Cutting Off An Aunt 

I borrowed $10k interest free from my dad to pay off my credit cards. We signed a loan agreement. I made 20 $500/mo payments. When I made my final payment, my dad mailed me the loan agreement marked "Paid in Full". My stupidity got me into that mess, his prudence got me out of that mess. I was ready to kiss his feet in gratitude.

“She’s done nothing for me”? Ungrateful sob

She gave a rundown of everything she did to help him get his life together after prison and he walks out and says she didn't do anything for him. Smh. All because he's making good money and feel like he doesn't "need" anybody now. Family can be something else

His body language throughout showed how he feels, this is so sad, his aunt has been extremely good to him. Not many-prison or not, can get this kind of assistance. Aunt is a true gem, hope he realizes this one day. Very ungrateful..

That last thing Harvey said: "If a relative asks for money you should say Fine, if I get an IOU....if they get offended, tough". That's good advice. I would add that if they get offended by having to sign an IOU, that means they have no intention of paying you back.

I'm in disbelief about his final comment. How can he say she did nothing for him? She clearly helped him numerous times and he always paid her back. He doesn't want to pay for this because he didn't end up becoming a barber and doesn't see the point in wasting more money on this since he has to pay the student loan too. I feel bad for the aunt

I wish I had an aunt like that, it’s not about the money it’s about the principal. She helped him even though he chose to greatly impact his life by committing a crime. By her helping him she helped him establish ground after being in jail. He’s so ungrateful.

I will NEVER understand how someone could be this ungrateful to someone who has done nothing but help him. I believe it was a loan, but even if it wasn't she has done so MUCH for him and he has the means to pay her back. That is a different type if hateful, ungratefulness. One more comment on this, when I give a family member money, and I do mean give, even if they use the word loan, I don't expect to get back. Not that I think they are not going to keep their word, but because I give the money to my family freely because I love them. If I don't have it to give without expecting it back, I don't give it. When I get it back, great! In my family, we take care of each other. There are no loans amongst family. Moral of the story is you don't give out money you can't afford to lose.

Imagine being in prison for 10 of your most formative years. He was not allowed to have emotions, because he had to survive. He is 110% responsible for his behavior, and for paying back the loan. But when he says he has no response, I can't help but believe he is hurt inside by the situation and is trying to push that as far down as he can.

I am a STRONG supporter of trade skills and a HUGE Mike Rowe fan for that reason, but even a tradesman, if he is to be successful in life, needs to know grammar, have a correct vocabulary and the ability to express themselves intelligently - otherwise they will always be at someone else's mercy and easy prey. The critics of good sentence structure, proper use of words, knowledge of proper grammar; all seem to be the same ones who don't know the definition of the words they use when attempting to sound 'smart', or the difference between words such as "they're, there and their". Yet they want to jump to the head of the incoming earning line and be taken seriously.

If you give someone money, consider at that time if the relationship will end if it doesn’t get paid back. She said she lost something more important than the money; she lost a relative. She could have just let the money go, keep the relative, and never lend him money again. PS-it was ridiculous for her to think it was a good idea for them to send their one-year-old from Florida to New York with another relative. He was right to say no, and I think that situation would have revealed more about the money situation. As the wife said, the money came at a price.

Will if he ends back up in prison. He knows who not to call or have his hand out toward her way.
