2:13 "Customer refused to tell the mechanics how this happened." I think though, that both the mechanics and we can safely assume that 'being stupid' played a major role.
I had a 2001 Ford ZX2 that had a 36,000 mile warranty on the transmission, it blew at 36,450. I raised hell will the dealer and Ford replaced it no charge as a "customer satisfaction" repair.
2:55 That is actually pretty "normal" That is 50% due to bad casting, only the important surfaces get machined nice and flat. Other 50% could be due to this part beeing a repaired/remanufactured part. Companys often sandblast old rusted parts, replace seals, pistons etc and paint them silver and sell them back to you.
@@afterhoursfab I have seen worse than that, and once threw away a caliper with real craters one or two milimeters deep... that's when things become dangerous. as long as the surface is fairly smooth, and not too much material missing, it's still good to go, albeit looking ugly.
2:28 Intermittent electric problems are pretty common. Belts, though, are usually either functioning continuously or not functional at all. Intermittent belt drive is uncommon.
@@dave161141 Sounds like the air conditioning in my 1965 Corvair. Caused overheating in the air cooled engine in summer. Worked well when not needed. Like winter, for Instance.
At 3:09, if the caliper is a forged steel part, as opposed to a cast steel part, it might have been left in the furnace too long and been partially de-carbonized. This is bad for springs, but may not be bad for calipers.
bet that power steering not working was a Hyundai lol. i know my sister had one and i swear we replacing the power steering belt yearly to keep the steering working without slippage. tightening it never seemed to help. used to change it in the fall since the winter was when it slipped the most if it was going to.
3:01 remanufactured parts just means they just take the original shell of the part and replace the internals so I'm assuming that caliper was like a salvage part that still did its job
The caliper that was not smooth is because the sand mold was to wet when they poured the metal and that's a common problem with parts made in china and India.
Because it is a Fing kia. I have a soul and that stupid power steering does that stuff too. Really annoying when it is cold and it starts squealing and makes it hard to turn the wheel. I really hate that car.
