Bicycle Trip through central Japan, from the outskirts of the Tokyo area, around MT Fuji, down to the bottom of Izu, up through Hakone and the Yabitsu Pass, and back home to Sagamihara, Kanagawa Japan.
With all of Japanese Mountains we passed on our bike tour, we climbed the same elevation as if summiting Mt. Everest!
It was hot & tough, we may have sweat out more water than we actually peed, and we were drinking at least 2 gallons a day! But it was glorious!
* Day 1 we stopped in Fujinomiya, Fuji (83 miles), passing along 4/5 of the Kawaguchiko 5 Great Fuji Lakes and stopping at Shira Ito Falls. [Avg: 10.2mph / Max: 43mph] [Moving Time: 8.11hrs / Total Time: 12.05hrs]
* Day 2 we stopped at Shimoda, Izu (89 miles), biking through beautiful rice paddies, beaches, coastline and mountains. [Avg: 11.1mph / Max: 34mph] [Moving Time: 7.32hrs / Total Time: 13.13hrs]
* Day 3 we stopped at Hakone (67 miles), enjoyed an awesome outdoor onsen “Amagiso” and the seven waterfalls of central Izu in the morning, and a private sulfur onsen in Hakone in the evening. We also got to try the famous fresh Wasabi Soba Noodles of Izu. [Avg: 9.6mph / Max: 37mph] [Moving Time: 7.04hrs / Total Time: 15.07hrs]
* Day 4 we arrived back home (53 miles) very hilly journey home through Yabitsu Pass . [Avg: 10.2mph / Max: 42mph] [Moving Time: 5.11hrs / Total Time: 10.18hrs]
