The trees are obviously the main POI, but I love all the other elements that are included that make this painting keep me in it visually. The land mass in the bottom right area, the land mass on the horizon line, the collection of buildings, and finally the combination of the blues in the sky and water all work together and make me want to be there. I can imagine this being at least a 30 x 40” painting that would absolutely command wherever it was hung. Love it! Yay you!!
This is a great composition, but deceptively complicated. really good job creating depth. I think the saturation of color in the foreground did the trick... very well done man!!
This is beautiful. The first painting/video of yours I saw was a painting of cypress trees a few years ago. I was hooked. I sincerely thank you for all the entertainment and beautiful paintings. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💛
How about a nocturn painting of San Francisco coast line from tiburon Michael? The city lights at night with the buildings silhouetted against the sky . Just a thought in case you run out of ideas . ;)
In regards to the sky holes, I was taught it is called simultaneous contrast… when you have a blue color surrounded by dark it’s gonna look lighter.. so go darker with the sky holes.
It seems that another solution to the complexity issue you raise at the end of the video is to use a smaller brush on a smaller panel to allow yourself to get in more of the details/complexity.
Nice to see you popped back up on my feed! It's interesting (and inspiring) to see how quickly and easily you paint. Cool stuff. PS this was Halfmoon Bay, no? WIth Mavericks to your left?

@@chamberlainpaintings I was kidding about surfing Mavericks :) Love the videos man. We have so much in common it's pretty weird. My daughter was born Sept 11. I spent summers in P-Town. Lived in San Fran for a few years. Surfed somewhere South of SF a bunch and once at Fort Point. The one place South of the City had a Taco Bell in the parking lot. I'm not a great surfer. I'm not a great painter either. Love to carve in wood, made some bowls, clay sculptures, furniture. It's like you have to create. I know you understand. Check out my old friend Cynthia Packard and her mom Anne. Both great painters. Thanks for the constant inspiration!!! Bob,
