Hi Sarah. Loved your repairs and showing how you approached them. Well done for all of them. End results excellent. Loved the straightening out of noodle yarn process - thanks. the hanging was especially great 🤩. Your April cardigan looks devine on you! Suits you! Great job there. Thanks for showing us to slow down and repair our not- so -perfect FO's. SO rewarding. Yep, what a good mate you are to Paige - she will LOVE her "new" yarn!! Good luck with your exam(s) Paige. 🥰 thanks Sarah🥰
Ooh i love this video! It's so satisfying, and you are a GREAT friend for doing that for Paige! When I was younger I'd just dump my fails on my grandma hopelessly and she would tut tut tsk tsk while fixing my problems. These days I tend to put them in a bag and tuck them away...making a day/week for surgery and fixes is a great idea, very satisfying to watch (still not convinced i would enjoy it myself, but feeling more inspired). It KILLED me when your button band was narrower after repair. I feel your pain 🫣 I would have thrown that thing in the bin 🤣
I enjoyed this video - you are so kind to surprise Paige with her frogged cardigan and yarn ready to go. I laughed so hard when I saw the narrower band of the April cardigan, but it was definitely a good experience as you were able to identify what needed to be fixed. Also, this experience of fixing your knits is so handy in the future. Over the past few days, I've been mulling over what my next project will be. I wanted something different but could not decide on the project or the yarn. Then I realized your April cardigan was the perfect color - I have Woolyknit in Harvest and Drops in curry and this will make a beautiful garment. I just need to decide on the October sweater or a cardigan. I hope you make this video into a series.
I am so inspired by your patience and perseverance. What a great video. Also glad you included Tony. Cats with human names forever (says the cat mum to Stuart and Gus.)
so glad i found your podcast!! i really loved seeing you put in the little extra effort to make something handmade truly something you want to own and wear. (also, how glorious to hear aussie accents on a knitting channel!!)
That was so satisfying to watch. When I saw Paige sitting on the floor with the unfinished jumper a few episodes ago, I wanted to frog it so badly for her. Thank you Sarah!
I love this video. We put so much time and effort into our knits, I love that you took it to another level. I recently ripped the entire hood of a sweater I knit 5 years ago and never wear, then continued with shortening the sleeves a bit. It was so time consuming and difficult, but it’s now my favorite piece to wear !
Yes! Can we vote? -- Rip back to the middle of the button band behind your neck so it won't show. What beautiful pieces! SO helpful to see how you'll modify. Good luck!
So inspiring! I love Anna’s fall fix it videos too. I started to add length to a sweater I knit for one of my sons, he’s growing like a weed 😍. I’m going to finally finish that today. Thank you 😊
Amazing repairs!! The yellow cardigan looks really lovely now, a labour of love! I can never get the button bands correct - one side always hangs. But I now know it is the pick-up ratio. Thanks! Will Paige recognise the yarn from her jumper? That will be interesting to see.
Haha I presume she will recognise it but stay tuned 😛 I feel like "labour of love" definitley describes this and a lot of my knits. But that's what makes then special 🥰
My tummy has taken several rollercoaster dives…first at the mention of exams 😅 sending best wishes to Paige for that, and then frogging for a friend….gulp😅but beautifully done! Kudos for your patience on the button band…I would be crawling to the end with bleeding nails at that task …ergh…but it looks amazing.
Thank you so much for this video. I am learning so much about different techniques and yarn weights etc. I am 3 weeks into my recover of a factured humeral. You videos have given me the inspiration for so many projects that I though I could never achieve. Good luck with your exams Paige and can't wait to see what you guys will achieve this year. ❤
@@twopurlsinapod not able to knit, just planning what I want to do once I can knit again. So many lovely yarns to buy. Also I am also in Melbourne and I now know more places to spend my money.
This was so great to watch. Time well spent in making things that you’re not going to get full use of into gorgeous finished FOs. Having just spent days knitting my first double knitted button band, I certainly felt your pain in having to rip out and reknit the band in full again. I love that you can put it all into perspective and value the process and appreciate how much you’ve learned. It will make you a much more skilled knitter as you move on to new projects. Frogging Paige’s jumper and re-skeining the yarn is such a lovely BFF thing to do. I think she’ll be delighted. You’re a gem 🥰
It is so nice to see you in summer during our snowy winter in Montreal Canada. You are very courageous cutting in your knitting and repairing everything, this is quite an inspiration ! I loved the cups on the hanks to straighten the yarn, great idea, thanks so much.
Thanks for such a great video. Loved how you tackled your 'repairs' - definitely makes it seem like something that can be done instead of fretting over. I have a few things that need repairs and now I'm thinking about how to tackle them. Thanks again!
Thank you so much. That was really motivational. You’ve definitely given me the incentive to revisit some UFO’s that were crying out for help. Have a great day and happy knitting 🧶
Yay you, Sarah!! Congratulations on getting all the items ticked off 🎉. I can understand the level of “don’t even care anymore, just want to get this done” you reached at the end. The April cardigan is stunning and was totally worth the effort. I am in awe of how beautifully you reclaimed Paige’s yarn for her!! Like new! Hopefully she will feel she’s just been gifted some beautiful new yarn! You’re so thoughtful, what a cool and generous thing to do for a friend!❤ Good luck to Paige for her exams!!!!!
I agree with others that this is a shot of inspiration to get back to some WIPs that can't be faced because there's something 'wrong'. I made the Ariana cardigan (crocheted squares, so can't be frogged) and it doesn't fit me. I've also made the knitted bands too tight. I can redo the ribbing and I will gift the cardigan. I have another project with colourwork in only one contrast colour around the bottom third of the body. I naively thought that I could just catch the yarn for long stretches, and it would all be okay. It's not. I didn't know about the ladderback jacquard technique when I tackled it, and the pattern didn't mention this as an option. I am yet to decide whether I will just rip that bit back and make it a plain cardigan or if I will rip it back and teach myself the method required. Your episode has made me think that this would be the best option to promote learning. Witnessing your success has given me the right amount of encouragement. Lovely seeing you pop up.
Thanks lovely 🥰 make the jumper you want to wear. If you get to learn a new technique along the way then great, but i guess I’ve always been a project-focused knitter. Good luck either way 😁
Wow ! Well done. I have to do some surgery on the neckline of a sweater and you have inspired me to just get on with it. I will watch this video again as I do it to give me more courage!!
Iv'e just spent four evenings unraveling the bind-off and 9cm of ribbing of a sweater because I wasn't happy with the length (too short) and honestly, it was hell haha so I can't even imagine doing all those fixes at around the same time! (I'm saying that but next week I'm supposed to do a "fixing week" for other knits as well... oh well 😅) so well done!! I've just binge-watched all of your videos and I'm excited about the next podcast with Paige ☺
Haha yeh I confess it wasn’t a fun time. But worth it in the end. Keen to see some of your fixes 😊 haven’t seen Paige in over a month but got a knit night planned for this week and im so excited.
Great motivational video I really enjoyed this episode. You did an amazing job with your fixes. I ripped back a beanie to the brim because I realised I was going to run just short of yarn and didn’t want to buy a whole new ball. I’m re-knitting the body of the hat on smaller needles and plan to block the crap out of it to compensate 😂😂
Yesss love it 😁 I've had enough flop knits in the past which take up space and never get worn, far better to spend more time in it to make it something useable. Good luck 🥰
I loved this video! Thank you for filming the admin work and inspiring us all to get off the cast on high and fix our projects. I’ve got some socks to darn and a sweater that is too cropped calling my name. Hope the exams go well for Paige! ❤
Thanks lovely 🥰 Gotta confess it was hard to motivate myself to work on these cos felt like a chore and very minimal dopamine. But worth it in the end.
Thank you for the very creative idea using a mug as a weight when preparing yarn - brilliant! I've been asking my brother-in-law to allow me to shorten a sweater that I made for him years ago. Maybe I'll ask him to watch that part of the video using cut/graft method. 😎
Last night I literally just frogged a sweater that’s been sitting in a corner for a few years (I never loved it) and already have plans to cast on a cardigan later today. Don’t know why I procrastinated so long!
Loved this episode! I have an Ariana Cardigan that needs all of the crochet square rejoined cause the method I used just doesnt look polished.....😵💫 I admire you for tackling yours in summer, its 28°c here in Wellington and there is no way Im working on that 100% alpaca Cardigan atm 😂🥵
Haha yeh there’s a finite number of days >35 degrees I can deal with while still doing normal life/knitting. I think getting started is the biggest battle with these things, I believe in you 😛
Hey Sarah, well done. I definitely have a few to fix as well; am now more inspired to attend to them. Hey just a question which I can probably and will google, what is the technique to tie and skein up Paiges wool ? Good luck to Paige for her exams.
Hello! Thanks lovely 🥰 I just used my niddy-noddy to skein up Paige's yarn, then did a loop tie thing 4 times evenly to keep it all in a loop. Does that make sense?
Haha I still haven’t told her and not sure if she’s gonna see the vid before I see her next. But love the prospect of more people engaging in friend-initiated frogging 😛
Great video to start my morning in the U.S.! Really enjoyed this video. I am on the hunt for new interchangeable knitting needles (upgrading my wooden knit picks interchangeables). Any recommendations? :)
Thanks lovely 🥰 I’ve been using the knit-pro symphonies for a while which is a good set. But have recently been using the metal Chiagoos and I love em. If I had my time again that’s the full set I’d invest in.
