Cycling 1000 Miles Through Vietnam (4K Film) 

Great to see you in VN ! Couple of suggestions: 1. Change to tubes - every 500m there is a motorcycle repair shop that will fix your tube, has a compressor pump 2. Avoid all roads called QL (Quoc Lo = highway of death) 3. 5am is a great time to ride if you decide to visit VN at the hottest time of the year (Dec/Jan is better) 4. Fake bike frames in VN are more common than real ones, esp v high end fakes (Ferrari?) 5. Wear a full Hazmat suit in Hanoi/cities - air pollution is a teeny problem Head south and to the mountains for best riding in the world, with lovely people who will welcome you

So glad you stitched all this together, what a great watch! I was in Vietnam in January this year, and we covered off a lot of the same destinations. my wife and I rode some of the same roads so there were loads of “we rode there!” moments. But of course we were on busted up hotel loaner bikes. They still made it through and around all the rice paddies and dirt roads. And if the were any issues, there was never a shortage of locals volunteering to help out!😀 Top destination, and you did it proud!

love it. Did exactly this in the early 2000s albeit with a few detours over 2 months, spent 3 days on a boat around Ha Long bay and got a ferry over to Phu Quoc in the end after some time at my mates house in HCMC. The Nam has definitely change in 20 years, a lot more westernised, but still a beautiful place, more paved roads now, and the people are just one of a kind! Excellent work chaps. where to next? New Zealand South Island Tour!!!! . . .full clockwise lap starting at Christchurch > Dunedin > Invercargill > Queenstown > Haast Pass/Haast > West Coast Road to Greymouth > Abel Tas > Queen Charlotte > Marlborough > Kaikoura > Christchurch...nothing else like it!

Hi Francis, I am half way thru your Vietnam film. Chapeau to all 3 of you. What memories you have created with your best pals... Highs and Lows... and in fact its the lows that make the highs even better. I have not done any bikepacking, although done lots of Motorcycle adventures around Europe. They were great, however the cycling format is much more tangible with the places you travel thru for sure. Looking forward to the rest of Vietnam film, a special interest to em as I am going there back packing in the new year.... can't wait to watch the Malaysia and America films next... Oh and superb production, the combination of Slow Motion and the music is brilliant.

I went to Vietnam in 1996. To this day it was the best place in South East Asia I have ever been. Magic place. I still don’t understand why you guys bikes with much bigger tire clearance! Would definitely help with the punctures that you suffered!
