A special thanks to Jason LaRose for his work in creating the Pellets And Pistons logo as well as my intro.
Very nice review. I was saving my pennies to buy an hw95 and I think you saved me a lot if those pennies in leaning towards purchasing this gem instead
Nice rifle! At that weight, with that muzzle brake, classic Trophy scope and especially with the gold trigger, yours is nearly an homage to the Beeman R9 Goldfinger from the 90's. Shoots like one too! 👍
great video my friend you have sold me on it. Thanks for commenting on my on my post over on Ricks channel about this air rifle I will be definitely picking on eup for sure.
Thanks Kevin I think in a senior moment I credited the Fenix to Norica some weeks ago in a comment. I have owned my Fenix 400 star at least ten years now and it was second hand when I purchased it at auction. Like you I was very impressed with this gun and have sung it's praises ever since people look at me as if I am quite touched in the head shake their head and shuffle off muttering cheap Spanish rubbish cant be worth a dam. More fool them non so blind as them that wont see.. Dan of Big Dans Airguns tells me he gets the same response, he has a review of this gun on his channel. My gun is a coil spring version in .22 not pellet fussy but loves JSB's and wad cutters.Strangely I was putting a few pellets through it yesterday, it is such a satisfying gun to shoot. Not sure there is much to add to your report really , the piston in mine had not been deburred prior to hardening and needed dressing. and it is worth experimenting with piston seals I run a TX200 genuine piston seal in mine. This gun is ripe for tuning and custom parts and in my opinion thoroughly deserves such. , but nobody listens to silly old buggers like me.
Thanks Kevin, my Cometa Fusion is the most accurate gun I own bar none even with it's plastic trigger it outshoots all my others, luckily I'm not a gun snob. Personally (my taste) I think most of their other guns are ruined by huge ugly foresights (ditto Diana) but the Fusion and 400 USC escape this. They are a long established company who make their own cold forged barrels and deserve a bit more publicity. Anyone getting the chance to use one will not regret it, and they aren't expensive, try one.
You remind me of Captain Louis P. Wise, Fort Jackson S.C. 1969.He taught sight picture and trigger squeeze. It should be a complete surprise when the rifle fires he would say. That's meant to be a compliment.....Thank you!
I’m here .. good shooting Kevin , how is it on the shoulder ? I got a shot in mine no rotator cuffs but damage . My cat had to put down very sick .. what a week
Good review. Breathtaking trigger pressure. Strange that this brand and Norica with their latest Omnia ZRS cannot get a foothold here in my country and in my neighboring country, the Netherlands. In addition to Gamo in particular, it is no problem for us to have Diana. Weihrauch, Crosman, Umarex, Aracuda, Daisy, Bsa, and other brands that appear on American reviews. And upon inspection, this Cometa with wooden stock is not pricey according to European standards. But I am especially jealous of your high shooting spot and ditto bench with a breathtaking view of nature that is gradually reaching its peak. I can even imagine the sweet oxygenated air. Lucky boy, that's for sure.
Hi, how are you doing? Can you please help me out, I have a Diana 45 old model with the metal trigger and I’m looking for the Tun up kit, thank you for your help 👋👍
I would love to shoot an FAC air rifle, sadly for anything over 12 fps in the uk we need a fire arms certificate 🤷♂️. Given the choice of an FAC air rifle I would have to choose the webley patriot I’ve always wanted one
I had a great time watching this video, your a great shooter Kevin!, I just ordered the same Beeman R-7 today...That wind has been terrible all winter long, and this spring as well.
You'll feel forever indebted to me for the recommendation once you have that little gem in your hands. Not to worry. I give advice for free because that's what it's worth. 😂
The Czechs make excellent firearms and air rifles and the Slavia is no exception. A twäng can be heard but that doesn't detract from the fun. Oh man, I love the channel and can only hope it lives on forever.
Weihrauchs generally do buzz right out of the box. Typically, it gets better as the rifle breaks in. Someday, down the road, you could always install a tune kit to eliminate that buzz altogether. Thanks for watching, my friend.
So today I just ordered a hw95 field pro with a walnut stock , I will have to make it 12fpe in the not to distant future, vortek or arh kit what would you go with ?
@peterconnor4193 I've had good luck with both Vortek and ARH. A good friend who I consider to be a wealth of knowledge on the topic of springers leans towards ARH. ARH: www.airrifleheadquarters.com/page/page/251327.htm Vortek: vortekproducts.com/
And I have a question for you regarding your T05 trigger (I think I read in the comments here your rifle was manufactured in 2004, so I think it has the T05 trigger but I could be mistaken)… have you tried tightening the trigger adjustment screw all the way down, and then loosen the adjustment screw by one and 7/8ths turns? I ask because I didn’t notice a distinct second stage in your 34 .177 videos. If you loosen the trigger adjustment screw by one and 3/4’s turns you should have a very noticeable second stage and a very light final stage.
Thanks. I actually took that very rifle out for a spin just last night. I brought a slender screwdriver to the bench with me. I noticed that the adjustment screw. ( Yes, TO5 trigger, BTW) was tightened all of the way down. I backed ut out a couple of turns and tried it. No second stage. From there, I gradually tightened the screw in small increments until there was a solid wall at the 2nd stage. This made the trigger much better and with less pressure on the trigger required to fire the rifle. Thanks for watching, my friend.
@@razor1962that's awesome! I found a post on some airgun forum talking about the T05 trigger and how to adjust it and one guy mentioned just turning it until you feel the second stage become distinct and adjust tighter or looser to your preference. I've seen posts saying that it doesn't adjust the weight of the pull but it changes the pivot point for the trigger release which makes it feel lighter.
I didn’t know really anything about the Diana 34 I bought around the year 2008 except that it was German made, beautiful blueing, decent trigger, and accurate out of the box. Then I found your channel and I discovered “tuning kits.” I took a deep dive into this disassembly video and then bought the high output spring kit from ARH, and the Air Ventauri spring compressor tool from Pyramyd Air… and today I finally got around to installing the tune kit. Disassembly/reassembly and firing testing was a success. My 34 doesn’t have the spring twang and it cocks quieter and smoothly. Awesome. Thanks so much for making this great tutorial. If I could “like” and “subscribe” a thousand times I would.
That's awesome news! So thrilled to hear that you were able to put the video to good use. A gun kit like Jim's will completely transform a rifle. Enjoy, my friend.
I’ve recently bought a hw30 And I have to say it’s a lot of fun and hard to put down, thanks for the advice on the tuning kit I’m gonna contact wicked willy to see if he does a tuning kit for the hw,
Great! I'm glad that you're pleased with the rifle. It's hard not to be pleased. Such a delightful little rifle. I'm not familiar with the maker of the kit that you mentioned, so I can't offer any advice there. Best of luck on the tune. Be sure to check back and fill us in on the results. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Im pretty sure that your piston seal is a leather one. Im not sure what your options are if that's the case. Try Jim Macari at Air Rifle Headquarters: www.airrifleheadquarters.com/page/page/251327.htm Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the answer I looked at the website and they said they have the kit for the 45 but not for the old ones like the trigger metal like mine so it looks like it’s not easy to find it, thank you for your videos 👍
Both are indeed excellent guns. So much so that the QB78 is the second attempt to recreate the legendary Crosman 160 Air rifle. A Japanese Co. was making them under the name Taiyo Juki, and it was called the Bobcat. I believe that it was in the eighties. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Agreed. I will always admire a gun that relies upon metal ( preferably steel) and wood. I don't dislike synthetics, and I understand that there are advantages, but for me, wood will always be the only choice as long as there is one. There's no denying the quality of some other great piston gun manufacturers who employ plastic sparingly and safely. I won't let a little plastic stop me from being interested in a gun, but a gun with no plastic will almost always sell me on it.
Hey Kevin, I have an HW97 .20 cal with a vortek PG4 HO kit in it. & I am only getting 702 fps for it. I am using JSB Match Diablo Exacts 13.73gr. I was thinking this is kinda low... I was wondering did you put a tune kit in you HW97 .22 cal, & what is are your fps results for it? By the way, I love the army men I see the kid in you come out when your shooting them... Thanks James
Hi James. My 97 is spittin' l4.66 gr H&N FTTs at an average of 717, which translates to 16.7 ft/lbs Your numbers give 15 ft/lbs. That's a difference of 1.7 ft/lbs. It does seem slightly low. However, If the rifle shoots straight, I wouldn't be too concerned. Have a good look at your breech seal and replace it if it looks at all damaged or worn. Thanks for watching, my friend.
You're not the first to mistake it for a Viscount or an Osprey. However, in this more recent video, I touch on the longer barrel and then show a shot of the factory stamp, which reads " Webley Tracker." I'm beginning to think that somewhere along the line, someone swapped barrels from a Viscount or Osprey. Your guess is as good as mine.🙂 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wXPvKmP8Uzk.htmlsi=VWZsfGLhC8InxpBB
I mainly focus on springers, but I have to admit that there are a couple of SSPs that interest me. For example, I'd love to get my hands on a FAS 604 target pistol. There's just something about that pistol that attracts me. Thanks for watching, my friend.
If you can swing it without impacting anything and it's your dream rifle, I say go for it. As far as I know, we only get one go around on this ride... Can't go wrong with a Hawke Airmax. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Nice rifle if a little basic. Solid and reliable. Best part? There is no plastic to speak of on the gun. Only the thumb piece on the barrel release is plastic. For me, that always gets my attention. Thanks for watching.
It looks like an enjoyable rifle to shoot, the stock appears to be leaning towards a 'target style' with the deeper forend and steep pistol grip. Getting the best groups possible from a rifle with a less than perfect trigger is part of the fun.
Hands down, the R7. The Rekord trigger alone makes the R7 the clear winner. However, the 631 is a solid, no-nonsense air rifle. It works, and it works well. Its trigger is very rudimentary, consisting of a single lever. The trigger and the sear are one in the same. But we're comparing two different price points. I really appreciate guns, which employ as little plastic as possible in their construction. Wood and steel, please. Both guns fit that bill. Both guns get my attention. Thanks for watching, my friend.
You got me into these Weihrauch springers so I came back for more. BTW - Clausty's are the best non alcohol beer going, another good choice. You're doing what I like to do, just sit, plink and have a beer in the yard. My situation is a bit different since I have almost no foliaged, I'm really suburban/urban. So I turn on the TV with some football, basketball, or golf ....have a beer and plink mostly with my HW30 & HW50. That's my idea of multi-tasking. Oh ya when I'm done then take a nap. A perfect day!
Great that you got those German pistols, I've got the later model 10, it's my favourite pistol, bit of a beast at 1400g and got the earlier FWB 65, this was the pistol that knocked the model 10 off the top slot, 200g lighter makes a difference over a match. I believe the FWB 80 was more target oriented than the 65 by dropping the feature of increasing the trigger pull from 500g to something like 1500g for firearm pistol training( there is a hole on the underside to put a bar or Allen key in to move a lever) Also did they put an extra spring inside the standard spring on the 80?? My 65 is very low powered, about 2.9 foot pounds after a rebuild. As far as accuracy goes, I've shot them back to back against each other and against my modern Styre Lp10 at 10m indoors, modern pistol yes a bit more accurate but not by much, against each other, nothing in it, I'd just say for a smaller person over a 60 shot match plus sighters the FWB would have it because of the lighter weight and lower cocking effort of the side lever. Cant wait for the vids 🙂
Hopefully, I won't disappoint. I'm am absolutely terrible with a pistol. Nevertheless, I enjoy them, so I like to keep a few in the collection. Both of these guns are going to need a rebuild, but those will be other videos. Thanks for watching.
These CZs are really good rifles, not as good as the HW55 or HW35. I had a CZ 631 that, like the 631 of a friend of mine and many others, had a barrel drop.
I have a meteor super in .22 cal. I've removed the open sights. Added a harmonic turner to the barrel. I installed the trigger upgrade screw from airgun detective. I was initially very disappointed with this rifle. The trigger is now superb. Very crisp let off. With the harmonic tuner the groups are now ragged holes at 25yds. Down from 2-3 inches. It's now one of my favorite break barrels.
