Thank you for your post. We are booked to stay there next spring. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the area. Since it’s in the red light district. What is your opinion of the location. Thank you!
If you want to stay in a rowdy and wild area with lots of nightlife, crowded streets, the world's busiest train station, tall buildings with tons of signage, sex clubs/bars, host/hostess bars, love hotels, etc. then Kabukicho and the surrounded area are for you. It can be very tiring, especially if those types of things aren't your style and you enjoy peace and quiet. Some people like that kind of thing, though. They like the excitement and feel of a lively, crowded city. The same goes for the Shibuya area. You can stay in a ton of other areas that are just as accessible from the JR Yamanote Line circle around central Tokyo with a much more peaceful vibe and less chaos. I think it's fun to experience Shinjuku's Kabukicho area for just a short time, whether it's at night and just walking through there and the Golden Gai bar alleys nearby, or in the day time and see it with less people (it will still be busy). My personal recommendation is stay anywhere else and it'll be more comfortable. I hope this helps! Also, if you do go to Shinjuku, don't go to Robot Restaurant. The owner is a Nazi lover and literally held a Nazi-themed party. Just Google it and you'll see the pics and articles about it.
I was stationed at Yokota Air Base back 2005 remember going Hard Rock by Godzilla statue. I love it if u go to area around Yokota Air Base bring back memories.
I think the building sandwich is art. At first no, but then you think about all the parts of life people lose when their homes collapse, physically or metaphorically, and it was quite sad. Evokes emotion = art. To me anyway lol. I wonder if it's called floor 17 because of Jam 17, not because of how many floors it has.
Wow! The last time I was in Tokyo back in 2018 this was much smaller. Called Shinjuku VR Zone. An arcade for VR games! I loved this place, and a bit sad to see it gone. But very happy to see what has replaced it!
Yeah that place closed in 2019 so the building construction could begin on that section. The part to the right of VR Zone was already under construction since 2016. Hope you can come back and visit the new place!
Excellent video. Even at the quiet time where you filmed, the place is pretty much my idea of hell on earth 😱 I've watched VJs vid that he made when it was busy, just watching that made me stressed and claustrophobic :D
