The video you shared is very valuable. I would like to ask a question, how do you talk in front of the camera? To be honest, I am a novice at shooting video. The number of clicks and views of the video I made is not too high, which makes me very frustrated. I tried to walk into the camera but failed. I'm always at a loss when facing the camera, because I get stuck when I'm too nervous. These questions have troubled me for a long time, so I want to ask how did you prepare before shooting?

Thank you for the information! My year's goal will be to produce comb honey. I am doing a lot of research before deciding upon a frame style. I noticed you are using hogg half comb labels but not their containers. I am considering using their "hogg half comb super" do you see any advantatage or disadvantages to having the bees make the comb directly in the containers like in that system? Ross rounds have a similar concept, but I have not tried either system yet. I'm just curious because it seems like it could cut out a lot of the processing work. Thank you!

I found that the labels were perfect for sealing the containers and really make it look nice. I like the frames with thin foundation works best just because the bees are very willing to draw it out. They sometimes do not like the other containers. Good luck. As long as it is a strong hive during a nectar flow you should do great!

Awesome, can you please do a video on how you prepare the frame with the comb foundation.

Yes, in the frames before cutting.

What size frames do you use for the cut comb? The mike palmer video says not to use mediums bc of wastage, and to use thin top frames, but he doesnt say if those are shallow or the cut comb specialty frames. On mannlake they advertise 33% thicker bottom bars for stability, but I dont want to get frames that wont have big enough combs to fit the standard 4-1/8” square box and cutter.
@woodchucktinman9893
@woodchucktinman9893 3 года назад
I find the standard medium frames give the best chance to get 4 perfect squares per frame. There will not be enough waste to worry about unless you are a commercial beekeeper with hundreds of hives you might get a few extra. Other than that I dont see any major differences in type of frame. The bees will fill in the space no matter how wide or narrow the bottom bar. Hope that helps.

very helpful....im trying mediums and cut comb honey next year. Do you run two deeps then a medium for cut comb honey?
@woodchucktinman9893
@woodchucktinman9893 4 года назад
Yes, 2 deeps as brood boxes, then a regular medium for honey until the nectar flow gets going. Then I invade their space and put the box for cut comb right in between the honey box and brood boxes. That way they want to fill it out fast and it helps keep them from travel staining it.
@natserog

@@woodchucktinman9893 thanks Charles....so no queen excluder at all in any application? what keeps them from filling up mediums with brood when you invade their space? i need to try this :)

ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nIjiInZRxrQ.html This is the best video you could watch. Mike is beyond expert. I dont use any excluder. A hive best suited for comb production will be very strong and just into a good strong nectar flow. They will completely build comb, fill and cap a medium box in 1 or 2 weeks. Hope this helps!

thanks! im all single brood chamber. I need to use deeps instead of mediums, you ever use deeps?
@woodchucktinman9893
@woodchucktinman9893 4 года назад
I sometimes use deeps. Just bee careful as the larger sections are more fragile because the cut comb frames have no foundation or support wires. If you dont tilt them on the side you should be fine.

If you freeze comb honey to kill any parasites what do you do to syrup honey to kill any parasites?
@woodchucktinman9893
@woodchucktinman9893 2 года назад
It would be more for wax moths or small hive beetles. They would not be in the syrup honey.
