Super build!! A plethora of great ideas. For the leg under the work surface extension, maybe a round magnet that will attract the tip of the rod (if it's steel), and additional magnets along the length that attract/grab/hold the rod when you place it underneath? No hardware, no fiddling. The best build I've seen, especially in maximizing every square inch of volume. Well done.

Very thorough run-down on this project - well done. I was really surprised with the weight reduction compared to your previous set-up. Thanks for going to the trouble to cover this in detail so anyone inspired to build their own have a comprehensive guide to help them. Cheers Lee

My son turned up at home about 12 months ago with almost the exact same set up. Now I know where he got the idea lol. I have a new D-max turning up soon and will put an Aluminium Canopy on the tray as soon as I have the cash. Will install similar in there I recon. Oh and I bet Drifta love ya for putting these last couple of Video's out. Love your work mate.

Awesome build mate! Educational, inspirational and entertaining, what a combo. Can't ask for more than that.😊 Yet another suggestion for the slide out table, turn it into a thin drawer and have the table as a drop in from the top (with finger holes to lift it out). The top could be supported by dividers in the drawer, it wouldn't need to be very thick. Use this drawer to store the support leg, air compressor hose and fitting or any other low profile items. Just a thought, but I reckon you'd be stocked just the way it is (I would be).

For drawer runners you can also use smooth laminex strips face to face or the yellow ppe strips used to join chipboard flooring with silicone spray works really well and way cheaper. Cheers.......Pete Ps.....i have drifter drawers that were already in my navarra when i bought it and after seeing your build im now going to rebuild it in the same fashion as yours..A 90ltr fridge freezer on top of the drawer system is not ideal and takes up a lot of useable space and like you said, the drop down slides are very heavy. Great vid and very informative.

Hey mate great content. I build a very similar set up about six months ago but used the strip out of yellow tongue board. Very cheap and I sprayed with silicon spray. It works great and a much cheaper option. Also you have some wasted space under your table. I have put a aluminium tray in the space and have a moveable aluminium table top that’s removable.

If you are going to fit tie down rails to the top, can’t you fix the Travel Buddy onto a base that you can easily tie down to these rails, so it can quickly be removed; you just need to place the Anderson plug somewhere easy to access.

Yeah I’ve considered that and still may do it. Because I don’t have a stopper for the drawer coming all the way out. The ply on ply friction as it gets further out stops it from coming all the way out when on a downward lean. So I’m 50/50 on if I wanna do it or not.

Yeah I’ve seen them but I don’t think that would work with my setup

Good work. You could get a Kaon roof shelf (not cheap) and hang the travel Buddy from under it. There are brackets on eBay for them. No carpet fires 🔥

Yeah I’ve seen them but I’m not sure I’ll have any room left above the drawers if I put one of their shelves in.

Great video exactly what I think I will be doing on v2 of my draw setup didn’t want a drop slide. Curious but do you have measurements on how deep you went on the fridge slide and table under it?

Just wanted to let you know that I have done a smaller setup as you I drilled a hole in table so the top of the extendapoll came out of the top so I can use it for a plastic bag for a bin and so my cooker dose not fall off the end when oil gets on the top it ..

Awesome setup I’m currently planning to do something similar, so is the main framework and fridge slide out of 15mm ply ? And how are the draws holding up with weight in them being 12mm thick ply. Thanks

Again, what an excellent video. Well presented, fast pace, full of lots of info. Will be picking up our Ineos Grenadier in August so will have most of the gear made prior. Only question - what silicon did you use to stick the Teflon down with?
@Australian4x4Adventures

Roofing silicon.

Very nice how that worked out for you with the top drawer being clear of the top of the tailgate that's what we call them here in the states anyway I don't know what you guys call them but where it clears the top of the tailgate and you can still access your top drawer I would probably go one step farther though and add a a maybe one foot by one foot square trap door in the bottom of that drawer just in case you need to get to something important in the bottom drawer you wouldn't have to take but just a couple things out of the top drawer open your trap and you can reach right into the bottom drawer if there's necessities you know that you need from in there just a thought you never know..
@Australian4x4Adventures
@Australian4x4Adventures 3 года назад
Haha. Yeah I got lucky with that one. I’m probably going to make an internal shelve so I can have two layers of things in the one drawer as they are fairly deep.

Great video mate. I always made my own drawers because I could never afford the shop ones. Works out great anyway because you can make them exactly how you need them. I don’t know how I wasn’t already subscribed but I’ve fixed that now by SMASHING that red button.

Legend. Thanks for joining the family 😂. Yeah I’ve always made my own with exception of my last setup because I didn’t know how I wanted to set it all up.

New idea is to put the travel buddy on the left hand side and have it screwed to a slide out plate that is held down either side with French cleats. Then cut out a roughly 400x400 hole above the fridge so you can open the front half of fridge without having to open everything up. Great for grabbing a quick traveller

Suggest mounting the travel buddy on a right so tucks near the window. Little shelf (wing) the same height as the top.
@Australian4x4Adventures
@Australian4x4Adventures 3 года назад
Ahh yeah. So it would sit almost above where the inverter is?

@@Australian4x4Adventures yup spot on, little pain getting to it but can from rear or rear RH Door.
