractor without grab handles a problem. I thought kubota would have given more thought to there design before just removing them . What are your thoughts on this matter. Thanks, Roger Karstofsky
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 5 лет назад
Hi Roger I really don’t find a need for grab handle at all. I think it’s very easy getting into and out of the BX cab. Now granted I’m rather tall and it doesn’t seem like a big step for me. However I suppose if a guy wanted to install some grab handles it was be a relatively easy thing to do.

STEVE ROB REVIEWS It is aftermarket put on by the dealer. There was a lot of cooperation in the design elements of this cab between Curtis and Kubota from what I discovered in my research. This is as close to a factory cab you can get in this series. Take care Steve God bless.

There's 2 cab options it looks like....The Premium option is the only cab that will work with the BX23S however: curtisindustries.net/product/kubota-bx80-oem-cab/ But the premium cab gives you not only heat but gives you the option for AC as well on the newest model.

Hello again Jon, It's been awhile since my last comment. I wanted to ask you if building a BX 23s on the factory site is with the Curtis Cab or another made by Kubota, since they advertise a specific cab for the BX 23s and don't comment on who the manufacturer is. I was ready to buy my new BX23s but my wife took priority with a new car request. DARN ! ...Great video's Thanks again. John Brontmire
@ritterjon
@ritterjon 6 лет назад
Hello John, I’m assuming they are giving you the price for the Curtis Cab as they have a partnership with them. However if you are in Canada it might be a Tektite cab which in my opinion isn’t as good as it lacks many features. I paid almost $5000 for my cab. With heat, front and rear wipers and front and rear lights. Not cheap, but warmth is worth every penny where I live. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and God bless

That's ok, I'll take a brand new one fresh out of the crate and I'll wait a few weeks, I'm in no hurry been waiting 30 years for this moment in my life that I can finally buy a tractor HAHA!!!
