I watch many sewing videos and one I watch always makes sure to have projects in different stages. One that needs drafting, one that needs cutting, some that needs draping, or hand stitching etc. So depending on if you can handle something fiddly or some big long cuts or brain work etc, you never stop working when you hit a wall with a project.

Well, you hit the mark twice for me here! I was 7 when My Mother the Car premiered - and I loved it! I was a big Jerry van Dyke fan even back then. And then you followed it up with the car of my youth- the Nash Metropolitan! We actually moved from Montreal to Toronto - Mom (6 months pregnant), Dad, three kids under 6 and Daisy Beagle- in 1961. We had the salmon coloured one. And my father was 6'3", so it was a tight squeeze! Thanks for the memory jog!

When I was a child in the 1960's there was a tall skinny man who used to drive a little bitty pink and white Nash just like your new blue Nash. The man stopped at a house near the bus stop to pick up a bigger lady and we kids got such a kick out of watching them fold themselves into the little car and drive away. Made for a fun school year. I have only seen this particular car model a couple of times over the years and never knew what it was until today. Thanks for sharing!!!

Love the 54 Nash Metropolitan!!! Great color and fantastic condition. Growing up we only had 1 car that Dad drove to work ('56 Buick). Mom wanted a good used car so Dad bought her a 1954 Nash Ambassador. It was such a neat car and our first car to have reclining seats and AC (that wasn't working good, but in NY you don't need it). Good luck with your fantastic Nash!!!

Thanks for the memory. My Mother had a Nash Metropolitan, not sure of the year. My Father was a car painter so the car was two tone green, light green top and darker green bottom. Both of them loved driving 'Speedy'. At the time my Father had a 1959 black Chevrolet (first one with the wings, don't remeber the model). I got my license in 1962 and drove both cars, but my fav was 'Speedy'. Dad was a bit like you and we had lots of cars around all the time, mostly from the 30's, 40's and 50's.

A bit of Trivia..... The Met and British MGA engines are identical except for the Tack mount hole in the block. As a kid, we had one that we ran around a vacant lot. It had a gallon can mounted on the firewall for gas w/gravity feed. The Fun of growing up in the 50s!

That’s interesting about why you guys call it a “trunk” at the back of a car, it makes sense! But now I can’t help wondering if here in the uk, they used to actually have a boot strapped to the back end hahaha. (Hood and Bonnet are not so different, both being types of hats for the engine but I always wondered about trunk and boot)
@catherinesommer3648
@catherinesommer3648 2 года назад
The word "boot"(which is commonly used by the English), goes back to 18th century horse-drawn carriages where the coachman sat on a chest, which was used to store, among other things, his boots. This storage space came to be termed as the "boot locker", which soon became the "boot".

Oh, I love them!! They are so adorable 😄❤️ We also have a car meet here in my town this weekend. It used to be the biggest meet in Europe, but they splitted the meet to two ones. The other is more down south in Sweden. It's the best time of the summer 😊 I just love classic cars, especially the American ones. We call them jänkare (yankees) here in Sweden. My last classic car was a Rambler American 220 1967 with a 196 straight six cylinders motor. I know you know, but for them who don't- Nash became AMC Rambler (Hudson as well). So the little Metropolitan is an "ancestor" to the car I had 😄
