I change all my fuel filters on my diesels right before winter. Definitely worth while. Also, depending on how cold you get, block heaters are fantastic. Anytime you can keep equipment inside when not in use helps but not always an option.

Great video Brock, I live in North Alabama in the Huntsville area, where it can get in the low teens but doesn’t stay that for an extended time normally. Comparatively, we probably have what a lot of your listeners we have mild winters. All I did to my STIHL chainsaw was add a little bit of gas treatment to it just prior to last winter months. When I got ready to use it in late fall, early spring I just, checked the oil, primed it, pulled the pull cord a couple times & cranked right up & hasn’t missed a beat. But now you got me thinking, maybe I should run it out of fuel? P.S. Watch your videos almost daily & really enjoy them. Keep up the good work!!!

For my diesel fuel I use stanadyne all season or amsoil fuel treatment. Both work excellent. Power service or Howes will gell. Project Farm has an excellent video of which diesel fuel treatment works. In my kubota mower I just use amsoil quickshot it cleans and keeps the gas stable while not in use. But I also randomly run it to keep the battery up during the winter. All of my 2stroke stuff is running amsoil saber professional at a 100:1 mix. Also has fuel stabilizer in it. Haven't had an issue one on anything since using these products. I may get some flack for my comments but everyone can use what they want. But these products work for me and I will keep using them. I've always wanted a cab for my kubota l3130 but it's nice in spring having open station.

I wonder if it isn't condensation building on the outside of the tire, because of the fluid on the inside, that is dripping down to the bottom of the tire. If it goes away on a warm day, I'd say it is that.

Makes a lot of sense. There would be many times the fluid temp of the ballast would be different than ambient. I usually keep my tractor in the garage but I’m going to pay attention when I’m in those conditions and see if I see the same thing.

Fluid leaking out at rim edge could be corrosion between rubber and rim. Some tire ballist is corrosive after time. Only way I know how to fix is deflate , the bead and clean away rust, paint and inflate :/

Brock, have you heard from anyone on ease of removing the Curtis cab completely? Trying to decide between it and the OTC for my new 2025R and during summer mode I want to remove the cab completely as I prefer the open station then, but in the winter want an enclosure!

I do love the a/c and heat in my cab. I couldn't imagine doing hours of brush cutting in the dry, dusty heat of the summer without a cab with a/c. The cab on my Kioti DK5310SE added about $6k, so not at all a cheap purchase. But, buy once cry once, I figure. Take care and God Bless!

Good video. I prefer convex mirrors mounted high enough on the cab to avoid walking into them. For winterizing: antifreeze to forty below, Fuel 50-50 mix #1 and #2 with proper amount of anti-gel to thirty below, changing to a lighter grade of engine oil and a good working block heater.

I have an old farmtrac which is just like a ford. It’s a 2004 model with 35 horse power. My dad has me keep the bionic blade to keep the drive way graded throughout the winter. Now my older tractor may be built a bit bigger and stronger than a new 35 hp tractor but all I do to make sure it will run in the winter is make sure it is good on anti freeze and make sure the hydraulic oil isn’t frozen if it’s below 40

Fuel additive, check the antifreeze, and install tire chains. Although this year I never took the chains off because I never used my tractor on my lawn. I may even get chains for the front tires this year. On ice, you can only turn the wheel a little way before they just slide. They also have trouble turning in deep snow. Carhartt bibs and a warm hooded coat are the only other things I do to winterize. I'd be interested in knowing what is causing that moisture on your tires. I've never seen that before.

Interesting. I’ve never put an anti-gel product in my diesel truck, but maybe I should start as this will be the first winter where it sits for a bit since I bought a commuter car. And since the tractor will be sitting at times I probably should for it as well.

It’s possible that the bead between the tire and rim is dirty. I remember you had a flat repair. If the tire came off the bead and was not properly cleaned before reinstalled that could cause your leak. I’m only running 10psi in my rear R4 tires and don’t have any issues.

What you want to do is powerwash EVERYTHING. Then grease it up to get the water out of the bearings pto shafts skid loaders lawnmowers you name it. Then change the oil and fuel,oil,air and hyrdrloic filters. and lastley take the front end of all the pto shafts and label them and put them in the shop out of the way. We used to not do that and we were parking the tractor and just barley hit the pto shaft to the batwing and popped the cv joint out of place. 1500 dollars later we have a new shaft.

Brock, Any issues with condensation /freezing in extreme negative temperatures? Not sure how you'd deal with as the tractor has no heater. Looks like it does a good job of keeping dust and debris out of your face.
@genewilliams7497
@genewilliams7497 Год назад
Make sure the air pressure in all your tires is correct…. Or 2-3 lbs above spec. Especially the fronts. Cold temps drop the pressure a ton and cold makes the rubber brittle which can cause some seepage of fluid 2-3 lbs above spec air pressure will prevent a rolled off tire bead which is a real B_ _ ch To deal with in subzero temps/weather. Pro tip….. keep your John Deere tractor when you get a bigger 60hp cab tractor. You will never regret it. Beside not having to take the backhoe off there are certain things that a smaller tractor does bette than a larger one. You are gonna really love your new A/C cab tractor this coming summer!! 😂😂😂. The AC Cab is really about the dust and breathing it. As you age your lungs really need to be protected. You will be MUCH healthier with the AC and no dust. I use all my tractors year round but the one thing that I always do is inspect and tighten if necessary all the hose clamps and hoses & it’s a great time to replace belts while you are looking everything over also a perfect to check all your lug nots and bolts on the loader. Big temperature swings having a way of magically working things loose. Another great topic and content. That Curtis cab has served you well!!

Everyone should checkout Hot Shots Secret fluids. They are the best in my opinion along with tons of other reviewers. They primarily have stuff for diesel but also gas engjnes. Any machine I have, I start off with stiction oil treatment in the first oil change followed by FR3 the next interval. They're very innovative and in demand with big rig truckers. I run it in every engine gas or diesel with noticeable results. Antigel and extreme fuel additives are a staple for my tractors in winter. Aside from mechanical maintenance, checkout Chemical Guys automotive ceramic winter protection for anything you own. Easy to apply and very hydrophobic. Surely makes cleaning easier and vehicles looking thier best.
