Cyber Shadow Nintendo Switch Review - Is It Worth It? 

I’m currently playing this on Gamepass and I’m loving it, just gets better as you progress

Love that companies are continuing to make 8bit games. If you like Shovel Knight this is a definite buy.

This game is fantastic. $15.00 for 10 hours of gameplay isn't an outstanding request.

The fact that you guys didn't put this out immediately after the review embargo went up says a lot about your commitment to quality.

Besides the similarities with the Ninja Gaiden games, the level aesthetics remind me a bit of the NES version of Batman too. It looks great!!

I hope there will be a physical version of this game.

I'm personally reminded of 'Shadow of the Ninja' from the NES, and now NSO service.

I predict more game creators making ninja gaiden games in the future after seeing how well The Messenger and this game sells.

Appreciate this review and the frame of reference to The Messenger. I loved the messenger and I think I would enjoy the differences of this game as well

Reminds me of the old Ninja Gaiden, will pick this up. Haven't played a retro-style game since Katana Zero and that one is awesome!

High quality video game no doubt. Maybe one day, when I have beaten the Ninja Gaiden NES games.

Only 10 hours of gameplay... I'm easily over 16 hours and still got 2 chapters to go... Man, I suck. Fantastic game though loving every minute, I'll be feeling a massive sense of achievement after this one.

The use of sub weapons, like the canon or the shield, feels like it was influenced by Shatterhand on NES

I wish it eased you into the difficulty a little bit. The jumping and flying enemies right off the bat are intense. It's fun though. Just ran through the first level.

Visually as well as gameplay wise, this is extremely similar to Shatterhand on the NES.

Messenger is probably one of my all time favorite video games but I’ve never been a fan of the very inconsistent difficulties of metroidvanias and how that game got pretty easy later on since you could just damage boost through challenges that should’ve been hard. Now a challenging game like that WITH robots?!? I’m in. Great review Zion!

This game rocks. It's literally like Ninja Gaiden and Megaman had a baby robot ninja. It's not Megaman hard though. Not like Megaman 1-3 anyway. More like X or the more recent 9 and 10 in difficulty. I am at the area where the video started as of this morning. Looking forward to playing it all the way through.

My only complain is that you can’t crouch down

Took me about 14.5 hours for 100%, and that was with some trophy hunting on the boss fights as well. I love this game. It has the aspects of some of my favorite NES games: Shadow of the Ninja, Ninja Gaiden 2 and 3, and Batman. The music will stay with you for days. I also played and thoroughly beat The Messenger, and while I enjoyed that game (especially the writing), I like Cyber Shadow more.

Game is great. Hard AF, but great.

Awesome game but the last levels are a tad too demanding for me. Maybe needs simpler controls or esay mode? Anyway, its a great game! :D

This reminds me so much of The Messenger and that is one of my most favorite games of all time. Will defo play this in the future.

Cyber Shadow is basically the indie equivalent of Cyberpunk 2077. -Both games came out around the same time. -Both were cyberpunk games published by companies already known for iconic fantasy game series (Shovel Knight, The Witcher). -Both either were missing anticipated features or withheld them for much of the game. -Both turned out to be a lot more linear than the marketing implied. -Both got similar, mediocre, user reception. So how much better this game is is a pretty indication of the sad state AAA is in compared to indie gaming.

I 100% the game (not feat just power up) without any guide took me 12 hours. But I agree this game need a New Game + or a Hard mode. Or maybe I just rerun the game without getting the check point upgrade.

So a messager 2 I will take it

Ninja gaiden

Game is really getting trashed in reviews on XBox Live. People just have no appreciation for a game like this, apparently. There are some valid reviews but there's a lot of "Wow, 1 Star, GamePass has really gotten bad with these 2d retro games. Leave them in the past."

I think Cyber Shadow IS Like the Messenger and the Messenger IS Like Nina gudian and Ninja gudian IS Like Ehhhh

First having played a lot of 8 bit games they only look like this with nostalgia glasses, but yes it is a pretty game it looks fun and I will eventually get it due to the Shovel Knight tie in but getting a little tired of these Metroidvania/Rogue-like games, most don’t add anything new for the most part. But what do I know I still like turn based RPGs.

NO! NO! NO! Ninja Gaiden IS NOT where Cyber Shadow draws its' greatest inspiration from. Am I the only one that ever played Shadow of the Ninja and Shatterhand from Natsume?

The game started good and had some nice first few levels...then the balancing isn't really there anymore and cheap enemy placement takes over unfortunately and makes it unfair and frustrating. There is a great game hidden in this, but there is too much NES-asshole-leveldesign still left unfortunately. I prefer "The Messenger" by a lot.

Bought it on switch, then I realised it was included on Gamepass 🤦🏾‍♂️ Honestly underwhelming after having played The Messenger, both on gameplay and story. And charm, and level design, and music. Some clever stuff, and it's a quality game. But I'll forget it when I'm done, which I almost am.

There is nothing sacred about old game design, It's just old. I'm all for a challenge but this looks hard for the sake of being hard and it just looks more annoying to play then fun.

This game is so bad god damn. There's so much padding to keep the game from being insanely short. Like the mechanics are so anti player I ended up thinking this game was a f you to the player. Your HP bar is hilarious since pretty much everything does at least 2 bars hahaha. Like why not just have the HP bar smaller and most stuff deal one. Your invincibility period is so slim you will get pushed into 1 shot spikes countless times. Now some of you are gonna just say urrr get good bro. Sure, but a lot of this game is built on you dying and learning. Problem is the checkpoints are so poorly spaced that you'll have to go through a long sequence that's piss easy and tedious just to get to the part where you are having difficulty platforming. At one point I had a checkpoint before an area with a mini boss and after you've beaten it, there's just a long empty hallway you have to run through over and over. It takes like 10 seconds just to get to the enemies. I think it's pretty funny you said the checkpoints are smartly laid out when they're some of the worst I've experienced. I've got a couple chapters to go and I just beat an area where I went through a tough platforming section and saw a secret wall, I break it and there's an unreactable enemy that bounces me into a spike pit. That's when I realised the devs were just laughing at me. I've played a lot of tough platforms, I've beaten the path of pain, messenger, celeste, etc. I'm not someone who usually has much difficulty platforming but man this game is such wasted potential. I don't find it fun to be janked by an enemy into a spike pit or frame trapped by another incoming projectile. Only reason I'm still playing is because I spent money on this shit and I'm broke
