Finally the video I've been searching for!! I cut my own layers at home using the same method of pulling hair forward and always wondered if I could cut my hair extensions the same way. Finally you've answered my question. I believe yours is the only video on RU-vid showing this. 👍👍👍👍
By far the best tutorial for cutting hair extensions I've seen! Never seen this technique before but it makes so much sense now I've seen it. Why didn't I think of it! 😂 thanks!
This was so helpful and the easiest way i've seen so far! Sometimes i wear tape extensions and whenever i get a new set i struggle to cut them just right. Can't wait to try this. Thank you!
Omg it took me 3 seconds !! Thank you so very much ! I didn’t have the 150 ext I normally get but I did have about 100 I took the whole thing over head and it came out gorgeous . Just what the doctor ordered tonight 😉👍
Hey Jenn, I'm new to this and don't know if you're still answering questions, but what if I want shorter extensions overall? Meaning, I got the 20" but I ordered wrong and I want 18" max - would you suggest just doing a blunt cut to ONLY the extensions in this case? Not sure I want to layer them until I first get some length off...wondering what you think. Thanks in advance! Love your channel :) -Jen
I did these on my extensions earlier && it turned out amazing! This makes everything so much easier && is most useful out of the other tutorials I seen. THANK YOU SO MUCH😘
I just tried this on my hair extensions. I've never cute hair before or something, I'm just 15, and I didn't want to pay a lot of money at the salon to cut my hair extensions. It was so easy and it worked just as I wanted to! Thanks!!
This is the easiest video I've seen so far! I'm still nervous about cutting my own because I'm afraid I'll mess it up, but the hair I have is a bit too long for my liking and I want it to appear more natural so the difference isn't drastic. Great video!
I wanna try this with my extentions but I'm scared I don't wanna mess them up it looks easy but my hairs a little bit up to my neck I have short layers.. HELP!
If I have short hair and want pretty prominent layers so I can wear them straight would I use my natural hair as the guide or just decide where I think the first layer should be?
Great tutorial! 😊 Will this work even for tape extensions? I tried cutting mine once while simply combing the hair forward like you did. I had all of the hair in a pony tale, just above my hairline. Then cut all the hair at once. It did not turn out as good as I hoped. The length was ok, but the layering was not really blending that well. I hope you can tell me whether or not your technique, cutting section by section and not all at once, will work for tape extensions as well. 😊
That's a great technique Jenn ♡ ..now I have a new way in trimming my extentions ..i just recently got mine trimmed at salon but once I see ends splitting I'll be happy to save money and diy :) my question is I have about 3 inches below shoulder length hair..my extension s are about 16 inches long..are my extensions supposed to be the same exact length of my natural hair?? :) thanks again doll for this diy vid..loved it~bubblzzvces ♡♡
No they should definitely be longer. The only layer that will be the same is that very first front layer. and you can even keep that one about an inch or two longer if you want :)
ok so i recently baught some hair extensions there 18 inch but they look more like 22 inch because they go down my stomach. The thing is i got them the color auburn brown and my hair is light brown and i have a ash light blonde ombre.would my hair still look good ? if i tried to blend them in with my hair?
You did a good job. I am too scared to cut my own hair though. I did as a teenager and I always messed it up. lol. Btw, your hair without extensions is beautiful as well.
Great tutorial, but I have one question....once you cut your extensions, how do you know which extension to place where on your head, after they've been cut...will they need to be placed each time in the same area of your head because they are all now different lengths? How do you store them after cutting?
Yes you should place them close to the same spot each time. You can # them but I don't, because I use about only 5 of the wefts and I remember the placement according to how many clips. The two clipped ones I put on the side are also easy to remember because after the cut the with be diagonally cut on the ends so I now the shortest part goes closest to my face. When I take them out I place them in the order I apply them bottom back piece on top. Then brush them twist them and place them in the packaging or a small cloth bag.
I have a new set of extensions that are super long. they look really obvious in my this shoulder length hair. after trimming them to blend do you have any suggestions on how to make them blend when your natural hair is on the thin side?
I actually don't but you can. The reason I don't is because I use about only 5 of the wefts and I remember the placement according to how many clips. The two clipped ones I put on the side are also easy to remember because after the cut the with be diagonally cut on the ends so I now the shortest part goes closest to my face. :)
Do NOT know if you will even see this but: I JUST bought my first set of those specific extensions. The extensions I had made are just too thin at the ends. If I am wanting to keep majority of the length (that's my main reason for getting these) so would I just 'trim' and if so ... do you think it will still look blended? I have long layers. I hope that all made sense. (Ps. New Sub here :) )
Hello, I recently bought the balayage Bellami 160g /20 inches. My hair length is where my neck ends, but the extensions are so thin! I don't know what to do, either cut ti in layers, but I'm scared they turned even thinner or buy some other extensions. But don't know which ones! And I'm broke after spending almost 300 with Bellami! Help!! Thanks
Zeth GET LUXURIES!!! they are amazing as jenn said i am absolutely in love with mine and i have had both brands before and i can honestly say they are both nice but hands down i love my luxury for princess ones so much!
You have to wash bellami's before you wear them. Bellami puts a film on there extensions to make them extra silky which in my opinion looks awful. When I washed them though they looked a hell of a lot better
i gotta cut mine to make them blend but im scared cuz i spent money...but if i did this im scared cutting it to my shortest layer will make them too short
Hi hun I was the same I played good money for my really ones and was scared to mess up so I went on eBay and got a cheap fake set and practiced... A good little tip to is to only cut a small amount at a time, then you can always go back and trim more if needed... Hope I help it how I did mine XxXxXx
PROS: She has a delightful demeanor, the set is nice and lighting perfect. CONS: I had to skip through two minutes to get to the tutorial. Then I couldn't even see her technic as her wrist is in front of the place she is cutting. Bad angle for teaching. Also, how about a shot of the hair when it's finished? How well did it turn out? Did she have to make any changes? Was it layered? All one length? Let's see it! The proof in the pudding.
Hi! Great video, I have l-o-n-g 22" extensions and I'm going to try this. I don't want to loose much length, but certainly some. You can see them on my channel! Thanks for the great DIY help! New subby!
Ahhhhhh ZALA....Nahhhhhh Bellamy. I will never go back to cheap and ratty brands again, they're not value for money when you have to replace them so often!
Idk how u did it and im not trying to be rude but its so unprofessional not just the way your doing it but also how ur grabbing the shears i wouldn't try this at home
Actually that is how you're suppose to hold professional shears. I am licensed and have over 10 years experience. This video is intended to be simple for someone with absolutely no experience.
