Welcome back Gamers and Tech Lovers!
In this review we will be looking closer at the LoFree Touch ‘Pilot’ Triple Mode Mechanical Keyboard who ‪@Lofree‬ have kindly sent over for me to check out. While I have been gifted this keyboard my thoughts are my own as always in my reviews.
If you’re new to the Lofree brand they sell a wide range of keyboards from transparent build’s to their spectacularly vibrant Cyberpunk board. Offering a wide range of features combined with stunning aesthetics.
The Lofree Touch ‘Pilot’ is no different hosting some premium features while maintaining a sleek design. So let’s jump in..
Design
The first thing you will notice about this board is either it’s sleek side printed keycaps or the curved board shape, both draw a nice amount of attention to the keyboard itself.
Using 85% PBT side printed keycaps for comfort and durability is a nice choice and gives the Touch Pilot a seamless look while the 9° ‘golden angle’ curved design is aimed at giving a more ergonomic approach to typing. Helping the fingers to flow freely when in use and not crowding the keys together.
You’ll find a rotational switch along the back stand to the side that turns to switch between its three connection modes which we will cover later.
And there is either a USB-C port to connect via a supplied wired cable or you can use batteries in its stand compartment to allow for wireless use. Personally I prefer to use wired so I don’t have to worry about losing connection.
Lastly the colour scheme is a nice choice, using a blueish grey for the board and keycaps, a camouflage pattern on the space bar and adding an additional dash of colour with an orange escape key with its ‘pilot’ logo. The colour combination makes it stand out but also blend in at the same time.
Connectivity
The Lofree Touch Pilot has a triple mode connection which utilises wired, Bluetooth v5.0 and also 2.4G wireless. The rotational switch allows you to interchange between them easily.
I tested this going from wired and then in turn to both other options and I have to say the change was fluid and I had no issues swapping between connection modes.
Multisystem Layout
Lofree have definitely made a wise choice in making this compatible in layout with both Windows and Mac computers, you can change between the 2 layouts by simple pressing the Fn+N/M keys. I feel this is becoming more common place with mechanical keyboards but not many offer this at this moment in time.
Customisation
The board is fully customisable from the switches down to the Plate and PCB. Change it as much as you need to make it your own.
I haven’t modded the keyboard yet as I like how it is however I always like knowing that I can custom a board down the line if need be.
Switches
Typing on the Touch Pilot is quite smooth, the Gateron G Pro (yellow) are pre installed and have a good spring back when pressing the keys. I’ve included some extra details on the switches below.
Operating force : 50±15 gf
Pre-Travel : 2.0±0.6mm
Travel Distance : 4.0±0.4mm
Pre-Lubed : Yes
Behaviour : Linear
Use : Office/Gaming
The keyboard is Hot Swappable meaning you can change the switches without any need for soldering etc and is compatible with both 3pin and 5pin switches.
Lighting
Unfortunately the Touch Pilot doesn’t come with any backlighting or RGB lighting which I think is a big shame, it’s become standard for mechanical keyboards to offer some form of lighting that can be turned off if chosen. Especially at this price point I would’ve liked to see something included in the design.
However there are still a wide range of keyboard users that don’t use lighting so this is more likely to appeal more to that demographic.
In conclusion
The Lofree Touch Pilot is a distinctive keyboard through its bold design choices, offering upto 68 layout options is a massive pro especially for professionals.
While it may lack lighting that is a minor con in comparison to what it offers in both customisation and ergonomics for the user.
All in all the Touch Pilot is a good all round mechanical Keyboard which at a mid range price would fit in aesthetically with most setups today and feels great to use whether it’s gaming or in the office.
Thank you for reading! And thank you to ‪@Lofree‬ for giving me the opportunity to review this beautiful keyboard.
