Male 28. I just had a cystoscopy today. I asked my doctor a week before appointment to arrange for sedation because I was scared and didn’t want pain. Today they put me into sleep for about 30 minutes and once woke up all was done. No pain, no bad filling. I was very worried and read bad comments about it but my experience was totally pain free and I didn’t even have burning for passing urine after it. Go for sedation if you are really stressed.
I had one. Never again without heavy sedation. The pain of kidney stones is nothing compared to that of cystoscopy. It's either done under heavy sedation or else I unalive. But I will never let anyone do that to me again.
@@JesseGMan7 Of course they do. Would you have this procedure done if they admitted it was painful? They probably paid all the people who said it wasn't painful to say so (those liars didn't even have one done or they'd tell the truth.)
This was the most painful procedure of my life, I screamed in agony the entire time, almost fainted from the pain. The local numbing gel does absolutely nothing, well it burns lol, but no numbing whatsoever. While some may not have any pain, without knowing who will and who won't this shouldn't be done without general anesthesia, hell even local anesthetic injections which hurt would be better than what I went through.
I'm 61 and just had my cystoscopy yesterday (Dec 1st 2022) Like everyone else I was concerned with how much pain this would involve being as they were only gong to use a local anesthetic. The biggest mistake you can make is reading all the comments on RU-vid, they will only wine up getting you all worked up over nothing. I was one of these, but the procedure was quick and for the most part painless. The only time there was a little pain and I stress the words "a little pain" was when they first put the anesthetic in your joy stick, a slight burning sensation and when after inserting the cystoscope they reach your bladder and have to give it a little push to get it in. The doctor told me to just to relax and consecrate on wiggling my toes. After that it went in with no problem. It was over in just a few moments and everything checked out fine. Now you may have a little burning sensation when you pee afterwards once the anesthetic wares off but only on the first couple of times you pee then you're back to normal. I had this procedure at the VA Hospital in Tampa Fl. The reason was because I had peed pink one time and my doctor had me get a CT scan to make sure I didn't have any kidney stones. No stones, but the CT showed an enlarged prostate and the thickening of my bladder wall. I was also experiencing pain in my lower abdomen and in the groin area. It turns out the pain was because I have two hernias that I didn't know about. But I'm happy just knowing its not cancer. If you have to get this done don't worry its not as bad as some imagine it to be.
I had cystoscopy when I was 25. I was in the excruciating pain. I yelled in pain,it felt like someone is stabbing me scraching me...I hope I will never have it done again.
Y’all are scaring me ⬇️ I had this done a couple hours ago and I was completed sedated. I woke up in a lot of pain, gave me morphine for it, which took away all the pain except for when I pee. When I pee, my urethra hurts so much. I hope this pain doesn’t last much longer
45 year old male here. I've had two of these done, They're not that bad. The staff were lovely and helpful & made me feel at ease, it was over in 5 minutes. It's slightly uncomfortable to start with & towards the end it feels like you're urinating, but this is normal. You get peace of mind if there's nothing wrong (like in my case, thank goodness) and if there is something wrong, the sooner they know about it, the better (for treatment etc.) Don't be put off getting this done if you've been adviced to have one. We all have to go through embarrassing things from time to time (smears, giving birth, colonoscopy etc) so just get on with it
Yes general anesthetic 8s the way to go and my second one. I had 3 girlfriends tell me it was the worst pain in the world and thats all I needed to know! Out like a light and didnt feel a thing!
@@normalaverde8594 I'm not sure I get mines done tomorrow. They told me local anesthesia. I hope I get both gel and local anesthetic..and pray I get pain meds after everything.
I had this procedure done today, it was very painful. I feel as if I just gave natural childbirth, it is so painful to walk and go to urinate. I was told this pain will last for only two days, well I hope so!
Yes this procedure is very very painful. I was fully sedated. Upon waking lots of burning and pain. I feel violated. Don't forget during all these exams cystoscopy ureteroscopy etc.. You are given hand Pelvic and Anal exams also. Fully violated nothing mentioned of this...
Piece of advice for anybody under the age of 35.. if you're having a cystoscopy done do it under general anesthesia otherwise u will cry ur eyes out. TRUST ME 😐
@niklassmoonlight3318 I cant really speak for everyone but for me personally, it felt like I was pissing lava at the end but gets better later and don't drink any water after so you can avoid going toilet.
@@theridiculousemerald9476bruh I have to do it, had catheter put on and was screaming into nurse's ears so loud, can't imagine putting this steel pipe into my weiner, they are crazy, and I'm pretty young
Had a cystoscopy last week, they used a local anaesthetic on me, wasn't painful but was uncomfortable had it done because I was diagnosed with prostate cancer the week before to check it hadn't spread to the bladder
No mention of the awful catheter after stricture repaired. I can say after 5 days the results are good. Pissing was so sore. Was traumatic, was blood. It sucked
OMG the doctor came out at me with what looked like my Dad's old electric Drill he kept in the garage - I asked, "where is the numbing lotion?" "We don't use it-- it doesn't help anyway" --- WHAT?? I asked don't you use at least a Lidocaine based lubricant -- no, just plain KY jelly - there was NO WAY I was staying there - I was nervous enough to begin with - (and a nervous type, I admit) - I was told to re-schedule with the procedure being done in a hospital under General anesthesia - EVEN that I am beginning to question - I think Doctors rush to Judgment just because there is a trace of hematuria (almost everyone gets that sometimes) - I'm all for being proactive but I am also precautious -
Johnny Gainor I’m going for mine next week,Scared to death especially after reading all these comments 😣 I went last week for the urodynamics I couldn’t do it I screamed I can’t even describe the pain I’m just scared I don’t know what to do 😔
inkey2 You believe me if I tell you I’m thinking about it right now, reading and watching videos abt it ....I’m having it done this Tuesday I’m scared to death to thepoint I can’t sleep 😣
inkey2 thank you so much for your time I sure will , the first thing I’m doing in the morning is calling the doctor and again thank you so much and God bless you 😔🙏I feel a lot better
@@مغتربةبأمريكا OPINION: the key to getting the pills is saying you are starting to have panic attacks over it. If he asks you what do you mean by panic attacks tell him you "feel nauseated from nervousness ALL THE TIME, you can't sleep, you are having the shakes off and on " and am not able to function normally". I just need the pills to get through this test because this is an important test.....they might find something and I really need to be able to do this. COPY DOWN THIS SCRIPT. Both of the posts I sent you. Read it over a few times and read it over the phone to him......don't sound like you are reading a script.....be sincere natural and sound "scared". Good Luck
It wasn't painful. I was concerned that it would be painful because some years ago when in the hospital they put in a foley catheter with great difficulty and had to inject me with a local anesthetic before pushing it in after multiple tries. There was a big pinch when the urologist put it in which I now realize was him taking a biopsy which I didn't realize he was going to do. Other than that it was fine and quite interesting watching the screen of the camera going through my urethra and examining my bladder.
Not sure which i found more helpful. This excellent video explaining procedures and what Doctors look for specifically. Or the very positive comment section. I'm due to have a Cystoscopy later this week. I have been given a lot of paperwork to read but i think that just adds to the anxiety of the unknown rather than sooths the nerves of an anxious patient. However i understand the procedure better having seen this, and the comments below have eased any anxiety
I had a cystoscopy done yesterday. Like many of you I was dreading it and wishing they would put me under. But it was mostly a big nothing burger. Very minor discomfort and it stung when I urinated the first few times but 18 hours later no pain at all. I got to look inside at the mass in my bladder and I'm scheduled for surgery in 2 weeks but the cystoscopy was no big deal. You can do this and you will be fine!
Patty Harrison, hematuria is quite normal after a cysto. Some burning afterwards is normal, too. I don't know what your symptoms are and what if anything was done during the cysto.
Hey guys I just had my cystoscopy today Done Greatly. I was expecting pain as people told me but I didn't even realize it for a second because when procedure start my nurse keep talking to me and give me two injections and in few seconds I went to sleep when I woke up he says it's done now rest for 6 hours. After procedure a little pain for few seconds but everything was Great Alhamdulillah . Don't worry about what people say trying to scare u
Listen, I don’t care what nobody says this procedure hurts like hell! I had this procedure done today, the used numbing gel but that did absolutely nothing! I pray God I never need another one because I’m going to have to see what other options are available.
I had this procedure done on me . And now it burns like hell when I urinate. Can’t even fall asleep because I have the urge to pee but it burns so I can’t
This procedure is pure brutality using just a numbing cream. I have been through a lot of medical procedures even a prostate biopsy but this was the WORST EVER. They really should do this under sedation. It doesn't help if your doctor doesn't give a $hit either
This should never be done under local jelly...it should be done under general anesthesia only....if u go to big hospitals like apollo they will do it under general anesthesia only. I spoke to the doctor and he told me that they will do only under GA not jelly
Local jell does nothing for men most pain is when rod is being rammed past prostate, jell never reaches there dr only want you in and out to get most money per day so they tell you it is uncomfortable and suck it up.Quicker for them than having to put you out
I’m surprised at the complaints of pain Just some lubricant and numb gel and your good to go It wasn’t something I want to do weekly but just a short bit of discomfort but not pain Its important to relax, same with rectal prostate exam just try and relax If you tense up many things in life will be most unpleasant I explained to my kids many years ago of the old buddhist Mantra Pain is a certainty Suffering is optional My daughter was dealing with a stomach bug and she was writhing on her bed But after we spoke she let go and felt better “not good” but she wasn’t exacerbating her already soon too pass state of being Ching, Ching lol
Maybe some of you are discussing other procedures? My comments below are about a flexible cystoscopy, not a rigid one, and the procedure was an examination, not a biopsy nor a resection of the prostate.
It is not painful at all! What a bunch of wimps!! The anesthetic gel stung a little but less than a dentist's needle. Then the endoscope was passed with no discomfort except when it had to pass the neck of the bladder, but once inside it was hardly perceptible at all. The surgeon pointed out all the landmarks on the screen and the whole procedure lasted a couple of minutes, if even that. I strongly recommend any man requiring this examination to go ahead and have it done - there is nothing to fear but fear itself, as someone said.
@@19530ashland It's called "fear"! I see postings where people are dreading the procedure, some asked for a general anaesthetic. I accept that there may be people who have certain conditions that make their particular experience painful. My daughter worked in the urology dept of the local hospital and can confirm that the majority of men have this procedure without any drama at all. Remember, the postings on YT tend to be the exceptions, like with Amazon, the minority of unhappy customers complain while the majority of satisfied customers couldn't be bothered letting us know.
@@karhukivi don’t care the penis is not an entry into body it’s an exit.No rod going to be rammed up mine with random female holding my shrinking penis
Seriously!!! All of these videos act like it’s like getting your ears or throat checked, as if you can just go in and leave skipping out five minutes later.
I had this the other day. Honestly, it's not as bad as you think. The worst part for me was the first pee after the procedure. It was like peeing razor blades and glass.
@@landen2482 honestly there is no pain what so ever. They fill your manhood with gel. It numbs everything. The camera is in no more than 60 seconds. The reason why this is done is so they can make sure YOU and ME are healthy. Cancer of the bladder can be missed by ultrasound scans. Ignore these comments what say it's painful ect. It really is not, but remember....what's worse? Cancelling your appointment due to the mental aspect or telling your loved ones you have bladder cancer what can't be fixed because you bottled a cyctoscopy?
Male 21 , Super honest review I got cystoscopy today without any sedation or anesthesia , Its not that there is no pain . There is a pain but you can definitely endure it , Be it how much worse it is . There is nothing to be frightened , the pain is endurable . But , The worst part was peeing after a hour . motherfucking absolute hell it is , unbearable unendurable . Its as if you are passing glass through your urethra .My bladder is full but i am not able to pee . Its fucking hell
I m not sure they give locals for this but had my second one this week under general anesthesia. After 3 of my girlfriends told me the pain was horrific, that was all I needed to know and always made sure, this time and last, that I was "out like a light!" You dont want to be awake for this!!!
I just did mine today hurt like hell.i feel they're torturing you without anesthesia is just plain brutal then when you pee afterwards more hell I got traumatized just thinking about it I have nightmares 😭😰😱
This was the most painful and horrible thing I have ever had done. I usually get Botox for my OAB, this Dr Jerk said this would be better...NOT. After 3-4 hours my body went into shock and the pain was unbelievable. NEVER let a DR do this unless it is absolutely necessary.
Adihcar hi, how are you now ? How was your intervention ? How are you feeling right now ? Did the pain go away after the procedure ? How many days after did you feel better ? Please tell me, I’m going to get one with biopsy and I’m not sleeping not eating just terrified waiting for the day :(
Ahmed Chelouit sorry just saw ur Comment To be honest it was kinda painful using this numbing Gel was a joke I was scared to death I almost left the doctor’s office but I had to do it but forget about this part the most painful thing is after getting the cystoscope done,Trying to urinate was 10 times painful than the cystoscope itself I screamed ....it took me 15 to 20 minutes just to Pee,The pain lasts for about three days
Sal Russo I went ...they used the numbing gel unfortunately did not work I had to do it even it was painful but not that painful It was quick but the worst part about the whole thing is using the bathroom The following day, I cannot describe the pain it was really bad, good luck 🙂
Went today!! No pain at all!, I am not sure what these people are talking about. The only "weird" part to me, was when they inserted the numbing agent. And that was just like a full feeling! Honestly if I was asked to rate the pain/discomfort on a scale of 1-10, it wouldn't even be on the scale!! I was diagnosed, with a tightened bladder entrance, therfore to me, surely, it should of been more painfull for me when the camera passed through. But honestly there was no pain at all, could barely even feel it, I was just aware that it was there!! Afterwards, it did sting like a bXXXh when peeing, but it wasn't unbareable at all. And at that time you're at home and just able to chill out. so it's no big deal at all!! I am on my 5th pee, (6 hours after) and it is 50-60% better. Please if you need this doing, do not listen to these people. I have never spoke to anyone, including the 5 other men that had this done today, That have said they felt any sort of pain. 4-5 minutes and your done. That's everything from first sitting on the table with your littl fella out, to walking out to the reception!! Sorry for long comment!! :) Have a good day :)
Pena Tras pena I had one done and not so bad. Not nearly as painful as it is a very shocking sensation. Once they actually get it in your penis though it’s not AWFUL. Uncomfortable but the beginning is the worst
What is the estimated cost of the Cystoscopy procedure?? My sis is also facing issues with Urine stuck in the stomach... Also please suggest the best hospitals in Hyderabad location...
I am 55 year female I gad that fine on Monday September 11 2023 found I have a bladder tumor I have to surgery on October 4 2023. To remove then they will send it off to see if it Binet or cancer I am so scared right I had no problems pee or no blood in the urine I had no idea that this either. It did not hurt they just numb the area then stuck the camera up there
