One reason they mix it is because they are understaffed and do not have enough people to run a two person route whis is what that area requires. Another reason is when companies do roll outs of new carts and bins, they stop the separation for a little while so customers can get used to their new bins and not separating their recyclables such as bottles and cans going in a separate crate and and glass in another. Some times residents will also use their carts for the wrong items because they are unfamiliar with the new way of doing things.
Excellent report. Wonder how many other cities are also not recycling. It's 2022, we're still not able to recycle? Strange our taxes aren't going towards this public service.
Meh- recycling is such a stupid scam. Unless you’re actually taking the time to go down and get money for your bottles, cans, copper- whatevs, there’s simply no point. We stopped bothering a LONG time ago. It REALLY pisses me off when you get fined for not putting the trash in the right bins.
Well, The whole reason it goes into the same truck and the same place is because it is contaminated with non- recyclable material because people believe what you do and this prevents the company from wanting to waste their time, money and effort just to effectively be running a second trash route. So if we all start recycling properly, they will start not mixing it again.
