I loved your reaction on the first shot. I feel that way every time. I shoot a 300 magnum RPR, not an expensive rifle but it works for where I live and hunt.
Awesome. Love that caliber! My 300, once she’s shot out will be a 7mm 300. Thank you for the content and am waiting on the load development. Just awesome! Thank you.
Beautiful rifle! I have several custom rifles and the two most recent ones I tried a new break in method. The no break in method. My gunsmith (Stan Jackson, has built more than 100 National match winning rifles here in the USA), recommended trying just shooting normally. He suggested a 25 round session, followed by a light cleaning, and a second 25 round session followed by a light cleaning. Then just shoot and clean as I normally would after each range session. I tried it and I’ll be damned if the 2 new rifles are some of my best shooters. They both shoot well under .5 moa if I do my part. Might be worth considering. You have probably heard of Eric Cortina, he also recommends a ‘no break-in’, approach. Just thought I would suggest it, very nice rifle!
Thats one very nice long range rifle build that will hit medium size game like the hammer of Thor at long range. Makes for an excellent rifle/cartridge platform for shooting across valleys and mountains to anchor game .
Awesome! I'm working on rebarreling my Rem 700 short action (probably going with .223 1:7). I have not decided exactly on what barrel I'm going to use but I HAVE decided I will upgrade to an MDT chassis as a nod to this channel and a thanks to MDT for supporting your work. I really enjoy your channel.
Such an awesome round. Very similar to 7mm STW but so very much easier to source brass for. Perhaps I missed an earlier video but could you share thoughts on why you went with this cartridge specifically? Cheers!
Your bipod is almost fell of the Arca rail while you were shooting. Guess it can have negative impact on your accuracy when shooting groups... Cool rifle though, looks and shoots great!
Nice! I have been shooting a 7mm rem with 180gr eld match a few years, got 930ms with it 71,5gr vv170. Super nice bullet this rifle Will be fun to follow.! You should try it in hard wind, then you will se what a fast 7mm/284 is all about! High-five man.
I like that 7-300. You should stretch that out to 2500 yards I just got Doe with my 300 RUM build. I have the vortex razor 5-20 ad it’s in the matching Cadex stealth shadow chassis with a big bull 32” barrel and I’m getting the 245 grain Berger’s right at 3100 fps
Can you explain this cartridge a bit? Is it basically a 300 WM, necked down to 7mm? As always, great content on your channel. My dream ELR rifle is a 28" 1:8 twist 300WM sitting in an ACC chassis. One day.... Thanks
Depends on the barrel maker. With Savage I’ve noticed with my last few purchases the difference between a break in and a no break in. However regardless I put 20-40rounds through most rifles to get a good copper fouling.
Rick O'Shea no I mean break in. Shooting and cleaning will finish our rough spots albeit slower. If it’s really rough you can fire lap too but that’s a last ditch effort before you screw on a new tube in my opinion
Rick O'Shea I’ve had rifles that wouldn’t shoot until you had a roll of pennies worth of copper in the barrel and others that basically didn’t foul and just shot no matter what. People get all bent out of shape over a lot of copper or maybe the barrel isn’t fully floated all the while they are shooting good groups 😂.
Hard to understand difference between 7* 300 and 300PRC and 300 win mag. Numbers are VERY close together on every ballistics chart ive seen. So are you just using 7*300 cause you can or do you know an advantage I'm not seeing ?
Just out of curiosity, what does this round do that the Weatherby 7mm mag does not? I understand the differences in shoulder geometry, but don’t know enough about the cartridge to see the benefit. Love your channel Piet! Keep up the good work.👍🏻
Bear Long range That makes more sense when I stop and think about it. Weatherby was known to use the long freebore to keep pressure inside the fissile range. LOL It’s kind of funny now that My pelt is getting thin and gray how cyclical everything is in the shooting world. Fortunately we keep getting technology bumps every time we go around. It’s bullet design and rifling rate this time. Hopefully it’ll be throat life on the next pass. Thanks for the reply and jogging my noggin.
@@IMPACTSHOOTING I understand buddy . The rifle looks amazing ! What bigger game are you going to hunt with that bad boy ? You have a first class channel ! You have a great attitude , and it comes out in your videos . You seem to never have a bad day . I know you do , but you don't bitch or complain , and that's very professional . Keep up the great work , take care , be safe . If you were closer I would send you some of my bad ass pure honey , but South Africa is a far piece from Sarasota, Florida , ha ha ha .
Love the channel. Just got my Raptor in the mail today here in the US, can't wait to get to the range. Question, where did you get the Run MDT tee shirt?
This rifle is awesome. I love the look and that round. Quick question while I'm here I have 6.5 Creed with 120 rounds through it and I can't get round on target at 300 yards with 129 grain but good data for 200
I'm new to long range shooting if someone can help? What is the grit on the front objective lens? I assume for anti-glare? Or another use? Thanks in advance.
i know this is asking a question that could take a long time to answer and everyone has their own views but: If I can go for one rifle for prs shooting and shooting maybe up to 1000m should I look for a 6.5 creedmore or a 7mm?
