@@WHOTEEWHO Look at this rifle before shooting these test and after, the scope clearly slid forward from the recoil. Now it needs to be retorqued and sighted in again. Always fire gun off the lead sled to check for scope movement, even after recommended torque. Big bores usually require more torque, 30in pound minimum with loctite. I know from experience

He don't have weight on the sled either so it's not taking mich recoil out of it. And the muzzle break is helping lighten the recoil.

Imagine complaining about somebody else’s perception of recoil when you shoot airsoft. Tough.
@Thedoug369
@Thedoug369 3 года назад
I don't see any weights on that sled. Also, generally felt recoil is worse when shooting off a rest than when you're standing, cause your body can't move as much to absorb the kick. In my experience anyway.

I have the same gun and with 2350fps 300gr don't find the recoil bad at all. The brake and recoil pad both are excellent, I have shot without the brake and the pad still made it more than bearable. I am however a big dude.

I purchased 3 of these cva scouts to use as loaner guns for taking out family hunting, 45-70/450/and 44 mag topped with cheap Simmons 8 pt scopes,I will be the first to admit CVS builds a solid tack driver for $300 great video

I have a CVA Scout in .444 Marlin. It fires a lighter bullet, 240 gr. but somewhat faster than most 45-70 bullets. I put a 4 power scope on it and in 2018 harvested my elk from 266 yards. The rifle is very accurate and has a wonderful trigger. The bullet was a complete through and through from top of shoulder blades and out the chest. Large wound channel but not much capillary damage.

Don't think you will ever get full recoil effect with a lead sled, absorbing energy. The holes being so clean with the 300 could be cutting paper with hollow point, and the other two pointing spreading paper open

I just bought the same rifle two months ago. I was thinking about this rifle in the 450 bushmaster. But I decided on the 45 70 as I've had a long Association with this cartridge and have several hundred bullets by speer ,hornady,Sierra, hundreds of case's, etc... In this ammo climate we are in now. It just made no sense to start out with a new cartridge I can't hardly find anything for. But to speak to the rifle itself. Having one in your hand goes a Lot farther than looking in the cva catalog. There a very solid,well built rifle. Mine shoots 400 gr flat nose, 350 gr round nose 300gr HP, 300 gr flat nose the 325 ftx, all like the example you have there. I put the vortex 1.75 x 5 dimond back on mine and used steel rings on a provided base. The trigger really shocked me. To handle it , feel the trigger, see it group and think , man I only paid 429.00 for this. Lot of value at the price point. Nice video. thanks

I have the CVA Hunter in 44 magnum. Only have a Bushnell red dot on it, but it one hole groups at 25(only shot it to get red dot zeroed) and was also able to hit golf balls on the berm behind the target. Going to let one of the grandsons use it during the "primitive" season. Have an H&R handi rifle in 500 S&W that shoots very nicely as well. Took my first deer while hunting with it last year. Before that have only finished a few off hit by cars over the years with handguns. Just put a new scope on it, Konus Pro 1-5x, after the old Simmons 3-9×50 got all crunchy going through the zoomies, but have yet to rezero because still recovering from bicep surgery. I may post that on my channel when I get up to speed again. Until then I'll have real fun watching yours.

Up until this video I thought all single shots were boring. This gave a new appreciation for accuracy and a high quality rifle.

Ive used the hornady 325 grainers out of my Henry....and I HATE the recoil. I have short arms so Its hard to use a limb saver....but since its usually really cold here during rifle season I can just wear thicker coats.

Been waiting for this one. Great video! I can't remember if you have another 45.70. If you do, I'm interested to see how a lever action would compare to this one.
