Hello everyone thanks for watching, this is my first upload. This is an SVG that I purchased from megane customs and it’s called it’s me. This video shows how i was able to separate and piece her back together in order to cut it out with my silhouette cameo. Hope this helps
Letvia Kotchkoski . I traced to outer image of the svg so layering it could be easier. Some people have problems lining everything up together and HTV shrinks after pressing so this method may be easier for beginners. Some people line the image up with no problem while others struggle with it
Thank you for the tutorial very helpful on multiple layering - I have to laugh... your smoke alarm is chirping and I thought it was mine and I got up three times to check on mine. Hahahaha
good info, Just started using a silhouette cameo 3 and upgraded to the design edition the other day after watching other videos as most of the people use that one with all of the features it has. I haven't done a layered design yet but I see how it was easier the way you did it. Keep up the good work
So I have a guest ion, I am going to attempt my first ever and of course I purchased a multilayer design. I’m glad I found your video because I have a cameo also...I’ll reach out as I progress by the weekend
I am so glad you have a Silhouette. I subscribed because you do. I don't have designer edition but hopefully I can learn how to do this. Thanks for sharing. De'
Thanks for the video, it was helpful! As a teacher learning how to teach virtually, try Loom! It records your screen, and records you as you talk! It's pretty easy to use too!
Thanks for this tutorial. I have a similar file, and was trying to find an easy way to layer. I am fairly new to layering but am getting the hang of it. I am unable to find that file online.
Your the best thank you so much so when I cut all the pieces do I switch vinyl every time and what blade do you need to use 1,2,3,4 to cut and what settings
Each different color has to be cut separately. You can either put one color on the mat at a time and when it’s finished cutting remove that piece of vinyl and cut the next color, or you can place several different colors on the mat to be cut at the same time. I know that second option sounds a bit confusing and I may have to upload a video showing how to do that. As far as the blade, as I stated in my video I have the silhouette cameo too so that only comes with one blade. And as far as the cut settings go, that is something that you would kind of have to play around with because each machine cut differently. And different brands of vinyl require a different blade depth to, some vinyls are thicker than others I have found out. The best thing to do is start with whatever cuttings your machine says but always do a test cut first
Hi. thanks for this video. I have a SVG I bought and when I got to the 2nd step to "ungroup" my software isn't giving me this option?!?! How do I fix or what do I do?? I really can't go on to make my project if I can't ungroup these areas.
I am wondering if score lines, say on leaves to be cut, are considered a layer? Could you please advise me on how to cut and score? I have been cutting the leaves and hand scoring the lines.
This help me a lot gonna try this tommrow but I need to learn what to use when I'm doing Omg images weather I need help so bad I have set down I have tried to do it with a straight mind I just get frustrated and I take a break then I come back and I sit down at trying to find another video to watch it's like every other video either person is talking too low can't really see not giving enough information and it's hard to catch you on but you did this video with so much ease that you make it look so easy I need to call you on the phone and we need to do a video chat please I wish you lived near me cuz I will ask for your help so bad cuz I really ready to give up I mastered the making tray skills I'm still trying to learn how to size the stash Jarred ashtray I haven't made a complete set but I've been making a bunch of trays they easy but I want to do vinyl and layering and put the image on a t-shirt on a mug on a tumbler like it's so many things you could do with vinyl I need to learn how to do them and I need to get this a book to teach me I'm is a book that you can buy but thank you made it so easy I wish I knew you in person
Same ! They make it look so easy ! But I don’t even know what kind of file to start from . Svg isn’t working I guess I have to upgrade to be able to download them to silhouette :(
You did a awesome job. But I on the other hand seemed to be having a terrible time trying to make heads and tales of this whole Silhouette Cameo 4 plus. Six days in, would love to print with a layered project. Do you have a video with step by step process? Sorry for the long text. Sending out a SOS...lol
Quintin Johnson thanks for the tip, I think I mentioned it already in the video, if not this one, it was mentioned in my video where I actually pressed this same image. Thanks for watching the video
There is a way, it’s just that some people have a problem lining everything back up and also the vinyl tends to shrink as you press and sometimes it doesn’t look right if they’ve pressed it too long so this exercise was created for people who struggle with lining things up. Thanks so much for watching
I cut it in two pieces. The iris and the pupil. Here’s the video of me pressing this design so you can see. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-evZEHo2rYqU.html
Thanks for the video. great job. However I tried to follow along with you step by step with the same image. For the life of me I can't get it to move after I trace and highlight without separating the face, please help. Did I miss a step?
Hello! Awesome video. Thank you for jumping right into it!! However, some of my selections are not available to select (ungroup). Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you for the awesome tutorial Sandra! Question - every time I am trying to do layers, I lay the 1st piece to try and "tack it" and heat it 1/2 time or even less but the pieces will never come loose from the clear backing that you need to take off and I have to keep pressing/heating so by the time I get done with my layering some of the pieces have been heated so much and many times. I have tried using a teflon heating pillow and that doesn't work either. I heat at 305 degrees with a 15 inch heat press. Also - how do you protect the layers already heated enough? I use teflon sheet but I feel like that doesnt do much in protecting it. TIA! I know this is an old video so hope you will respond.
Renae Graves thank you so much for watching this video. The biggest thing is to check the pressure on your heat press, if the pressure isn’t right, the vinyl won’t stick , I normally keep my heat press around 321 to 325° (but always follow the temperature directions on the vinyl that you’re using) and while I’m pressing my layers I only do them for about three seconds apiece to avoid shrinking. Also what type of heat transfer vinyl are you using? I have a video upload of me actually pressing this image. I normally use sister HTV
Hey there, been stuck on this for awhile now. I design all of my own images, and I bring them into Silhouette Studio Designer Edition, as PNG files. I cannot figure out how to separate the colors,... ungroup is greyed out. Only tutorials I come across involve SVG files :(
You can’t ungroup a PNG file in Silhouette Studio. It is an image file with no parts/vectors/lines/layers. You can trace it, and work with it from there, but straight from the PNG there is no ungrouping.
Hello! Your video was very helpful and to the point. I’m having trouble finding this image. Also I have the basic edition. Do you have to have the designer edition?
Hi thanks for the video, I’ll preface my comment with I’m a newbie, trying to learn from all you brave souls 😊 What about using layering marks to align the image, this way everything goes on together and you avoid burning the vinyl?
With heat transfer vinyl, you can move the image around until you get it in the correct spot before you press it so it’s a bit more forgiving than permanent vinyl. I will say this about HTV, at some point it will shrink while you’re pressing it so the layering marks may not help. For a newbie using permanent vinyl I think it’s a good idea to use layering marks. Thanks you soo much for the positive feedback
This is called a layered SVG. AN SVG is different from a PNG, so make sure the image is an SVG.a PNG is just a single layered picture or image that cannot be ungrouped at all.
Interesting way of doing it. It might be easier to: fill in your traced outline, then line up the og image, then ungroup it, then finally erase the outline. It will save you the effort of having to place everything back. Doing it that way wil
The original image comes with the outline already. But as I stated in the video, HTV shrinks when you press it so you risk having the image not lining up properly and having some of the white parts showing through the image. Thanks for watching
Hi im new to all this would this be the same method im trying to do this on a tumbler lol im about to give up lol what color sheet vinyl do you use on eyes??
@@sandrafay334 oooooh ok that makes sense!! I ended up having to release the compound and color each piece differently!! Because I still have basic silhouette but thank you so much for your help ✨💕
How did u get the actual picture of her? Are they alot of different kinds? Do u have to buy it? I'm new to this but have a new machine haven't used it yet.
www.meganecustoms.com/ here is the website to purchase the image. Search for the it’s me girl on that website and there are several different versions of her there.
You could erase the original black outline and slide right in the back the black background without disassembled all the design and putting back together again all layers
Naeemah Williams if you are uploading an image from google, you have to trace the image first. Then you may either have to ungroup it or release compound path. Releasing the compound path can be a bit difficult depending on how intricate the design is. I hope I didn’t confuse you with my answer
Good morning .. I am using a cameon4 and purchase from megane too( Svg) but after I trace it and try to ungroup( nor groups) that feature does not display
I can also upload a video this weekend. I just didn’t know if anyone wanted to see that part. Sorry 😐. Any other videos that you would like me to make? Let me know what you want. I plan on recording and uploading a few videos this weekend. Thanks for the feedback
@@sandrafay334 oh I LOVE Cricut brand!! Almost just as good as Siser. I use it all the time. It holds up super good. And the price is reasonable. Only negative thing is you only get 2ft for like $12 for the iron on. But they always have it on sale for like $6-8 in Joann Fabrics.
Ariel A. Alarte What edition of silhouette studio software do you have? Are you working with the basic edition or are you working with designer edition or business edition? With the basic edition you cannot open an SVG file at all. And also what type of image are you trying to ungroup? Is it an SVG file or a DXF file?
