I would like to see a second review on the scope after about 1500 shots maybe 4 tins ? Just to see if that scope is holding up👍 great to see a new review!
Morning Kevin,I know that feeling.Health and family commitments above anything.Love all your video's been a airunner since the mid eighties,my first springer being a Hw80 mk1 in 22 still have that but doing a complete rebuild. Also have 2 Hw97kt in 177 and 22,have placed a order for a Hw98 in 22 format,as I am in New Zealand this could take up to a year.My last rifle, abit different 😂 being a Hatsan 135 carnivore 30 caliber.Take care
Wow! Up to a year? I'm surprised to hear that. You've got a nice arsenal of air rifles, Tai. I'm still in the " I want one " stage on the 98, and believe it or not, a Carnivore, too. The raw power aspect is alluring. I hope that you're able to take your time and enjoy yourself as you get those rifles shooting sweetly. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Kevin, you have to do what's best for you, we will still be here waiting for you. Your health is the important thing. I'm glad to see you back, see you in two weeks.
Hello kevin good to see you back . A remark over the tube diameter and light that is comming tru .depends not on the larger diameter The front lens(objective) and quality of the rest of the lensen are the factor .the larger diameter of the tube is good for strenght and for the elavation .
Hey Buddy! How's Keystone Airguns doing? Had a terrific time in the woods. So addictive. So therapeutic...☺️ Looking forward to checking out the Cometa 220. Pretty impressed so far, I've gotta' say. Nice little rifle.
You really got my attention now. I been waiting for this exact testing so I don't have to buy and destroy scopes. I don't mine unboxing. It shows how it's packaged and what's in the box.
HI Kevin, I heard what you said about not producing as many videos. That sounds good to me. Follow your heart. You don't have to produce content for me. Your health and well being is far more important. My interest in springers led me here and you have answered my questions. Several other channels have answered my questions also. Thank you, R, Steve. p.s. I believe the diameter of the scope tube has nothing to do with the brightness of the scope. The quality of the lenses determines the light transmission. The diameter of the tube determines how much elevation is possible.
Good to see you, and a Happy New Year from the UK No need to apologise for wanting a better "work/life balance". I'm sure it's something we'd all like to achieve!
Ya just can't knock a Scope because it comes out of China anymore... 🤷🏼♂️ The one thing that sets the quality scopes apart is the overriding Quality Control of the Importer. 😉👍
Quality is important. Your videos are excellent & great quality information. I'd rather have one quality episode a month that you've enjoyed making than 1 a week that you didn't enjoy the process of making. Keep up the good work 👍
Your back, nice looking scope, and shot cam.....wow, your getting very technical.....😅 scope looks great intresting to see how it holds up down the line, when you were doing the unboxing the box and foam padding looked good quality, which is always a good sign, because if they cheap out on that then what other corners have they cut, but they didn't, so that's a good start. Anyway great to see you back. I'm drinking my coffee and watching you shoot on Sunday morning here in Ireland,
Hi Kev - welcome back. I fully understand your position, and your other family commitments etc must always come first. Thanks for the review, and I trust your honesty. Keep it up, keep it real and most of all, be true to yourself and family.
Nice to see you back Kevin. You're right to prioritise time with the family, and I'm sure we're all happy to wait a while for your excellent content. Cheers from across the pond. 👍
Good video Kevin. Was great to hear you say if it's no good, you won't even see the video! 😅. Once a fortnight is just fine. Don't knock yourself out over it, you should be enjoying these videos as much as we do. Would be interested to hear more about your trip, maybe peep in your freezer! Martin (UK). 😊
Thank you, my friend. It is enjoyable for me when making videos. I wish to keep it that way, so I'm going to slow it down some. I sincerely appreciate your viewership. I'm concerned that some of my viewers may not appreciate hunting content, so I try to stay in my lane.😊 I'd be happy to send you some photos of the two deer that I took this season. Shoot me an email... pelletsandpistons@gmail.com
Welcome back....your videos have high quality, honest content, once a month would still keep me subscribed and interested. focus on your life and family.
Nice scope, but Vectors are cheaper .Don't worry about getting videos out. Do them when you're ready ,I know how you feel ,I ended up taking down all mine in the end, stay safe buddy😊
Thank you, my friend. May I ask why you took down your content? I certainly don't wish to pry, so if I'm out of line, disregard and no offense intended.
@razor1962 No problem buddy ,I used to shoot shotgun and centre fire for vermin control and comps ,I also did videos on how to dress the the quarry and then a cooking video ,like making pigeon pies , I had an AR15 ,AK47 ,.303 No4 ,lots of other rifles and black powder guns ,I then became a Range Officer. Like you said, it took a long time to film and edit the videos ,but back 20 years ago, there were a lot of anti hunters that would keep getting our videos removed, then one day myself and a friend made a few fake anti hunter channels, we would attack our own shooting video comments and before you knew it the real anti hunters would sub us and get friendly, they they would let down their guard and start giving us personal info like email address and even phone numbers, what pubs or gigs they would go to ,and it took us nearly 2 years and then we let them have it ,they still did not know who was who ,I even had them emailing ny fake account saying "don't trust Cressy7" so I would then email back saying "I know I am Cressy7 I will see you at the pub some night ,I know what car you drive and the reg number ,I will just watch and wait" then thier accounts started closing down lol ,we must of got rid of at least 10 accounts, I even made out 1 of my accounts was from the USA as I would use words like "sidewalk ,going to the store or mall ,and gasoline" ,thing is every time we put up videos we would get comments like :hope your wife and kids die of cancer for eating meat" when someone threatens my family I go full hog ,plus the poilce did not like us showing what guns we had as its part of our security to not advertise we have guns in the house ,and with them antis you never know ,sorry that was a long one but we had a great time doing it lol
@razor1962 forgot to add that I gave up my firearms license 7 years ago and stopped shooting. Yes, I know I am an idiot ,I had been shooting from the age of 12 ,I really miss them, and now, in my mid 50s ,I just put a deposit on a new HW97K hopefully pick it up end of Feb or March, and I will just do a bit of plinking and light pest control, I can't apply for a new licence now as I was taking morphine for 12 months and now stopped but now taking Tramadol, had a major back operation for 5 blown discs, and I torn pad in my knee ,because the meds are a class A drug and is normally given to ppl with mental health issues they won't grant me a licence, even tho I am only on them for pain relief, so let's go air rifle instead, I will start with the springer and them get a PCP ,I used to shoot PCP 15 years ago ,but wanted a springer because all you need is the rifle and a tin of pellets 😉😉😉 not a lot to go wrong with them
If you don't like the scope instead of bad mouthing the company you zorch the review. Very refreshing to see a reviewer with honesty and integrity. :)...... (that is why I follow your channel)
i am doing good. I just received two scopes from CV life very similar to this on just a little smaller 3-18x50 and 4-16x50 I have yet to get them mounted up or anything. but they look like very nice scopes.
Hi Marc. Always a pleasure, my friend. There seems to be a wide range with regard to the quality standards of products coming from China. Some companies are actually focusing on making a quality product. I own a couple of Chinese made DJI drones, and the technology is incredible and pretty much bug free. Just an amazing product.
Maybe not in the literal sense, Mick, but in a spiritual sort of way, yes. I find it to be a way to break out of day to day life and to go on a mini adventure. Each outing is very therapeutic and rejuvenating. Thanks as always, my friend.
I actually got a new scope delivered today, I went with a utg 3-12 compact, they have worked well so far on my springers but the cross hairs are a bit thick , if I would have seen this video I probably would have given this a try , I have a cv life but it's on my pcp , again thank you for the great channel
@@peterconnor4193 My pleasure Peter. Those UTG scopes are tanks. It should hold up well. I know what you mean about thick crosshairs. It does interfere with precision shooting.
Theobens employ a gas ram system, which is adjustable. With the proper air pump and adaptor, the pressure in the gas ram can be adjusted either up or down in order to increase or decrease the output of the rifle. Mine is set at 25 ft lbs. I don't currently own the tools required to adjust the pressure in the ram, so it stays at 25 ft lbs for now. Thanks for watching, my friend.
It actually does it one better, Bill. It has a side focus knob on the left side of the saddle. There are aftermarket "wheels" that clamp around the knob and provide a much wider diameter, which is more precise and much easier to adjust the parallax. Here's an example. However, it is not the correct one for the scope in the video. It's just to illustrate the concept. : www.ebay.com/itm/134018432030?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=mCWEsqdJSEO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=9snzD4fsS6u&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Thanks for watching, my friend.
Good catch. I completely forgot to revisit that issue. Since completing the video, I discovered that the dial was simply very stiff and rather difficult to move. After a couple of clicks, it became much easier to turn. Thanks so much for watching, my friend.
Good to see your back sir,was worried that a saber toothed bambi might have got you lol. Im in the market for a scope for my gamo varmint, would you recomend the cv life brand? Thanks
Hello, my friend. I've had very little experience with this brand other than the scope in the video. I don't know if I'd put out $330 for a scope for a Varmint, although it would certainly be nice. Consider the Hammers line of springer rated scopes. I've had good luck with these on many springers, and they are affordable. My only complaint is that the crosshairs run a little thick, which makes precise shooting difficult. Excellent choice for plinking or hunting, though.
Hi Kevin! Can I ask what rings did you get for this? I am getting into HFT and I have been using my Diana 350 Magnum. Been using a Hawke Air Max, been easily over 1,000 rounds with the scope and it works fine, but its walking on me. What would you recommend?
BKL... They're expensive, but they stay put. I had to use BKL mounts, AND I added a scope stop for good measure on my FWB Sport. I've found SportsMatch mounts to be very good as well. Thanks for watching, my friend.
@marcmyers1465 177 caliber with 10 grain JSB exact at 870 FPS giving me 17.3 ftlbs at the muzzle. The scope is Hawke Airmax 4-12x40AO. It's adjustable on the bell. I have been a long time hunter, but I'm just getting into HFT, so I did want to spend too much on a scope and not get into it. It used to have a Hammers on it, but I knew I needed something a little nicer. The reason why I chose the Diana 350 is because it's the most accurate air rifle I have.
@@bobdefiglio2.045Your most obvious choice is the BKL-260 D7. 😉 This is their MOST Solid C-mount, with the added benefit of droop compensation, and the 350M is a drooped format. The Airmax 4-12×40 has exactly 4.7 inches of internal space, and the mount is exactly 4" long, allowing precisely enough space for the scope to be perfectly centered between the radiused junctions of the mag ring and objective bell making it a clinically perfect fit leaving the rings well away from the reticle assembly. Pretty much a Rock Solid lifetime mount for these particular rifle and scope. 🤓👍
I've watched your uploads in the past and enjoyed them, but I have to admit from what you say here or don't say here , doesn't inform me as to whether it would hold up to a springer or not. If you mounted it on a heavily recoiling piston gun such as your Eliminator I could glean some meaning from that. A box test after the 200 round break in would also inform. Here as tested I wouldn't be comfortable making a purchase with so little useful information.
Hi Tom. I wasn't trying to sell you a scope. While I think that installing it on the Eliminator would be the ultimate test, in my opinion, it wouldn't be fair to the CVLife folks. I put it on a rifle that develops 14 ft/lbs. I think that that's a fair test. Other than the scope creep issue (which isn't surprising with a 2lb scope), it held up for more than 200 shots, as I mentioned in the video, and it's still doing fine. My intent was never to sell you a scope. My intent was to evaluate it and then to carry out the requests of the CVLife people. That was to unbox, to show the view through the scope as well as the field of view at various ranges and to shoot a few shots while viewing through the scope. From there, I gave my impressions, and that was that. I'm sorry if you didn't find the video helpful. I sincerely appreciate your viewership and your feedback. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Did I say you were trying to sell it to me or anyone else? I was simply disappointed you didn't put it through its paces. Would you have bought it based on what little information your own review provided? I've seen over the top scope reviews where the reviewer dropped the scope on the pavement, into a swimmng pool and then put it into a refrigerator. I wasn't expecting that, but a simple box test mounted to a hard recoiling gun is not too much to ask. Your concern for CV Life should be secondary to the concern that you have for your viewers that's all.
@tomcamarda4941 This is exactly why I was hesitant to accept to do the video. Again, I'm sorry that you didn't find the video useful. You've pretty much convinced me that my gut feeling was right. Running ads on my channel doesn't come close to meeting the expense in time, ammo, or equipment that I invest in the channel. I'm not doing this to get rich. I do it because of my enthusiasm for the subject matter and because I enjoy the positive feedback. Fortunately, the positive far outweighs the negative. The cool thing about RU-vid is that it's free. Which begs the proverbial question, "What-d-ya' want for nothing?". I've apologized for disappointing you twice now. I trust that we can consider this matter closed.
15:41 How much exactly do you know about the Theoben gas rams ? Theoben scope mounts are posted and screwed directly to the receiver like older HP rifles, so going out and finding those mounts is 10× harder than finding a decent old Theoben Eliminator... 😣 Finding 30mm mounts as such is about another 20× harder... 😖 Good Luck finding 34mm mounts for a Theoben. 😉 Finding the original Steel riser posts to fit a 56mm Objective... 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ ALL "Informed" Springer Airgunners share you obvious Concerns...
