I need Cutter to rebound for my Calder predictions 😭What are YOUR thoughts on the Ducks benching Gauthier not once, but TWICE? And what do YOU think about his Calder chances now? Let us know #GravGang!
As a die hard ducks fan and was at the game, Gauthier was probably the worst player on the ice last night for either team. Players need to be held accountable. He did it to Zegras last year and Z learned from it. Z had comments as well on it and had great comments on it and shows he has leadership. It was the correct choice.
After watching 2 full rebuilds, I've learned that players don't get benched (or sent down) based on "how bad" the mistakes are. The real reason they're benched (or sent down) is usually because of the number of times they've been told. How long does it take you to listen and how long does it take you to learn? Zegras told us exactly what the issue is, because it's taken him years to learn it himself - Game Management... AKA time and score, support from teammates, shift length, risk/reward. It was all there in that shift, and some guys just don't want to hear it.
He has an elite shot and thats literally it. There's a reason he didn't want to play in Philly and has never specified why. He didn't want this fanbase or coach to hold him accountable for taking shifts off constantly. Guy wants to coast on and off the ice.
some "unfair punishment"? lmao bro he was trash and they sent a message no free spots on a team earn it or go back to lighting up the minors and enjoy bud
Hes playing with Killorn, Carlsson is Elite so hes been able to overcome it, but cant expect a rookie to. If you watch the ducks, Cronin isnt putting ONE SINGLE player in a position to succeed offensively, which is largely what the calder is judged on
Ducks fan: Overall I feel like this is an overreaction especially since there’s precedent with Cronin benching underperforming players. Cutter showed low effort on some shifts and was held accountable. Cronin is hard on young players and I fully believe he’ll be fine in the long run after he meets the expectations the team has for him. He’ll probably be back on the top line next game and it’ll be back to normal.
Some young players do well right out the gate others take time. Those two will be just fine even if it takes a couple of years. Probably won't take that long.
After the trade happened, it came out that a large number of teams flat out said "No" on him. Rumor was that it was character issues. Looking like that was true....maybe
Never heard any of that until your comment. That Philly journalist might be just a touch biassed though. I would think most teams would jump at the chance to get a potential high scoring forward at a reduced price. More than likely those teams didn't have the assets even for slightly less than he is worth. Ducks had the pieces for at least a fair-ish trade.
@@AnaheimRob no, I never cared about him, I'm a habs fan not a Flyers one. But demanding a trade away from the team that gave you your chance before even playing for them for real is a shitty attitude.
@@AnaheimRob promises of what, THEY chose him, not the other way around. Those kids should consider themselves lucky to be selected no matter the team...
The Ducks are 3 games in. Cutter is on a new line, with new teamates. I wouldn't worry about a guy like him. Coach Cronin sat him a bit and in the aftergame interview last night he said that sometimes players can learn from watching. I think there is some truth to that. It's not a big deal. Connor McDavid hasn't scored in the first 4 games. I guess he should be benched too. 😀
@@ComradeDaveH Michkov is also just the better player not sure what kind of 'gotcha' you think this is supposed to be as Michkov would've gone 1st overall every year without Bedard if there weren't any question marks regarding his status
As a flyers fan I support his failures. The way he acted I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a bust . He’s a soft little boy thats wants things handed to him
I think this whole ducks team has been super underwhelming. Zegras actually sucks to watch. Hurts my soul because he use to be one of the best to watch.
Why? Because he’s making the right plays all the time instead of trying to dangle his way to the offensive zone. His game has really matured, and it’s evident your eyes haven’t done the same.
@@YSD91 Have you watched them play? It has been awful. No need to attack me. Zegras looks like Ovi during the playoffs last year. He just doesn't care.
@@chester5243 Sarcasm works both ways. Doubt he gets sent to the AHL any time soon. The Ducks will get better this year but won't be a playoff team until next year at the earliest. They want Cutter to gain experience now. He hasn't played awful but if he doesn't show improvement, he might see a few weeks of AHL time, but that wouldn't be for a little while yet. More than likely, he gets up to par by then.
