To me, only 3 of them are particularly interesting. Sylux, Weavel and Trace (maybe if Noxus is included as well). But yes, they all have potential and need more to them.
@@ThatMetroidGuy I disagree, I think all 6 of them have a lot of potential based on the cool backgrounds alone that we're already given. There's a lot Samus could sympathize with for Spire as he basically becomes an archeologist looking for more traces of his lost people like her while taking bounties (I can see a mission where he helps Samus and then the Federation allows him to use their database to find more evidence on his lost race.) Kanden being a Supersoldier Bioweapon that took up Bounty Hunting after destroying his home has a lot of cool elements that can be borrowed from Horror/Science Fiction like Frankenstein and/or Terminator in regards to him learning more about existence as a whole and testing his own self-drive vs what he was created for. And Noxus as a lot of great philosophical potential in regards to how his harsh religious ideologies of good can clash with others in the Galaxy. Making for a likely but possibly rocky Ally that could begin to discuss what it means to be "Good and Evil."

Ok what if: Weevil was the RED space pirate who jumped on Samus' stolen ship at the end of Zero Mission? He would have been blown out of the Mother Ship's blast radius, and the grey could just be from the cybernetics(or maybe that breed of pirate just change color all the time idk)
Metroid Prime Hunters holds so much potential to expand the series' lore. An expansionist empire looking to acquire Metroids for themselves, a human bounty hunter that hates the Federation, a cyborg Space Pirate with abilities that somewhat mirror Samus'...
I don't think Weavel would take on a commanding presence like that. I feel like Weavel would be more of a loyalist type towards the people who essentially saved his life, so he'd be sort of a tool for Ridley's desires. Conflict between Sylux and Weavel is still possible by wanting to both attack and crush the federation, primarily Weavel doing so to get at Samus while Sylux wants to steal GF tech. Since Weavel can be rather overwhelming with his splitting ability, he can bully Sylux away for short times to get his chance.
This made me think of how cool it would be if a Metroid game had a factioning system like Pandemic's (RIP) Mercenaries series. Imagine if there were multiple warring Pirate clans, other Merc companies or even crooked Feds with which you could mingle or manipulate. There could be alot of replay value.
It would give interesting explanations to the different designs and such of the Pirates, even going to far as saying there are many species of the grunt Space Pirates. It would also be interesting if Ridley was the only reason why the factions either co-operated or didn't fight, because Ridley would quell any fights with ease. I view Ridley as kind of the king of the pirates, the only thing that made it a threatening force. It would also be great for a real-time strategy game, like Star Wars: Empire at War, Halo Wars, Command & Conquer and so on. That's another idea that I want to delve into. Metroid has so much potential as a franchise. Nintendo just needs to do things about it.
That, unfortunately, would require "Bounty Hunter" to actually mean what it means. Nintendo specifically forbids Samus from working as a mercenary, having envisioned her as a knight errant/adventurer hero instead.
Oddly enough I always saw Ridley as a bit of a parellel as a what if Starscream was actually in command. Ridley has been shown to be intelligent and seemingly even helped in scientific evdeavors, is shown to be dishonorable, is a flyer, and seemingly never dies. These are all traits of Starscream naturally. Though I suppose Ridley's loyalty to mother brain in the manga doesn't really allign with that characterzation.
Besides Sylux, Weevil is definitely a top pick for hunters to return in future games. Aside from Ridley and Dark Samus, he's the only major Space Pirate leader to appear outside of Zebes. If hunters get's remade, I want him to bring a small pirate force to the alymbic cluster with him. The pirates are smart enough not to send just one guy.
Man, it would be great if the Bounty Hunters from MPH get to return to the franchise. Weavel was my favorite Hunter for Multiplayer, and it's the one I want to learn the most from, align with Kanden
Interesting. I always imagined Ridley would take a special interest in Weavel, being sympathetic to his plight (given it’s been implied that, despite the combat advantages, Ridley doesn’t actually _like_ being a cyborg; or, if nothing else, that one scan in _Prime 1_ explicitly saying that Ridley’s surgery was hugely painful certainly gave me that impression, and I can’t really think of any other reason why he would opt to go full organic by the time of _Super_ instead). Maybe even taking Weavel on as a protégé or something. I dunno. I remember reading somewhere that Weavel didn’t exactly like not having his original body anymore either. I know I’m probably wishing for the impossible here, but I do hope we get more of Weavel at some point. He’s really cool imo.
hopefully sylux shakes up the simple "good guys good, bad guys bad" thing in prime 4, considering we know the federation isn't as heroic as previously thought
It would be great to see him even try and convince Samus that the Federation is not good, putting his personal grudge for her aside just to try and get the word out that the organisation is corrupt. Him being in the grey-area will be very interesting and even Samus may start to doubt some things, but it would be Sylux's methods of sharing the knowledge that keeps her doubtful of his goal.
Weavel is strange for a number of reasons but one of them is that he looks visually almost knight like and kind of carries himself that way too. Perhaps it’s his experience and will to survive. Maybe it’s relevant to planning around his role that has so far went unused. The fact that his description words his plans for the ultimate power in hunters as ambiguous definitely seems to me like he’s either self serving or at least not as loyal to the pirates as you’d expect. Sylux may be the star but Weavel would still be an incredible addition to any new games
Back in the days of Metroid Prime Hunters pvp, Weavel started becoming very popular near the end of its run, to the point of being used as a main by many of the pros, and he was even used in clan wars. His lore and unique playstyle was a point of pride for people as opposed to using Sylux/Trace/Samus who were overpowered in comparison. Most of the appeal of Weavel was due to his lore though. It's a shame he hasn't returned, nor has Sylux.
Weavel was from a special unit of Space Pirates. He was likely one of the Gray Space Pirates Samus encounters in Zero Mission. Sylux would likely want to kill him for being a Pirate as well as a threat to his plans.
I always wondered this are there humans in the space pirate's we never see them in gameplay but just because we can't see them doesn't mean they're not there right?
Idk i really dont like to believe the same guy who faced samus on her fully Upgraded power suit, and Sylux a very powerfull bounty hunter is actually a coward, if he tries to Conspire against ridley, the cunning god of death himself he obiously has the balls to face any other situation
While that would be interesting to explore, I have my doubts that’s canonically viable for now, given the incredibly rigid and cruel hierarchy that it’s soldiers are sometimes literally born to serve. Where does a human have room in something like that? I will, however, admit it sounds like an interesting idea to explore.
I like your theories for the hunters in general. There's just one miss in this one for me. I don't like changing the location that the battle between Weavel and Samus happened at because that gives less time for Weavel to become the badass he is meant to be. I think Brinstar makes sense as he could have been any of the ones you fight during the game. Samus would have fatally wounded him then another space pirate may have come upon Weavel's dying body and managed to get him back to the space pirate labs to be revived and turned into a super soldier. I think Weavel would have needed plenty of time to recover from his injuries, his surgeries, train and prove himself with his changes and enhancements. The pirates may have sent him out to do solo missions given his capabilities and that's why he wouldn't be around during later events, and is why he has his own ship. There may still be enough time for all this even if it is moved to fusion but I think the more time for him to improve the better.
