Stealth strips are a great idea! I'm gonna do that to mine as well. I have been using my fixed buckle version mostly and think I will be using that one for hunting.

@@SamkoTradBow The only noise that I was getting from the fixed buckles was taking it out of my pack and putting it on in the woods. I installed the stelth strip between the plates on all 3 buckles.

nothing wrong with it not being for you. But the reason I use it is because I can do all the things you said I could not and more. For me its the best harness ever made. Thats why I reached out the a saddle make to build it to my specs. I hang over 100 stands a season and have for the last 30 years. so i know what I want in a harness. But nothing wrong with you not liking it or wanting to use it.

You are correct. Slack is bad. And when im actually hunting I move the rope higher up the tree so that when I'm sitting it's basically taunt. But this was just demonstration of the harness. In my other videos you will see it tied in right

The bride on many harnesses are not rated for or tested in a slack line fall from a tree stand. The connection point on this harness is able to handle a slack line fall.

I'm not a saddle hunter so I do t need all the extra webbing and comfort sitting. I also don't trust a bridge for a shock loaded fall. A saddle is designed for constant tension on the bridge type hunting. This harness is designed to handle shock or slack loaded and distribute the weight into your legs while keeping you upright as well. A ture tree stand safety harness

My work harness has a actual mechanism for if u fall it springs out to avoid shock with this your connected by a what 8mm rope. have u hung from this one to see wht that will be like simulating a fall ?

I'm not being a asshead here either I'm really asking questions cause I'm changing some things this year and do alot of research before I purchase a product

I do not have a weight to weight it being so light and the weight will vary based on waist size and amount of material but honestly weight wise it weighs about as much as a cell phone. It's insane light!

John designed it to have enough adjustment to fit over normal or heavy winter clothing

No worries I'm very red/green color blind as well. Makes it tough to blood trail..lol. the green one was the fixed version and the grey was the quick disconnect buckles. He offers many different colors too.

Cobra buckles are like a seat belt buckle but release with 2 side tabs. They come in different sizes. John has been testing a new buckle system designed for military that's super light and strong. So I dont think he uses cobra buckles any more

Nothing about it is a saddle. And it does not have a bridge lile a saddle must have to be usable. This is a rock climbing style tree stand harness designed for tree stand hunters

You're right it's not a saddle but it sure looks like one you use it like one hooks up in the front like one only difference is you tie that rope around that tree if you had a carabiner on that and hooked it to a tree tether it's a saddle

@@dennybirchfield complete different. With a saddle you want a longer bridge that will slid through a carabiner and the bridge is connected to the hips. This is designed to pull from the legs and at the navel to protect in a fall. This would not be comfortable to hunt from like a saddle.

No such thing as ignorance when asking a question you don't know. I'm glad ypu asked and ask anything anytime. This doesn't have shoulder straps because it's based off of a rock climbing harness and connects in the front. The design is to transfer the Wright of a fall into the legs like a rock harness and keep yoy up right like a rock harness. Is it sager than a full body harness, no. Is it as safe probably. It's different. 95% of tree stnad falls occur getting into or put of the stand. A rock harness connects in the front and we are facing the tree when most falls occur. So many of us think it's better with a rock harness in that fall as we not going to be spun around. A rock harness is not for everyone. But they have been used by climbers for over a century and the design basically unchanged and by arborist and tree trimmers etc. So many of us feel that style is safe for tree stand hunting too. The advantage are no should straps in the way and more freedom of movement with our upper bodies on stand and no strap from our shoulder blades to the tree to get in the way. But again not everyone's cup of tee and there are lots of great full body harnesses out there. Hope that answers your question and if you have any more ask anytime.

@@shooter2843 you will also want a rope to tie from the harness to the tree. I use a 8.5mm dynamic climbing rope. The dynamic mean it has so stretch to help with the fall shock. It won't help alot as the rope and fall would be short but it helps. Any quality 8mm - 10mm dynamic climbing rope would be great. If you ate buying it by the foot I'd get about 15 feet. This way you have some extra to tie into the harness and around the tree etc.
