when i watch wood working videos like this i wish my job was as carm and relaxing as this. if i behaved like this at my joinery job id get sacked withing a week. at my work place its "how long before you finish" ....... "are you nearly done!" ....... "we need to start the next job" youtube wood working projects allways seem so zen, like
This is for experts only, hehe im (a beginner) lost in the process and cant appreciate the step by step lol. i'll get better and understand it better someday
Thanks for commenting. I don't use any screws or metal fastener on the gates. As far as sealers go, the only sealer that was on this gate was a green wood sealer, which is applied only to the exposed end grain. Other than that, the gate is left to weather naturally
I love the work but the repetitive clicktrack music loops on his vids are like a Chinese water torture sometimes. They would be better without it. Otherwise, awesome job, Ben!
Hi Scott, sorry for the far too late of response on my part. Hope the gate build went well for you. No Diagonal bracing with this gate, or on any of our designs for that matter. Nothing wrong with them, but just not a design element that we follow. Diagonal braces, to me, are purely an aesthetic option. Not a necessity for a gates longevity. If a gate is build correctly, it will last a lifetime, with or without a diagonal brace.
I'm testing this theory myself now Ben, starting my own gate building business... We'll see if I did it right in a few months it a few years. No news will be good news, knock on wood in doing it right! I wish I had someone like you to learn from instead of watching so much RU-vid and reinventing the wheel figuring this stuff out lol Thank you for this video
Who cares about the gate .... look at those doors he has hanging around his shop good greif ... im further behind then i even realized too few subs for that kinda ability
