David, one of the best dudes in Disney. He was there for Nani and Lilo, even when he wasn't getting a date. He literally delt with aliens because he cares for them. He always supported Nani as well. He was even nice to stitch, when he said everything was fine until stitch showed up, it was partially true. He didn't mean it in a hateful way, he just saw the hell Nani and Lilo were going through and how much of the issues were literally stitches fault.

david is smooth...he literally says you can date me to call it even after he finds her a possible job when she was denying him due to time spent taking care of lilo earlier..hes no incel white knight simp..thats for sure...he knew what he was doing..shoot your shot playa...he was not just being nice for the sake of it...he had a plan and he executed it to swoop in and save the day

@@nickreacts6394 theres a lot of implied not stated stuff in this film like for example nani's room has a bunch of surfboard trophies and pictures meaning she wanted to be a famous boarder one day as we see when she shows off her skills later on in the film but because of the tragedy she had to put her dreams on hold to raise lilo at a young age and provide for her aka not take risks that could fail and end in losing lilo cause she can not financially support her which explains their anger/fighting/tension a bit better or how lilo takes pictures of the tourists like the ice cream sunburned big guy with no shirt and glasses because they do the same to the locals as if they are animals in a zoo so to get one back at them for treating locals like aliens she takes their pictures the same way and hangs them to display them like they are some foreign commodity as payback as a commentary on what we do when we visit places like hawaii and pretend like its such a new world so much so it worth taking photos of likee you stepped into another country which for the locals is every day life..then theres the whole pug controls the weather moment which implies lilo feels like the bad unexpected stormy weather that killed her parents that car accident one day was caused by not feeding pug so she feeds him so that never happens to anyone else again..its so sad..so much of this film is understated like that...you get hints but its not told fully to you..you have to look for the meaning....

@@nickreacts6394 nani has a real figure and you see her groin area sometimes through her jean shorts for example when she sits down drawn in full detail and even how she will lay her legs out when she sits is so real for once..props to disney for not going all skinny and simple with her design/animation....nani feels like a real woman not glorified barbie doll which some disney females can feel like aka the princesses...you can feel her stress in her design alone sometimes...

Apparently, she finds it important to feed pudge because of what happened to her parents. It was raining when they died and it just so happened to be the same day that Lilo didn’t feed him. So she feels that if she keeps up with it, it won’t happen again. I had always assumed that it was apart of her quirky behavior but it has a deeper meaning than that.

The song that Nani sings to Lilo when they have to part ways is the song that the last princess of Hawaii sung before she had to give up her land to foreign invaders (the U.S.) Im not sure if this was before or after the Dole Plantations. Either way, it matches the themes of the movie very well. It’s a very deep movie in regards to its historical and cultural themes

My favourite Disney movie. I could talk about the adults themes for hours. Lilo is a young kid who's going through grief and a hard home life. She acts out because she doesn't know how to cope, she's just a kid. Nani is still a teenager and works so hard to take care of her sister. The watercolour backgrounds and soft round character designs mesh beautifully together. The animation is smooth, fun and colourful. It's such a comfort movie for me.

There's actually a reason why only watercolor backgrounds were used for this movie. At that time the studios had financial problems, and therefore the backgrounds were painted manually. But is still came out for the better, as we can see today

One of my favourite Disney films. The watercolour backgrounds are gorgeous and Lilo was definitely a comfort character. Lilo is EXTREMELY autistic coded and thats why she's bullied by the other students. She has special interests (photography, elvis etc.) and has meltdowns when being overstimulated (the scene where she screams and lays face down on the floor). She doesnt fully understand that lying to Cobra would get her taken away. The reason Lilo is worried about her offerings to Pudge is because she believes the fish is a deity that controls the weather and that offerings will stop Nani from being taken away like her parents. This is honestly one of my favourite Disney films, but I wish they had kept in the original scene that showed how tourism effects Hawaii

Ah ok, thanks for pointing that out I actually didn’t pick up on that, I thought Lilo was a unique little girl torn up and a little angry due to the heavy sadness of losing her parents. But that does make sense, and either way I really really love her character, and this is a top tier Disney film. What was the scene that got cut? Is there a place to see it?

I don't know if she is autistic coded. She's 6 and recently lost her parents. Meltdowns, struggling to understand adult issues like custody, and social issues in her peer group are all developmentally appropriate for very young children who have experienced trauma and loss. If bullying was a symptom of autism, it wouldn't be so hard to get a kid evaluated.

@@Br0nto5aurus dude im autistic. its so hard to get diagnosed because medicine is biased and only sees autism as the sheldon cooper white boy stereotype. also its 2024 and we still barely have any canon autistic representation where it's stated explicitly so of course disney wasn't going to mention it when this was made. its also not a bad thing for her to be autistic coded. everything you've stated as being a symptom of "trauma" guess what, being autistic and growing up around allistics is traumatising.

Great reaction! I love Nani so much. Even though everything in her life is going wrong, she still tries her best each day to keep her family together. Not sure if you noticed or not, but in the scene where Lilo and Stitch wake up Nani and use Stitch as a record player, you can see surfing trophies on the shelves behind Nani’s bed. She was an incredible surfer and could’ve had a career as a pro surfer in tournaments, but when their parents died, she had to give up her dreams to provide for her little sister.

Also cute and fluffy! My fav often-overlooked part is when Bubbles mentions that he helped convince aliens the mosquitoes were an endangered species, which is why they hunted down stitch instead of blowing him up.

This is one of my favorite Disney movies and I feel it's often overlooked for some reason. It's so hard to pick a favorite scene as there are so many. I love Nani because she just seems so real. More so than most characters in a disney cartoon.

I LOVE this movie. The art is beautiful, the story is beautiful, all of it is great! I like that it's about family but not the typical family. My favorite part is probably when Nani is singing to Lilo. It makes me cry every time.

Just letting you know that Lilo's voice actor was also the voice actor for Chihiro in Spirited Away! =) Lilo feels Pudge controls the weather, because the night she didn't feed him a sandwich was the night her parents died. She makes sure he's fed so that doesn't happen again.

Did you notice all the trophies and medals in Nani's room? She was a champion surfer but had to give it up when her parents died to be there for Lilo. She's such a great big sister ❤

There were actually deleted scenes which would have lead to the film being to violent and too dark at times, look them up on RU-vid and see which you prefer. One of them includes Stitch murdering Pudge the fish, an extended Jumba vs Stitch fight, and a scene where instead of having a spaceship to save Lilo, Stitch hijacked an air shuttle at the airport (which was removed because it gave off to many 9/11 vibes).

The hijacked jumbo jet scene is possibly the biggest loss of the whole thing. Forget how unrealistic or violent it is, the sheer audacity of using a curved building to sideways-ramp an airliner is incredible and makes for a far better scene than the canyon chase.

A lot of autistic people (me included) identify with Lilo. She doesn't really know how to communicate well with people her own age, she has some very special interests and collections, she has meltdowns, but is kinda mature for her age... This movie has always been one of my favorite and Lilo has always been really special to me.

Cannot watch it without a big smile on your face. Great soundtrack, too. Can't beat it. Was playing it in a parking lot, waiting in the car for someone, and a lady walked by and KNEW what the music was. Had to tell me how much she like this 'kids movie.' I was a 60 year old man enjoying it. Crazy.

It's hard to pick a favorite moment but I really love the last scene when they're taking stitch and he says they're both his family, that's just so sweet. 8:55 Ah this is the edited version. It used to be Lilo coming out the washing machine but they later changed it to look like she hid behind a pizza box. Probably because they don't want lil kids getting locked inside washing machines.. this movie was also heavily edited before release because 9/11 happened and it had some scenes of an airplane hitting buildings so they changed it to the big spaceship in mountains. You can search for Lilo and Stitch 911 changes on RU-vid if you wanna see the original version.

this is one of my favorite disney movies. i love lilo with my whole heart. and i love how stitch really wants to belong and wants more than what he was made for. theres so many good scenes and characters in this movie. nani is an amazing sister. shes young and trying so hard to take care of her sister. i also appreciate that she was maybe the first disney woman to have a more realistic body style rather than the barbie type body the earlier ones had.

One of the fun facts about this movie was that it was postponed for release because they had to reanimate the entire last part after 9/11. Originally they took a 747 and was chasing after Jamba in the plane through the city veering between skyscrapers. Obviously that wouldn’t have gone over well at the time 😅 You can find the original ending on RU-vid!

This is that movie that ages really well. As a little kid I was all about Stitch and thought he was the coolest. Then I grew up a little, learned what it was like to be different and get bullied and Lilo was my hero. Then as I become a young adult Nani, who I had never really cared for, I could see was the real hero…and I understood a lot more of the humor

Dont know if youll see this 6 months after but there actually a reason for jumba and plekley having a massive space ship the movie originally had the dropped off and using an airplane to chase down lilo but during development 9/11 happened so they changed up that entire chase scene to make it more palatable there a video out there showing the original and the altered side by side

What I love most about this movie is that there really isn't a villain. Bubbles and Gantu are just doing their jobs, and despite calling himself evil, Jamba doesn't really come off as that evil.

Hawaiians believed that fish with human like faces could control the weather. lilo was feeding puge to prevent another storm from hitting the islands. like the one that killed her parents while driving in the rain. the scene at 8:55 was recently edited by disney. in the originals lilo was getting out of a washer. but disney feared kids would hurt themselves. so changed it to a pizza box and shelf. lilo also translates to "broken". giving more meaning to lilo and stitch(-ed together).

Well... hard to pick a favorite scene in this one, there are so much funny or touching moments. I'd say the scene where Stitch built a replica of San Francisco (initials SF like science-fiction, by the way, I suppose it's voluntary) only to play the monster came to destroy everything for the funny ones, and the scene after Cobra Bubble's frist visit, in Lilo's bedroom for the emotional ones. And I totally had a crush on Nani when this movie came out. So I'd pick her as a favorite character, even if this hard to choose too.

Nani was a professional surfer, won medals and all, but gave up of everything after her parents died because she needed a stable job to take care of her sister or the government would take her away.... I always cry thinking about this, it's such a realistic story, there are so many people out there who had to make choices like this

For the Hawaiian dances, Chris Sanders demanded that the animators respect all the subtle movements and gestures of the dancers. Before this, Disney had a poor track record for depicting Pacific Islander Culture. They had Timon from The Lion King dress in drag and do a hula- still funny because they're animals but not very not culturally sensitive.

One thing many people seem to miss about this movie. Disney only does retelling of per-existing stories. This movie is no exception, but that story is overlooked. This is the tell of the Ugly Duckling, but told through an alien life form. That's why Stitch looking at the book in the rain, and repeating the line from the book, is so important to the development of the character. It is also my favorite moment in the movie; as I realized this was the story Disney was telling the entire time. A story of belonging, or family, of not fitting in.

I hate to break ur heart like this but the reason lilo is so scared to not feed pudge the fish is bc he “controls the weather.” And her parents died in a car accident so it’s assumed it was bc rain and she hopes by feeding him it won’t happen again. So she feeds him so ppl around her are safe from her family’s fate.

The scene where he plays guitar on the beach hurts my soul. First the rush him and then a random person sprays him with water. Like why would you spray someone's dog with water. Who does that?. And why is Nani so quick to let the "dog" drown?

The reason Lilo thinks Pudge the fish controls the weather is becouse the day she didn't feed him her parents died due to a storm. Children blame themselves for these kind of things, twisting them in order to understand them becouse they can't process them other way. That's why its so important to feed him, so it doesent happen again. There's a deleted scene where she introduces Stitch to Pudge and he indirectly causes Pudge's death. Then Lilo buries Pudge next to her parent's gaves and Stitch understands that there are consecuences to his actions. There's a lot of deleted scenes and details about the loss and bastardization of hawaian culture wich were left out of the movie. One of them is the song that Nani sings to Lilo when she's about to be taken away: you can't understand 'cause you don't know the languaje but it is the same song they sung when the last queen of Hawaii was dethroned by colonicers. Very apropiate for saying goodbye to her sister as she is taken away by the goverment. Also Lilo means "torn" or "divided" so the title of this movie means "torn and stitched" referencing their family situation

As a grown ass adult when this came out: yes, i watch (more in the past but still) such childish movies ... and this one has a special place. Till this day, when my younger sister and i argue (not too harsh, then it might not work) and afterwards things need to cool down a bit i'll just say 'Ohana means family' ... always works.

my favorite Disney movie IT turned 20 this year. Watch Stitch has a Glitch! ALL the squels are good that's the best. THe others are conteced to the tv show. it's on Disney Plus
