Amsterdam to Katwijk and then 140m up and 140m down? No way! The highest point you may have been would have been +30m and the lowest -6m or so. Oh, and some advice to people who want to do this trip: do it the other way round. That’ll give you the best chance to have the wind coming from behind you most of the time. A couple of hours cycling straight into a fresh breeze will quickly convince you of the soundness of this advice.
The elevation figures are cumulative climb and descent, as recorded by my tracker, not max/min elevation. Eastward would have been easier, but we were headed to England.
we would like to see not just the cycling, but als: preparing food, do shopping , the tent and how it"s bild up and putting up the tent, e love to see that
i, am going soon, from den haag to duinkerk, almost the seem route, did you have good camping /tent space on your way? if it is possibel , can you put some here? i am biking on my own, for the first time , and i love to do that, but it is also a bit : scarry, and, strange to go (for me ) so far
Here are the places we stayed on that section: Molecaten Park Waterbos, Minicamping Hoeve het Tij, Camping Memling Brugge, Camping Kindervreugde. Hope you have a great trip!
Awesome video! Loved seeing my hometown of Haarlem featured in your journey. I must say, that this trip has inspired me to do a similar trip in the future!
@@pedalpowerfamily And you have it in any direction ;p Our parents always say: your not made of sugar and hop i had to cycle 16km to school and back in the rain with headwind allways haha
Born nearby Vlissingen and living nearby Rockanje …I saw you enjoyed our cycle patch in The Netherlands. Next year the other side of our country? Greetings from the Netherlands
Yes, our first thought was that we'd cover lots of distance each day compared to our time in the Alps, but the flat, smooth bike paths were definitely offset by the headwinds. Luckily we knew about the winds beforehand and planned accordingly.
Nice trip! I recognize a lot of bike paths. 6:30 interesting to see you took this ferry, most local people take the ferry from Maassluis, that one is 7 times cheaper
Good to know. I overlooked that one when planning the route. That would also explain why there were so few people on our ferry. But it was pretty cool to see the container ships being loaded and unloaded.
Lovely cycling along this coast. I've ridden in both directions many times - and it never disappoints. If you ever ride it again I'd ride down the river from Hoek van Holland to get the ferry between Maasluis and Rozenburg - that way you miss most of the more industrial Rotterdam Port area on the south bank of the estuary.
Lovely video. We’re cycling it in August. All your videos are fantastic. Have really enjoyed watching your European holiday. Always look forward to the next one. Thank you
@@pedalpowerfamily your routing along the North Sea helped us figure out how to get up that way coming from Bruges. Also, how are you able to pull off the repeated cycling vacation, do you live abroad?
We were often on bike paths away from cars on this leg of our journey but that wasn't always the case. My wife and I have both been saved by helmets in the past.
They weren't commuting from home to work, but on a long journey with a lot of bagage. Always keep safety in mind. Especially when cycling in Belgium with far lessers cycle infrastructure.
