I always look forward to your quilt patterns and this one did not disappoint! I will admit when I saw curves I thought, "Nope! Not for me. Too complicated." I'm glad I kept watching because I think it's something I can do! Your style of teaching makes me feel like I CAN do it!

Oooh, this is something I'll need to consider. My guild is asking us to take a 'circle challenge' - and each make a small wall hanging featuring curves. I've *NEVER* tackled them before...this might be a good option!!

Oh my goodness, thank you, thank you. I have had a very large banner for our church on my sewing room floor for 2+ years. There are numerous curves and I could not figure out why they are not going together. There was no pattern (hence no directions) just a picture which someone had blown up for me. I never thought about the crust and pie connections needing to be different sizes. You are a dream....I can finally get this off my sewing room floor! ❤️ Bless you for your information!

Awesome quilt, love the bears. My very first quilt was a version of this block, but all the same size block. I actually hand pieced it, the funny part is I started it in my 20’s and finished it in my 60’s. In between that gap life took on a busy role. Still like the block today. Thanks for sharing your version. 👍❤️😊

Welcome back! I hope you and your family had a great summer. The math of this really challenges my math deficient brain. That ruler would be mandatory for me to do it. But I don't think this is in my immediate future because something that really stood out to me is the quilting and the large open spaces created by these blocks - I'm not a FMQ nor can I afford to send them out. Straight line quilting on this would be super daunting for me. I love the way yours turned out - really cute!

Make some pot holders for Christmas gifts for practice pieces. Two birds, one stone. I usually use one layer of cotton batting and one layer of heat blocking material for filling then a backing piece. Be sure to include instructions that they are NOT to be used in the microwave because the metal filaments will get hot enough to set the cotton fabric and batting on fire. Have fun!
@judithburke1539

You can either sew around the edges, backing and face fabrics right sides together with an opening for turning right side out and topstitch the edges or sew a binding around the raw edges.

Question - is it possible to use paper templates with a rotary cutter? Or do you have to use fabric scissors, like cutting out a garment pattern, because there's no ruler edge for the rotary cutter to glide along? thank you for FINALLY explaining curved piecing in a way that makes sense to my brain, I have been holding off on trying curves because I have already blown through my sewing supplies budget for the year and am holding off on buying any more rulers or acrylic templates!

Curves can be scary for many. Thanks for making this video to help reduce the fear. Question on the leftover pie and crust. Why not put then together to create a 7th block in the bundle? Or for another project?
@TinyOrchardQuilts
@TinyOrchardQuilts Год назад
You could certainly save them for another project but they don't fit together as there is a big gap between them. You could grab a scrap and cut the missing piece though :)
