I started watching your series from the first video. Bike is great so far and you're a fellow listener of 105.7 The Point! I'm from Central IL but always listen to The Point when I'm in that area.
Great stuff, loving this build...I'm in the middle of a CX500 build too, not quite the same approach or style but doing quite a lot of the same jobs which you are doing. I loved cutting off the useless unsightly part of my frame too as I am going to switch to disc brakes on the back too. I would like to just mention one thing...a trick to that slightly curved bend you make in that tray. A neat way to do it is to cut a piece of tube clamp on the mark you made in the middle and bend the sheet...that way the metal will naturally take the radius of the pipe. Keep up the content, I wish I had the patience to build my bike and film the process.
You need a Harbor Freight 20 ton press,....you lay 2 pieces of flat metal down and put like a 1/2 inch round bar where you want your bend put magnets on both sides then jack the press on it.
It may be easier to clamp a piece of pipe along your bend line to help radius the bend. Same set up, just put the pipe in place of the soft jaws. You may have to tack on a bit of flat bar to keep the pipe from moving under the clamp if you use the screw type C-clamps.
Appreciate the input Rod. The radius was so large it would have been a 6 inch diameter pipe which I didn't have so the aluminum angle was an easy choice. They were already the correct length too.
Brick House Builds For sure. Take a look on the website : www.masolise.fr 6 years that i’m using it on all my bike and zero trouble. Track and road. The best solution to save space...
