It was more meaningful when I came up. If you have children, teach them the best you can. You can't determine their outcome, but I child given the right way to live and treat everyone, they will have their hard times, but what YOU INSTILL in them will save their life 🙏🏾❤️❤️ Peace be with you and your family 🙏🏾
I don't know why I'm crying listening to this. The words are beyond beautiful. Takes me back to the movie Claudine with Diahann Carol. The world misses Curtis Mayfield 😙
Precisely my sentiments for him as a human being with much needed talents that continue to cultivate the heart of HUmanity! I am eversograteful for the lyrics of The Making of You! Quite a mantra to my ever evolving life! RIPOWER Curtis!❤️
You can tell from his songs that he was definitely a clever guy. When i hear his music and lyrics i dont think "darn, i wish i would have come up with that" but rather "i could never have come up with that"
re:@Rick Corbett Jr.// I thank god for you I am glad he created your heart & soul because that is the nicest thing ever said about a black artist and I couldn't agree the more "he certainly was awesome & truly missed" besides my mom was a devoted fan whom actually had the pleasure to meet him back in 1972 three months after my birth I remember her sharing this story with me when I was a teenager that my dad was jealous for a moment but then he finally got over it which I thought was adorable take care peace..
He wrote, produced, arranged, composed and sung lead on a lot of songs, movie scores, etc…Curtis Mayfield was great, he was Prince long, long before Prince!
I want to thank him for all he's done for his people in the fight against injustice all while blessing us with his beautiful voice and lyrics. Thank you Mr. Mayfield R.I.P.
@@penniecollins8558 people tend to forget that Curtis Mayfield was also an social activist and he did it through the expression of his songs like moving on up and people get ready
He's both a singer and the storyteller. Just a remarkable man I love the Claudine Soundtrack with Gladys Knight singing. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FNOGXKLqUEI.html And Whitney's remake of Look In Heart.
Rop 10 Producers of all time that's next to quincy next to isaac next j dilla net to kanye next to willie hutch next to teddy riley next to pete rock and alll the other greats
There hasn't been one single time I've ever heard this song that I didn't get deep into my feelings, tear up or begin to outright cry. One of the most beautiful songs ever written. ❤
Cheryl Pierce This man had so much more to give. I recall the release of "Super Fly" - What a sound track - to this day I still listen to "Pusher Man" with such delight. Lets rest assured that he is teaching someone somewhere what Smooth, Cool Dignity is all about :-) Thanks for this great post.
Such a beautiful song. I'm so glad I'm a baby boomer to grow up during the 60s and 70s when more songs were written from the heart and were timeless classics.
I grew up around the corner from Leo,s Casino at 75th and Euclid Ave in Clev Ohio, where The Great Curtis Mayfield and the Impression could be heard out on the sidewalk up to E 79st. One of the Greatest performances of my lifetime ,early 1960,sGod Bless Curt and the Guys The Impressions
One of the most profound songs in the world, beautiful, just beautifu, when I was younger I used to go to sleep to songs like this when my mother would clean the house late night or just vibin with her oldie but goodie..! "I guess 81 people wasn't satisfied with the making of them.." 🤣🤣🤣 times were so simple then..!... bring em back 😫 lol
Wonderful musical composer as well. We don't see this kind of creativity anymore. We see either like free-form avant garde ultra-creative stuff or boring, generic stuff we've heard a thousand times. This kind of creativity, which isn't totally inside the box or totally outside the box, but transcends the boundaries of the box in a way that extends the boundaries of the box, is rare. In other words, making unusual and different but familiar and relatable music. The more familiar and accessible, the more people will borrow from it and be influenced by it. The more unusual it is, the more it expands our minds. It's hard to thread that needle but marvelous when it happens. That's how music evolves properly.
He was a gifted songwriter and vocalist who composed an impressive range of songs, politically and otherwise, which have lasted and have been enjoyed for over sixty years!
Was watching the movie "Claudine" with Diane Carol and James Earl Jones and this song was in the movie. I remember hearing it before but it's been sooooo long ago. It's just beautiful and breathtaking❤️❤️❤️❤️. I'm gonna put it in my wedding❤️❤️❤️
The man was a genius he wrote every word and every little piece of music. I listen to the words of his songs and can't help but think this was a genuine good-hearted man.
Curtis Mayfield! Your brilliance is 💯!!!! Your VOICE! It's so SPIRITUAL. A RAPTURE! My Mind Is Blown!!!! Oh, my! I could listen to you Every. Single. Day. Of. The. Year. I just dropped the MIC!
got married in march and this was the song my wife walked in to. not a dry eye in the house. lol my father in law was the worst, he could not keep it together.
I learned about Brother Curtis as a Kindergartner in 1962 because he was one of my Father's Favorite Artists and he played his music Daily. Inspirational and Uplifting Lyrics and Music touched me then and when I was old enough I bought his Curtis LIVE Album at 14. Then Superfly was popular as well. Needless to say his Body Of Work spans Generations. It has contributed to the Sounds of the early 1960s Civil Rights Movement all the way through the Black Films of the 70's and beyond. This particular Ballad touched me when I first heard it and still does to this day. Brother Curtis was a National Treasure for us.
Curtis is so underrated this song just takes me to another place I grew up listening to his music and I was not only entertained but inspired by songs like keep on pushing were a winner and my favorite I'm so proud his beautiful music empowered and inspired black people
This man here, loved him to the moon and back...Chicago born and bred....he makes me proud to be a Chicagoan...listening to him now give me chills. Talent personified!
I am not big into Curtis but every single time I come across his music I am blown away. The man had super spirit and certainly contributed to humanity. This is stellar right here.
The most beautiful romantic song ever... It's 2024 I am listening to this masterpiece. If anyone asking how it feels to fall in love, this song is the answer🥺🥺🥰🤍
Happy Happy Birthday Curtis Mayfield. You are so very missed. A terrific singer and gifted lyrists you were. Thank you for all the songs you left behind.
yup but its more of a love all, remembering who we are when we are kids and how as children love is all that is. The purity of who we are, the makings of you.
R.I.H Kirk Mayfield you sent me this song May 10th 2022 ....7 days later you passed away May 17th 2022. I will miss you my friend. Your dad was an extraordinary song writer. He raised very humble children. Your positivity was unmatched. I will miss your telling me your ideas and dreams and helping me with mine..
What an inspiration, I've written many poems from this song, thank you curtis for such a beautiful song thank you for giving me a positive foundation to live by... Such a beautiful song.
Have held Curtis in the highest esteem since he started recording music in the early '60's, and this song to me is just above and beyond. What amazing lyrics: you can just read them without any music, they're poetry of the highest order. And then you add his music. And then you add his -- or Gladys Knight's -- singing. Divine.
OMG!!!! It just dawned on me after all these years. This man was singing about Jesus. And no I'm not Christian. Listen to what he's saying. All biblical.
Please let's explore this and have this conversation. I'm very interested in talking about this. There is something very special about this song. Perhaps it's an annointing.
I’m proud of all the contributions our people has made to society….Curtis Mayfield is one of the great contributors….I’m not a separatist or racist. However the climate we’re living in is dividing us! Can you imagine a country without our amazing contributions!? Please let love lead and we all can make it together…!
