As a former boss told me: "If it is still not moving after 15 seconds, get your ass off the gas and radio for a pull." Granted, it was a D10 he was complaining about...
My dad told me that if it was slowing down and not powering out, best to lift the equipment and get out of there. If it stops going forward, just get a pull before you make a mess. It worked well for the most part. Quite often running a breaking disc, I’d pull the pin and crank the tractor off to the side out of the hole, then tug the disc out with a big chain. If you bury the biggest set of wheels, it only gets worse from there.
Good advice! Even with a truck, you can tell pretty much right away if aren't gonna make it out. But plenty of guys think 10 min of spinning tires and throwing mud everywhere is eventually gonna get them out.
Man I watch all your videos, you have talent how the hell do you spread that stuff like that you make it look so easy , I tried leveling my front yard , took me two weeks
Hi Chris your Canadian subscriber Kevin hope this makes you chuckle my dad (My Angel above) always said if you had a perfect day you did not get much done but if you got stuck you got allot done , I just wanted to share that with you my friend also sending a prayer of good health, love, happiness, may God bless you and be with you always
I once berried my 4 Wheel Drive 1962 Scout so deep on a logging road in the mountains that I couldn't even open the doors. In the PNW, on the coast, back in the 70's we got close to 100 inches of rain a year. The ground never really dried out, only got a crust on it. Hit that spot at about 20 mph, broke through the crust and sunk, never stopped so fast in my life. Took a D4 to get it out. You just never know with mud. Sorry for the trip down memory lane, but watching you fighting that stuck dozer brought back that memory. Good memories though. Thanks for sharing.
I was running up A,creek in a 4wd Chevy pickup. Limestone bottom.,,, boom, run off limestone...,,quick sand about 3.5 feet deep.had to drag it out with a big 4wd John Deere tracter.
Nice job getting the dozer out, never stuck until you give up. That little low spot quickly turned into quagmire, it was just like add dozer and stir, instant muck. Project is taking shape nicely, thanks for the ride along sir
More Road Base put down and House Lot Cleared - Great Job indeed ! Stuck Dozer and VOLVO to the Rescue - Brilliant ! More Road Building ! This was a very Interesting Video ! Know How saved the Day ! Many Cheers from us in Australia !!!!
“STUCK” is NOT in Chris’s vocabulary! After watching him get that one excavator out that was buried to the cab that he rescued there is nothing he can’t get out!
Chris it’s nice to know that sometimes everyone will get stuck once in awhile. Glad to see that you got out quickly. Great work that you accomplish with your equipment.
Wowza. All I can say, Chris, is I am in awe of your talents, skills, and abilities. I was amused at the beginning using the Skid Steer to get John's truck unstuck but you working alone to get yourself extricated: that was fabulous. You are the best, by far sir. Thanks for sharing this. It was fun to watch (I imagine not fun to have it happen - I've been stuck before).
My father was in the Operating Engineers Union for over 50 years. He always said that a dozer without a winch is scrap iron. That was a deep hole. It might need a culvert. It might be a good place to build a pond.
@Chris Boy when you had the 250 bucket up against the blade of the Komatsu it really made me appreciate how big a machine the 250 really is. It kinda made the Komatsu look like a Tonka toy. As usual you made light work of getting it unstuck and carrying on the job.
My 5TH Great Grandfather, Mathias Slaymaker, built corduroy roads across some of his property in the early 1700's in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. They charged a toll to use the roads they had to build. For many, it was the only way to get anywhere.
I have seen many operators get stuck that was so brain-dead the only thing they do was set there and calling for help instead doing such a simple thing like you have done like all the rescued stuff It just shows how much better you are then the other 99% your in a class of your own ! Great job again !
It’s been wet for sure! Love the videos Chris! We have a lot on common when it comes to operating skills. I own a small grading business and do a lot of the same jobs y’all do. Good, honest living and would not change it for nothing. Keep up the videos my friend, we all enjoy them
Sure would be nice to have a winch on that dozer. Mine has got me out of some bog holes many a time. Plus, they are so useful for other things as well.
Haha! I was thinking the same thing but the Chris first starts to “Row” the Dozer out and then uses the Excavator as a pivot point to push on, evidently his experience and knowledge makes him think completely different from us “normal” folk!
@@spewp The correct term is "frugal". He's willing to spend money, but only when and where he HAS to. Unlike another Perfect channel I won't mention who seems to love every new toy to come down the pike. LOL
It wasn't bad stuck. It just slimed the tracks and made slicks out of them. I had faith you would prevail over a little mud. Another great video enjoy them all.
Oh I was hoping Chris was going to give John a quick call I`m stuck and need a hand.....Then john turns up laughing.....But Chris being Chris gets the job done....great video......Stay Safe LD18......Happy Holidays all
Chris lots of advice coming in about track pads carousers etc. I think they think they know more about equipment than you do . Good job getting out of the mud . Ño advise from me since I don't own a doser .
Oh well just have to try and then get unstuck - easy with all those machines on hand. Interesting to watch this type of work being done - virgin land being transformed.
Great job getting that Dozer out Chris but if you would have really noticed in the video you were Center high in the rear that is what was holding you also John does a great job backing and spreading gravel Kudo to the both of you I try to watch every video of yours I can enjoy it very much thanks for sharing God bless all
Woooeeee !! The bottom fell right on out of the creek there , didn't it !! lololol... Man it was just barely stuck in there, just needed a little nudge to get her on out...lolol... I knew you was getting across there one way or the other though Chris !! Damn creek !! lolol... Great as always Chris !! Have a Great Evening, and Weekend, And, On too the Next....
I usually have faith in your judgement but from why I saw in the camera view prior to you entering pit I was saying ... NO don't go there. But you did. You're human after all. 😀
I expected stuck to mean stuck by Chris' standards . I don't even think that measures up to mildly inconvenienced . Great job showing how not to get stuck.👍
I think all the balloons you found got together and made that mud hole just to trap you lol. Great job getting yourself out of it and very thoughtful to place some trees in the hole for added support.
That's some of the craziest shit I've seen in a while! 😂 Sorry for your luck but I was entertained really wondering if you would get that out single-player style. Bravo!
It didn't look that bad for you to try to start crossing had to be some slick mud love your videos be safe have a great day and a very Merry Christmas Sam
A makeshift corduroy road to cross the soft bottom creek for the win! It ain't pretty, but it works. We had an older gentleman family friend who ran a crawler, working for the crew, when they were building the Alcan Highway. He said his crew built a piece of road across a muskeg swamp, about 2000ft long, they went back to camp that evening, returned in the morning, road was gone, just a black strip of muck where the road was. He said after their 2nd attempt and failure, and loss of some equipment, they chopped down hundreds of pine trees, made a corduroy road and put the road bed successfully across the bog on those trees,, he said they might still be there!😎😎😎
I use to get a tractor stuck in the field or woods n i would put the tractor in first in front run back to the stuck tractor running n put it in first to get it out ,put it in neutral, jump off n run up to the front tractor to stop it.many times.when you work alone you figure it out.while trying to stay safe cause no is coming to help for alot of hours.
Well yes sir it got interesting quick and it didn't look like it is too soft but that heavy machinery in a situation like that where there's no bottom foundation it can go quickly but good save glad that the excavator was there and like you said it got interesting very quickly
Quicksand pit and the dozer found it. Was that a tree stump hole? Tree limbs and branches for the fire have more than one use, now they are roadworthy. Great going getting back in progress.
Andrew Camarata has several videos of getting himself unstuck running two pieces of equipment by himself. Put one in gear then hop in the other and push the other out then hop in the first one to take it out of gear. Dicey but it works.
29:22 There are old pictures of when they built the Alaska Highway where they use logs by the dozen to line the muddy route until better fill could be placed.
