The online discussions at the time the series aired had many military commentators, both retired and active in the War on Terror. Most of them appreciated the realism of this episode's scene where Lee and Jammer were nervously waiting for the Cylons. Most real life battles involve a lot of prep and then a lot of nervous waiting like this, until the actual battle suddenly happens and is usually over just that quickly.

The acting and dialogue from Lee were great. His obsessively checking everyone, then repeating "we're in good shape... we're in good shape" like he's convincing himself. Then running through what he has to do, visualising it - "headshot, reload, headshot". It's really tough to pull off a character who is well-trained, holding it together well but terrified at the same time, and they nailed it.

@@jabberwock95 At least during the battle you are doing something, and you don't have too much time to think of things that could go wrong. I can think of many TV and movie scenes about how in some ways it is easier to be in the actual battle, including earlier in this show when Starbuck found it difficult to be in the command center during the battle for the Tillium astroid. As Commander Adama pointed out, a pilot in a viper is in more danger, but also in more control. Aboard the Battlestar, there is too little to do during the actual combat, and too much time to just second-guess decisions already made that it is too late to change and too soon to know the end result of.

Note that each season except for season 1 had a mid-season break, so it basically worked like two shorter seasons. So you should treat the last episode before each break like a season finale: "Pegasus" in season 2, "The Eye of Jupiter" in season 3, and "Revelations" in season 4. These mid-season breaks ranged from about a month to nearly a year.

BSG was one of the last shows to get actual full seasons of the show before the steaming system instilled the idea that 8 - 10 episodes is what constitutes a season of TV now a days. EDIT: yes Tigh is right but for the wrong reason.

Apollo committed mutiny by pointing a gun at the head of the XO of the ship carrying out the Commander's orders. That alone should demand his imprisonment and court martial. The court martial would then need to determine whether his actioins were justified, and his defence would no doubt be that he was preventing an illegal action (a military coup of the legitimate civilian government). My verdict would be that Tigh's actions (regarding Apollo at least) are correct. Lock him up until court martial can occur with Adama as senior officer. Tigh and Adama will need to have their own courts martial for the coup first though.

Great reaction girls - this is one of my favorite episodes of a season packed with standout episodes! This reimagined series main Cylon focus is that they can look human now, so it's great to see an episode just focusing on a squad of Centurions, showing how methodical, scary and brutal they are as they rampage through Galactica! The music is bloody brilliant as well (as usual!)

When I first watched it, definitely yes, it sucked me in but at the same time broke my heart over and over again that this is actually the first time I have tried a rewatch of it. I have to say though, that knowing some of the more gut-wrenching punches before hand is making the second time around much easier.

Apollo definitely deserved to be in the brig, had this been an even vaguely normal situation. At some time, pretty much everyone does something that would get them canned in the normal world. Things don't go sideways in BGS; everything stays sideways, so allowances have to be made. Tigh is great at being XO, carrying out Adama's orders and following the rules. Not so much at thinking outside the box, and the box is long gone. The problem with Supernatural was that it kept getting renewed. They'd wrap things up, then be told "Hey, let's make some more!". That said, I think they did a really good job keeping it going. I was really glad that they got to wrap the story up.

Great reaction. Loving your journey through one of my fave ever shows. IMO Tigh should be the one in the brig. The military can't just overthrow the government just because they don't agree with the president's decision, and Roslin is the rightful successor. There should be laws against that. 🤣🤣

After episodes like this originally aired, one thing you could count on in the online forums was a "deadpool" thread (no relation to the Marvel character), where people tried to guess what the survivor count at the beginning of the next episode would be. These threads generally listed the survivor count at the beginning of the episode, and so everyone guessed how much it would drop by.

In response to the "Supernatural" tangent: as far as I'm concerned the last episode of the show is Season 10, Episode 3. Season 9 leaves all the long multi-season storylines in reasonable conditions to end on. The immediate cliffhanger from Season 9 gets resolved in the first three episodes of Season 10, with no new major storylines being introduced along the way. The few storylines that are unresolved are at least not crisis situations, so it's easy to imagine that the characters can just take some time to breathe, figure out what to do, and resolve the lingering issues. One of the last lines of dialogue is even, "if you wanted to take a break, now would be a good time. Things are pretty quiet out there for once". And bailing out just after the start of season 10 gets you out just before the massive drop in quality of the last several seasons. Yes, there are still some bright spots here and there, but the magic is pretty clearly gone for seasons 10 through 15.

However, with the larger picture in mind; Spoilers. and I too really enjoy both the intros and Outros! Supernatural golden seasons are 1 to 5 and they rest are solid, but they the recon begins. Eric Triple just wanted 5 season and be done, but the CW needed the show. Another show is Babylon 5 as J. Michael Straczynski just wanted 5 seasons had 4 and everyone thought that was it so he said I'm doing the ending of season 5. No one will understand it, but want to let people know how it will end, but they did get a season 5, so they were now 1 episode short and made a mix episode. Just never over stay your welcome and end on a high note.

most of the people seen down in the halls of Galactica were actually only wounded, the survivor count between this episode and the next was only 12 lower, and one of the death's would included Socinus after Chief gives him the morpha.

I'm not saying there aren't any filler episodes, but this show has long crazy arcs that keep it going pretty strong, and really towards the end, last season and a half or so, its pretty non-stop. Buckle up. You'll also want to get some advice and decide how to handle the side movies and webisodes. I would at least watch Razor and the Plan, but the question is 'when' you watch them.

I hope I'm not adding to the stress this show generates for you when I tell you... This series ruined Star Trek for me. I really need the grit and darkness now to get fully invested and Star Trek, sadly, can't scratch that itch.
