Hello guys and welcome back to another tutorial. I will show you how to use the free community ocean project to create our own custom driveable boat that has buoyancy and also cloth physics for our sails. The boat model you can download and use for whatever you want. I made it myself a while back so feel free to use it for your game!

any chance for a tutorial to add wind that is driving the boat or at least affects the sails in certain direction? anyways your channel is very helpful +1

you can call the wind direction and strengh as variables and use that in a BP where if the wind strength variable is XX the boat would move at XX speed

Hmmm, I have a weird question....this simulates boats physics....how about submarines?! is there a way to control buoyancy?!! like with an axis for example?!

Good job, it looks good! The only thing I'm missing is some interaction between the boat and the water. In the real world, there would be some additional waves and foam caused by the boat. Is there any way to do it?

how do you use the ocean project with a blueprint based project since am blueprint is my main thing?

issamaf80 the ocean project is made with blueprint, the plugin is made in c++. You just have to compile the plugin and update like 3 lines of code for it to work with any ue4 version higher than 4.22. Otherwise you can just download the project and open it up with 4.22. Either way the ocean, the boats etc. everything is made with blueprint so no need to write any code

ugh this is just a tutorial about how to copy someone elses work and change the model to your own and use the parent to child blueprint ... this isnt a tutorial on drivable boat. i was hoping for a like base class to set up the boat to be drivable but all you did was copy from a parent and not really delving in ... no offense its really nice but the project im on is modding for CE and they do not support the ocean plugin so fat chance on this having to work
