Tips for cutting out Patches with a Hot Knife:
1- hold your knife at an angle and not straight up.
2 - use only the tip of the blade.
3 - is to cut at an even pressure and moves slowly.
4 - clean your hot knife, every couple inches with a paper towel.
5 - practice makes perfect when cutting out patches, so make sure you have some time to practice before making patches for your customers.
6 - Use the barrel of your hot knife to smooth out all the edges.
7 - as you can see here, our patch has a really wide border. This is going to help when cutting it out, and it's going to make the final product look better.

How did you change the J Hoop from the small round hoop to the square Allied hoop?

What is the heat seal? I have some of your patch material, but I’m not sure I have the heat seal. Great video.

Hi Judy! You can find our Heat Seal here - colmanandcompany.com/HeatSEAL-Roll.html. Basically what it does, is protect the thread on the back of your patch (sealing it) and gives you the ability to heat apply the patch onto a garment!

How difficult would it be to upgrade the control panel for the 1501C I purchased in 2017 to the 2020 model?

Hi Kathleen - I'm sorry, but that's just not possible. You COULD ask about a trade in, or try and sell that one yourself on something like quipdealio.com and purchase a new one!
