A wise man told me once "the key to getting stuck and getting out of it is knowing when to quit getting stuck". You did good by not digging yourself in so deep that you couldn't get out.
As a layman I did not realize how big and powerful that excavator really is until I watched it pull out the dozer and see the bucket in front of the blade of the dozer, it truly gives me a better appreciation of how big & powerful those machines actually are!
Well, I’m not sure whether to refer to Chris as the Dirt Magician or the Stump Whisperer or the Brush Buster or the Pond Wizard but he’s efficient and smooth at all those tasks and much more. Oh, and he’s really great at putting out videos that are enjoyable to watch. Thanks for all the effort you put into supplying us with some wonderful entertainment.
I’ve watched you taking down big trees, and rescuing big pieces of machinery with that 220. It’s power is impressive. Plus doing this by yourself is equally impressive. Well done Chris
I’ve gotta say over these several years I’ve watched you …. Watching you and your symbiotic relationship with mud mud mud is one of my favorites ! Dredging it, moving it, smearing it, and occasionally getting stuck in it ! Mud mud mud makes me smile ! 😁
The ability you have to haul out a 51000lb machine and gently pick up a 5' snake is lovely to watch. (Snake was probably a male, couldn't quite tell but it looked like a long tail which usually means male.) Despite getting stuck, the land is looking great. Thanks for the share, Chris.
I can just imagine the story that snake will be telling the other snakes. "I was picked up by this large steel thing and transported to a different world".
More Stumping - more Progress ! D6 got stuck - wow and now for the Rescue and out she comes - well done Chris - well done ! The D6 had a good Work out gathering all the Stumps in to Piles ! Burn Piles are getting Big ! Many Cheers from Australia !!!!
I did not fully grasp the power of the volvo 220 excavator until I watched how it moved the dozer from side to side and back so easily. Amazing the power of hydraulics. I was nice to see you treat the snakes with such respect. I enjoy each of your videos. thanks for sharing and showing.
I don't know how many times in 40+ years of farming, I got the tractor stuck on a stump on rock. The tractor's lowest point is the rear axle and 2 wheel drive has an issue when the drive wheels aren't touching earth. A tractor is easy to get off the stump with a chain hooked to both rear wheels and rotate the wheels slowly. Or place a log under the tractor and chain the log to both rear wheels. I learned these methods from an old timer that farmed with steel wheels.
I learned pretty much the same tricks but some folks got hurt and or killed that way too. I had a neighbor whose father was almost killed when he chained a short fence post to the rear wheel of a 4020 tractor. His muddy boot slipped off the clutch and the post came over taking out the fender and threw him off.
Well sir, getting the 6er stuck and then getting it out was the frosting on the cake, you did a fine job of getting unstuck, I’ve seen you get machines out working alone, using both machines running at the same time, so no doubt in my mind the 6 was coming out. Thanks for the tag along video.
That's a right fine black snake alright, those are pretty good to have around because not only do they get rats and mice, but rattlers are near the top of their menu for favorite food. Yeah you might not like 'em, but trust me. You'd want to have those around. At the same time, find a lot of those, and I'd not take a stroll near any brush or tall grass just to be safe. Looked like on that first little pull on the dozer blade was making the excavator slide. And you're right about how quick a dozer can sink, watched a guy once go from mild stuck to "how did you get the seat lower than ground level in the time it took me to go get the other dozer from the other side of the site?!" That man I heard could teach a master or doctor level class in screwing up.
Chris, I could suggest putting a hook on the back that you could grab to pull out. But you would go to that expense and never get stuck again. Just like insurance you pay and never use. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 You are doing a great job and providing fantastic video. Thank you from Australia.🇦🇺
Ii I remember correctly, the dozer is Betty the Beast Slayer. I thought for certain she was hung on a stump! Nope, stuck in the mud! Mud is the great equalizer. Now Betty does have some serious Junk in her Trunk. I was surprised that even the Ex had to struggle a bit to turn Betty in the right direction. Was amazed at how much power Betty has. She pushed around those huge piles of brush and stumps pretty easily. I do love me some Betty the Beast Slayer!
Happy you weren't forced to 'sell it' :) Snake wrangling LetsDig18. That head section sure is wet - tile maybe a good idea. Bring on the hot dry weather for a month or so. Great video.
Isn't it strange, how you live into the film, when the stumps are going up. you tense stomach muscles and other things to "help". exciting and interesting, as usual Chris.
I was thinking, "If it don't come out now, just dig a hole and cover it up." 😅GrandPa always said, "When ya stick a dozer, you've really done something."
A frame mounted O bolt out the back end of the dozer to tow with - might help you drag it out of a hole. one or two bucket tooth and drag backwards. Just a thought. Martin
I truly enjoyed the video as always. I wasn't sure what you planned on get the d6 out. I was afraid it had a stump under it and was turning on it. High center and mud is not a good thing.
Don’t get aggravated son just hang with it. Your good at what you do. Take your time and deal with the mud. Smile a little a bit and put your balls to the wall and drive on.
I've been plucking stumps with a single shank ripper on a 210c Case and it's been doing a great job. Got 250 + acres to go. Will be there a while. But it's going pretty good so far. Got stumps everywhere piled up.
Well it must feel really good to have strong reliable equipment to rely on. Heck of a mess there Chris. LOVE the videos. great way to finish off everyday, watching your videos, living vicariously through you. Hahahahaha
There is always the old tried and true, never fails, a couple of old tires filled with diesel soaked newspapers. Not that I would even suggest that method but a friend told me that it will burn stubborn brush piles
The power of the 220 is amazing. It could scoot around 20 plus tons of dozer fairly easily but that power is pulling with the stick not pushing. I’m guessing the dozer was partly hung on something. If it’s any conciliation Chris the entire region is getting this miserable weather… not just North Carolina. Come the end of June you’ll be praying for some rain so you can light a burn pile on a future job.
With those snakes crowling around i wouldnt leave my cab door open lol. I know you was busy but i dont take any chance whit snakes.Hey Chris check the air pressure in your tracks. Probably why your getting stuck.
Maybe it is time to part ways with the d6 , maybe look into the green JD 850j at C&C equipment .put the wider tracks on , and it does have a cab, but you do , do great work with the D6. 👍
Feel free to edit all snake footage out of your videos! 😂 I was mowing the yard yesterday and a garder snake showed up. I went inside and called it a day. I HATE snakes and all we have here in Western Washington are “harmless” garder snakes but still hate them!
I grew up near Chris. I could have a snake crawl over my feet and my heart rate wouldn't change a bit. But throw a spider on me and I'd jump around hooting and hollering.
@@nandi123 - Hahaha true for many of us!! I’m getting used to spiders but when one decides to visit in the middle of the night,,,, blankets everywhere, my wife wondering what the h*ll’s goin on and laughter butt off at me! Glad snakes do t come visiting in the night! I want to think I’m still not bothered by them!! Haha.
That extracting was far lass painful than getting a tooth pulled bro, made for great viewing along with the rest of the video. May the 4th be with you young Gedi fans
That's the stuff i get into working by myself. The only thing better than getting one stuck is when you can get both stuck trying to get one out. Working words are about to start.
Hello Chris et al: I was thinking and realized you're young, talented and the most important thing is, you have patients, lot's of patients! So why not go to Med school and become an MD? Chris Guins MD sounds good. :) thanks for a fun video Chris.
Like the one gentlemen said before you ever catch yourself shaking your phone when he picks up a stump? I laughed then caught myself doing it later that week 😂. Thanks for the videos Chris
Would have been a great advert for Bounty paper towels. Just put a few behind each track and, piece of cake, your out 'works every time'. Looks like its shaping up.
Love the Uh OH moment, where is that extra body when you need it.....been there, done that.....Great progress being made. & I agree with you, that field needs drainage of some form. I suspect there is a clay ridge/bowl trapping the water.
You all have got a lot of rain in the past couple of weeks so you were right soft and runny but there’s always that one or two spots that are hiding but very nice recovery and the D-6 is back at it no damage 👍😎🇺🇸NY
Using stick out you have a lot less force because pressure is being exerted on the rod side of the cylinder opposed to the head end less area for the oil to push upon because the rod is in the way.
The next Day with Stumping and Clear the Areal, with building from great Heap to burning in the next time. Stumping with the Volvo Excavator and clear with the D6. In the heat of the Fray, a to great Heap for the D 6 and the estate to wet, the D6 to sink! You to take the Excavator and give help, the Work with the D6 go farther. Congratulations to Your Courage this Problem to show!! Gladd my of the next Videos. 💪👍👌
Well Chris I would venture to guess that there’s a clay base under all that soupy sandy topsoil that water can’t get through. There is a spring somewhere.
