Skip, Did you use a pressing pillow, in addition to the flexible application pad, when applying the patch to the shirt?
@StahlsTV
@StahlsTV Год назад
You'll want to isolate the area when pressing to avoid anything that will interfere with the pressure, such as seams, buttons, etc. So you could use a pressing pillow or pad.

Is the soft foam similair to siser brick and can you layer that with more layers of the same material?
@StahlsTV
@StahlsTV Год назад
Soft foam is 560-600microns thick and can be layered on itself www.stahls.com/heat-transfer-vinyl-soft-foam

Why does Skip remove the transfer carrier of the UCM when adhering to the flock? Can the transfer carrier be left on, and then applied to the hat? I don't have scrap transfer material for the hat step and am worried that the tape will make marks on the UCM when applying to the hat.

Skip likes to create multiple patches before he applies to the hats. He rarely does one-offs. When applying to the hat, you can use a cover sheet to protect the patch and upper platen. If using heat transfer tape, you can tack it for a couple of seconds and then remove the tape, and heat apply for full amount. May take some testing to get it dialed in for you.

i don't have a vinyl cutter yet and am looking to purchase for this reason only right now. would a cricut type cutter work or should we be looking at something else?

Craft cutters can be used to cut most of our materials. These are the settings for our heat transfer vinyl for the most popular craft cutters on the market. www.stahls.com/heat-transfer-vinyl-craft-cutter-settings

if i use two layers of flock it doesn't want to adhere to the hat, as if the heat itsnt getting through to the back. Should I be using the lower platen when i add layers?
@StahlsTV
@StahlsTV Год назад
We recommend preheating the hat before applying anything to get the moisture and wrinkles out. Here are the application instructions for using our products on the Hotronix 360IQ assets.stahls.com/stahls/content/pdf/flyers/360IQ-ApplicationChart.pdf

I have a hat design that I should have thought out a little better. The top part has flock as a background, with dtf over top. The bottom part (small lettering) is dtf, with no flock background. There’s a reason it doesn’t have background. The effect of the top part having dimension and the bottom not, it’s what I was going for. But now I’m worried about what to press first. Since after the flock is pressed on the top, if I then go to press the dtf over the top and then on the bottom, the bottom won’t be as raised as the top. Does that make sense? Not sure if it’ll get enough pressure on the bottom. Only solution I can think of is to press the dtf on the bottom first. But then I’d be reheating it to apply the flock. If you seen the design you’d probably understand it easier lol
