Hello Shiny Crafty People and welcome back!
Tim Totten here and today I wanna show you how to make these super cute Easter Bunny treat bags with just a few simple materials. Seriously, you can make these in less than 30 minutes each and with just $2-3 in materials.
What you need:
2 Fat Quarters (makes two bags): $1.35 each at Walmart
2 Elastic Hair Ties: $1.25 for 36 at Dollar Tree
2 Soft Pompoms: $1.25 for 24 at Dollar Tree
Scissors
Thread
Sewing Machine
Rotary Cutter optional
Buttons (optional for noses)
I made this cute treat bag in 30 minutes with all the explanations, but was able to replicate this in just 15 minutes when I was done shooting video.
I hope you make this super fun project and the kids (young and old) in your life appreciate these cute treat bags.
Until next time, stay hippity-hoppity (and crafty!)

Absolutely adorable… I wasn’t going to do something this Easter, but this is too fun! My granddaughters are going to love the Easter bunny bags!

Have fun! If you need bigger bags try going 1.5x on each measurement. So 13" x 33" or so. But I personally think the cuteness is in the small size.

Been making those for a few weeks now. I actually put faces on mine. Google eyes, pink heart shaped nose and 1 inch of black yarn that I split into 2 only half way so that I can make the mouth area right under the nose. To me, it looks much better than just a button to denote a face

It was good seeing you again Tim. My sewing room has been closed since you and Marcy stopped posting. I need inspiration from both of you. I really don't know how to sew and I learn from you both. Thank you for introducing us to Marcy from the Handmade Harriell's. ~M

I love the idea to close it with hairbands. I made such bags last year and closed it with ribbons, but this is easier and it's an additional "gimmick" for little girls. Edit... They also look amazing in a patchwork style, so you can get rid of some scrap fabric.

I love, love, love these treat bags. So cute and so easy to sew. I made four using a template I made. One observation though - I bought two packs of fat quarters from Walmart which were not 18x22 inches but 18x21 inches. I also ran into the same issue with a few of the fat quarters I bought from Joannes. I could have made them with the 21 inch fat quarters but my template was 22 inches long.

Hi Debra, I ran into the same issue. I cut my template in half to 9X11, to be cut on the fold. Now, I can just scoot my template down below the fold to fit the size of fabric if it just a tad shy. Hope this helps. I love the pattern and am making several for the kiddos in my family

@debracotter2143 Год назад
@@belize214 Thanks for the reply. I thought about doing that but I ended up buying yardage only because I wanted the bags to be bigger rather than smaller.

Top of the zip ideas. turn the zip tape over the top before stitching, and snip off protruding end thus nothing to rub or irritate. Or. Again turn over the top and tucked into the cut neck band. Then stich in the zip.

I just noticed a lot of my fabric is 21" long. What would the width be? Or dies it really matter. thank you so much. These are so cute 🐰

Try starting your seam a little farther in from the end of the fabric and then back stitch and then go forward and I don't think you'll have so much trouble with your material being pulled down into the throat of the sewing machine also it might help if you weren't starting out at a rabbit's pace might start out at a turtle pace

Those are too cute. Have you thought of using a light weight interfacing (iron on of course) to give it a little more body?
@timothytotten9409
@timothytotten9409 Год назад
You certainly could but I wouldn’t do it unless I was making a much bigger bunny. The small ones don’t need it. But it would help for bigger ears!
@krislee72
@krislee72 Год назад
one quick note, I was also having a bit of trouble with the thread and those small points, so I sewed from the bottom up instead and it worked perfectly.

On the larger bunny basket 10 x 44 did you size the ears half of the 44 so 22 down, they looked long, I just need a bigger bag ! Thank you and happy Easter

Use leaders before sewing actual product, prevent the thread pulling at start.

Just made 4 of these last night. Mine are a bit different size and one is small because I didn't have quite enough of one fabric, so I made it smaller for one of the babies in our family. Just curious if you really threw away the remnant fabric or are you going to use it for another project like I do?

That’s great! Yes, i save scraps all the time. My grandmothers taught me to see and there were no pieces too small for them to save and use later.
