For old times sake. A small compilation of the old Cylons. The new Cylon concept is crap and cheap. Cgi robots and sleazy bitches, Come on!!! Old Cylons rule !!!!
1. Make a mistake game over. 2. 1 makes a mistake the second can avoid still chance of success. 3. Nothing can possibly go wrong. Of course the show was written with the cylons losing but the logic is sound.
Must've been an edit somewhere because I had an audio recording of the show where the cylon said "I really think you should take a look at the other Battlestar.". Unless this is a "Mandela effect" occurring, I'm certain the line was different from what is here, plus this line sounds edited.
The old school cylons kicked ass and their voice was the ultimate scary thing. Contemporary kids probably don't get it, but in the 1970-80's this was cooler than anything else on TV.
@Floyd1504 Yes the "garbage" that still has a loyal fan base to this day despite only one season 43 years ago as opposed the dark, boring, humorless remake that was trying so hard to be dark, edgy and earnest that they forgot everything that made the original unique. For the record, the barely seen early 2000's Syfy CGI cylons have dated far worst then anything on here.
I think it's really cool the Cylons in the original are a machine race, yet each individual is unique with their own mind and personality rather than being a single unified group mind. You don't see that too much in science fiction.
@@WarringPacifist You mean in 7 years?Look for 2014 speech by Kurzweil. He is as awful as is Yuval Harari, psychopath is to nice to describe them. I read somewhere Cylons were reptiles and they destroyed their race because technology took them way too far. They yearned for imortality and got destroyed and transfered their soul into machines. Only the Imperious leaders were the original ones.
They were going to be a reptile race but in the 1980s that had censorship on how much actual killing they could show on TV so the cylons became a machine race . Bonus trivia question this time for star Trek the original series . Why did the transporter get written into the TV series ? Budget . It was deemed to expensive to do a shuttle landing every time a crew needed to go planet side .
Old BSG was so much better. The Cylons could actually talk, not to mention the TOS ships, Colonial or Cylon, looked so much better. The new Galactica looks like a floating junkyard, and the Basestars look absolutely laughable. I won't even go into the Vipers and Raiders. Pathetic, IMO.
Classic Galactica in the Game BattleStar Galactica:Deadlock (Which has Canon a story and ships for 2004 BSG) the Cylon BaseStars and the BattleStar Galactica ship models from this version are actually referenced in the game as The Artemis Class Light BattleStar and the Hades Class BaseStar.
Original is better. Cylons actually had identities and spoke and had energy based weapons. Reboot versions look like fake cgi and have no purpose except to serve this idiotic religion plot with human barbies. Originals were aliens reptilians that created the Cylons not humans >_
You know what's crazy? Back in 1979, this all seemed to be so far away as to be pure fantasy. But watching it now, nearly 40 years later in 2018, you can almost see how something like the Cylons could actually become real - _and it's not that far away this time..._
I remember as a little boy trying to make their voice talking into a large fan.. they are forever embedded in my soul and will go with me into the afterlife. By your command !
My grandma used to have a neighbor we called champ cause he was an old boxer, and he used to use a "Electrolarynx" we would tell him to say lines from the show and he would have a blast and even move around like a robot for us to make us all laugh..R.I.P "Champ"
By the time Baltar looks at it, the Pegasus was almost on top of them and he is screaming, 'Turn, you fool! Turn! Turn!' and his ship narrowly avoids colliding with the Pegasus.
I always love the scene Cylon: "Sir if I may." Baltar: "Not now. I don't want to miss a moment of the last battlestars destruction." Cylon: "Sir I really think you should look at the other battlestar." Baltar: "What are you blathering about." Looks Baltar dumbfounded: "That's impossible." Cylon: "No it is a battlestar." Baltar: "Well turn you fool he's coming straight for us." Such a classic. In many ways the original Cylons are much better than the spoilt child, religious fanatic organic Cylons of the reimagined series.
Cylon: "Sir, if I may?" Baltar: Not now! I don't want to miss a single moment of the last battlestars' destruction!" Cylon: "I 'Really' think you should look at the other battlestar." LOL!!! Classic!
Is it ok to get goosebumps when watching this clip? One of my earliest memories 🖤 Watched it with my dad. Cylons were ultimate bad ass and apart from their epic voices also the sounds of their fighters and battleships were awesome. Galactica cemented my love towards sci-fi.
I'm in my late 30s bit I agree the remake had some good points but it missed out on the food crisis that should of happened, "original did not" the fuel issue "again the original did not" and the old Cylons were clearly not made by human hands they were made too mimic Human function and form but they spoke moved and even fought like machines, closer too T-800 terminators from James Cameron years later in the 80s... the remake unfairly sexualized and added this bad torture habit and near ultra violent version of the universe it also made the Cylons a human creation which removed the threat that they were made by another race too mimic us, a race of lizard aliens called Cylons... they even removed the lasers on ships and lasers guns for bullet based weapons and missiles... and it had camera wiggle movement that made me almost nauseous... I much prefer the original series because it actually had aliens and lasers weapons on space ships, laser guns and was a true space epic and adventure not everything was about war politics and death and sex always the remake had too much sex and torture...
When they did the new one in the 2000s, they opted for computer-generated because they thought the old ones from '78 "looked like a guy in a suit." But I'm with you. I think the old Cylons look way better. Maybe the computer-generated ones would look better now, but '78 vs 2003, no contest.
Damn, i still get goosebumps because of this! The good old sennheiser vocoder! I remember watching this as a kid, it was a highlight of the week! Thanks mate!
Some of the older model cylon centurians appear during the galactica's assualt on the colony with several boarding the galactica and fighting some newer model rebel cylons though you dont here them speak. The only instance i cna think of where the older model's appear in the new franchise is in the Battlestar galactica razor movie where older model cylon's are guarding the first cylon hybrid (which resides in a proto-type of the newer model basestar) as well as some of adama's first cylon war flashback scenes ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XgH83IqL8T8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IfyNUhomMoU.html
Awesome! Thank you so much! I LOVE the way the old Cylons sounded! If I remember correctly, they were not just obeying robots, they were an alien species that their own minds, thoughts & reasoning.
Trixieb Beldon the reptilian Cylons made the robotic ones, and the Colonials kept the name. Apollo explained the original of the Cylons to Boxey in Saga of a Star World, pt 3. There's also a video on RU-vid that explains them.
They were produced by the same team and effects lead, John Dykstra, who worked on the OG "Star Wars." The motion control model effects were so expensive, the BSG producers had to keep reusing the same model shots over and over.
On that note, that's where they screwed up in the Avengers 2 movie. They gave Ultron a CGI mouth with lips; it looked rediculous and took away from the horror of the concept of Ultron.
@@Echo_Reyes I def wish they had an episode in the modern BSG with a Cylon from The OG War decades ago ... titled Echo & Silence ... The lone Cylon would look & sound like this... this Centurian would know & hate Admir. Will Adama ... be utilized by the modern Cylons to serve on one final mission... being secretly amongst the museum display pieces in storage in hybernation, placed by the modern Cylons as a "time bomb" assassin... activating after the Ressurection ship was destroyed... & somehow traping Adama into a final confrontation ... after a cat & mouse full episode chase/firefight... in which the Admir. barely kills his old foe.... I would have LOVED this... or anything similar... at least heavily og-ish Cylons were seen in the mini series prior to the Cylon attack in the BSG Museum display....
@@maoad_dib it did, but it showed why physical costumes and actors will always trump cgi Same with the ship models. Look at the scene in this video where the raider turns towards the Galactica. The detail and physicality is something you just don't get from cgi.
@tct72 Have you watched Buck Rogers lately? It didn’t age well, crappy special effects, recycled BSG sound effects, that stupid Hawkman or whatever the fuck he was.
The mind-blowing robotic voices of the original Cylons were one of the many things that made the original BSG one of the most *FANTASTIC* science fiction TV shows I've EVER come across in ALL MY LIVING YEARS on the planet Earth!
The star wars battle droids are cannon fodder. The new cylons are MUCH more intimidating. But I have to say, the old cylons are so cool, from their voices to how they look.
Harley Rider 7130 - In Gallactica 1980, we saw Cylons had developed a humanoid model. What if some of them found their way to Earth, and Mr T is one of them? Or, he could be a surviving series Seven from the new series...
Damn!!! I wish someone with imagination would reboot the original series & run with it, the music score is Iconic along with the characters & back story.
Damn. Flashbacks! Yesss. Just ordered a roland vt4 just for this!! Had forgotten the awesome cylons. From kid to bow 52 i still get that cylon stokeness! Thanks for this!
It's because they took themselves completely seriously. There was no irony. They were all American football players and stuntmen so very well built guys too. Also the way it was filmed on 35mm with filters for the reflection from the studio lights to be part of the scene as opposed to try and hide it gave the signature look . Part disco, part Star Wars :)
I am a huge fan of Battlestar Galactica in 1978 as a 12 year old boy. I love the voice of the Cylons, years later a science fiction movie called V came out in 1983. Lizard people who are actually called Visitors came to rule mankind and destroy Earth.
I Remember the episode on Galactica 1980 when Starbuck gets marooned on a planet and makes friends with a cylon. Starbuck: I can't believe I'm rooting for a cylon.
1978, original Battlestar Galactica, great storyline, even a bit deep, with a dark edge. 1979, Buck Rogers, light chauvinistic fun, super sexy babes and episodes titled "Planet of the Slave Girls". As a little kid I could never decide which one I loved more.
There was another voice of old, that rivals the crazyness and greatness of the Cylons 70s. IF YOU CAN FIND IT, OR THEM, research an OLD DOCTOR WHO movie or TV show where the DALEKS are speaking. Listen to their voices. They, too, were cool!
i love the cylons eek moment when it sees the pegasus for the first time . " sir, if i may,,, i think you really should look at the other battlestar"!!!!!.
I liked it when the old-school Cylons turned up in the fourth-season TV movie "Razor", because they were actually pretty badass (as opposed to just showing up to get blown to pieces as they did in the original Battlestar). That said... I liked the design of the new Cylon Centurions a bit better. Don't hurt me :(
I recall seeing the Cylons for the first time in 1978 when I was ten. Up to that point in my young life, they had to be the coolest looking robotic creatures I had ever seen..........then they started speaking 😲
If I was one of the battlestar designers I would have added reinforced hanger doors on those ships when not in use. Maybe that will stop them from exploding prematurely.
proper Cylon`s, I remember watching the whole series back in the day, you will always prefer what you are used to / remember, nothing wrong with the new ones, time moves on but these are old skool terrorists, long live the cylons.
